How to make a picnic vest from an old jacket. Vest from old jeans

Phone case, tablet bag, ideas

I'll tell you friends how you can knit an exclusive from an old raincoat or leather jacket!

Let's start with the fact that the skin of an old thing should not be very worn out, all the same, the work is titanic and it would be a pity if it is made of rotten or badly worn leather.

We will need:

1. A piece of leather.

2. Metal punch.

3. Wooden bar.

4. Hammer.

5. Cotton threads with viscose.

6. Kryuchok knitting No. 3.

7. Old comfortable T-shirt.

8. Scissors.

Let's get started:

We cut the skin into different shapes. Approximately from 3 to 5 cm. Here I can’t say exactly how much. The fact is that we are all different, I mean sizes and height. I cut it a couple of times, it just wasn’t enough during assembly. Pieces 80 exactly :).

We take a wooden block, put a piece of leather on it and punch holes around the entire perimeter with a hammer.

A familiar turner turned a punch for me and brought a bar for one thing. I’ll say right away that one is not enough, I quickly punched through all sides, I had to ask for another supplement.

Try to hit the holes about 5 mm from the edge and from each other. So as not to tear the product later when worn. We tie the thread to the corner and tie it with a simple single crochet. stick out when worn.

We try to knit evenly, not to tighten.

I tied a whole box, so that later, when assembling, I would not be distracted;).

It seemed to me that there were only squares, it was boring and primitive! I found such a leaf diagram in the magazine. I decided to dilute the work with lace.

I imposed 40 pieces of leaves, just in case. They knit very easily and naturally.

A few subtleties: all the details, I mean leaves and pieces of leather, are tedious to steam with an iron, before assembly.

The most tedious and painstaking begins :(, assembly. The first parts were assembled arbitrarily, twisted, applied, placed, inserted leaves.

I connected the parts with a string of air loops, 5-6 ch each, clinging to one part or another. Something like this, experts will understand me, I hope.

And then, an old cozy T-shirt comes to our aid, which we will focus on when assembling.

Look at what threads I used. Almost 3 skeins went for my whole work. Approximately 300 grams.

So we collect, try, try on the figure :)

Yes, here's another, I came up with a few pieces to turn over, let them be suede, especially since the suede turned out to be in excellent condition.

I collected longer than I knitted, I won’t hide it.

I tied it with a crustacean step, very carefully! I tucked each thread.

Now I wear a vest, if I may say so :), both in winter and summer. In winter I wear a turtleneck under it, in summer a T-shirt with straps.

Believe me, it is very pleasant to wear things that are not ordinary, made with love with your own hands.

Yes, and the skin is not lost!!! And I also have a similar handbag, wallet, tablet case, phone case, passport cover;) What a lovely selection! I recommend it;)

Bag of squares 10/10cm. Wooden beads sewn on.

Painted with dot painting, batik contours!

This is a tablet case.

These are phone cases, friends drag leather, so I make gifts for loved ones.

You probably have old jeans in your closet that you haven't worn in a long time. Give them a second life by tailoring a fashionable vest. This little thing has not left the wardrobes of fashionistas for many years, occupying an important place in the shows of eminent couturiers. With the help of our instructions, you will be able to sew a new thing for yourself, which will not yield in beauty and design to things from the podium.

Materials and tools

To sew a vest for work, you will need:

  • old jeans;
  • large scissors;
  • chalk or a special pencil for fabric;
  • needles for fixation;
  • threads to match the fabric;
  • tape measure;
  • sewing kit;
  • accessories for decoration (rivets, rhinestones, sequins and decorative stones);
  • sewing machine.

Cut out the details

We make a pattern by doing the work in the following sequence:

  • Pre-wash and iron jeans, lay them out on a flat surface.
  • Spread the back and carefully remove the belt on the product.
  • Draw a pattern on the pants with chalk. The back pockets will serve as the basis for the future vest.
  • Leave a 1 cm seam allowance around the entire perimeter of the pattern, bending and sewing it with a needle and thread.
  • Cut a blank in the form of a heptagon in the area of the back pockets, the details should be even and symmetrical, as this is the basis of the vest.
  • Then cut the pants along the side seam. This part will go to making the harness. Measure the centimeter flight distance from the neck to the chest and transfer these figures to the fabric.
  • Draw two details of the harness on the workpiece. The lower part of the harness is equal to the width of the upper part of the main part.
  • We make the harness in the neck area narrower, it is 3-4 cm. Leaving allowances for the seams, cut out all the details.

Sew the details

When collecting all the details, be careful:

  • Using needles, fix the bottom of the harness to the details of the front.
  • Sew along the tapped seams on a typewriter.
  • Before sewing together the details of the harness, put on the front of the vest and adjust the length. If everything suits you, sew on a sewing machine.
  • From the remaining fabric, make the details of the back. Put on a vest and measure the length. The width of the back must match the width of the front.
  • Transfer the measurements to the fabric, leaving allowances for the seams. Cut out the details and baste. Try on the vest, if everything suits you, stitch the back on the typewriter.
  • Connect the details of the vest to each other, basting with needles. Then sew on the machine. Iron all seams on the product.

Vest decoration

Making a decorative bow:

  • To give your new dress a zest, you can decorate the back with a bow, sewing it from the remnants of denim.
  • To do this, cut out two rectangles, one larger, it will serve as the base. The other one is a little smaller, it will hold the middle together.
  • Process their edges on a typewriter, form a bow and secure with hidden seams.
  • Sew with a needle in the center of the back. A vest decorated with a bow is ready.

Decoration of a vest with fittings

You can decorate the vest with metal rivets. Decorative stones, rhinestones and sequins will give the product a unique zest:

  • Choose places on the fabric where you would like to sew accessories.
  • Secure with a needle and thread.
  • Other decorative elements (rhinestones, decorative stones and sequins) are fixed in the same way.

Applying a little imagination in decorating, the new thing will look much more interesting.

By sewing a vest from old jeans, you have created a unique design item. Having decorated it to your liking, they created a creative and original piece of clothing.
