We will need:

Let's get started:

Materials and tools

To sew a vest for work, you will need:

  • old jeans;
  • large scissors;
  • chalk or a special pencil for fabric;

Cut out the details

We make a pattern by doing the work in the following sequence:

  • Pre-wash and iron jeans, lay them out on a flat surface.
  • Spread the back and carefully remove the belt on the product.
  • Draw a pattern on the pants with chalk. The back pockets will serve as the basis for the future vest.
  • Leave a 1 cm seam allowance around the entire perimeter of the pattern, bending and sewing it with a needle and thread.
  • Cut a blank in the form of a heptagon in the area of ​​​​the back pockets, the details should be even and symmetrical, as this is the basis of the vest.
  • Then cut the pants along the side seam. This part will go to making the harness. Measure the centimeter flight distance from the neck to the chest and transfer these figures to the fabric.
  • Draw two details of the harness on the workpiece. The lower part of the harness is equal to the width of the upper part of the main part.
  • We make the harness in the neck area narrower, it is 3-4 cm. Leaving allowances for the seams, cut out all the details.


Sew the details

When collecting all the details, be careful:

  • Using needles, fix the bottom of the harness to the details of the front.
  • Sew along the tapped seams on a typewriter.
  • Before sewing together the details of the harness, put on the front of the vest and adjust the length. If everything suits you, sew on a sewing machine.
  • From the remaining fabric, make the details of the back. Put on a vest and measure the length. The width of the back must match the width of the front.
  • Transfer the measurements to the fabric, leaving allowances for the seams. Cut out the details and baste. Try on the vest, if everything suits you, stitch the back on the typewriter.
  • Connect the details of the vest to each other, basting with needles. Then sew on the machine. Iron all seams on the product.

Vest decoration

Making a decorative bow:

  • To give your new dress a zest, you can decorate the back with a bow, sewing it from the remnants of denim.
  • To do this, cut out two rectangles, one larger, it will serve as the base. The other one is a little smaller, it will hold the middle together.
  • Process their edges on a typewriter, form a bow and secure with hidden seams.
  • Sew with a needle in the center of the back. A vest decorated with a bow is ready.


Decoration of a vest with fittings

You can decorate the vest with metal rivets. Decorative stones, rhinestones and sequins will give the product a unique zest:

  • Choose places on the fabric where you would like to sew accessories.
  • Secure with a needle and thread.
  • Other decorative elements (rhinestones, decorative stones and sequins) are fixed in the same way.
