Notes of a layman offers 11 simple ideas for New Year's inspiration.

Christmas decoration made of beads and satin ribbon

You'll need:

- beads (8 - 15 pieces) - large and square for the base, round for the trunk;

- 30 -40 cm satin ribbon (at least 1.5 cm wide);

- a large needle and strong thread.

Materials:

- multi-colored felt;

- cardboard templates;

- thick contrasting threads for external seams and ordinary thin threads for sewing on jewelry and eyelets;

- rhinestones, beads, sequins, buttons, ribbons for decoration and a thin ribbon for eyelets;

- synthetic winterizer or silicone filler (if you decide to make a voluminous Christmas tree toy);

- needle and scissors.

For each toy, you will need to cut out two identical shapes (one front, which you will decorate, and the back). Let your imagination run wild and decorate the front of the future Christmas decoration with rhinestones, beads, embroidery or ribbons. Then sew a loop and sew both parts. If you decide to make a voluminous toy, leave a small hole for the filler, stuff the toy, then sew it up completely.

Stars, lollipops and hearts

You will need quite a bit of skill and a little imagination to turn ordinary wire and twine into elements of a festive decor or an original New Year's toy.

DIY Christmas toys made of paper

It would seem that it could be more trivial, because we remember from childhood how to cut out snowflakes and make paper Christmas garlands and balls. Here are some ideas to disprove this misconception.

Funny accordions

You need scrapbooking paper, decorative buttons and beads, double-sided tape or silicone glue, a plastic knife and a ruler, a thin tape for a loop.

Snowflakes in retro style

To create retro snowflakes you will need:

- snowflakes made of thick cardboard (such a set can be bought ready-made) and cardboard stars (also available in a set);

- vintage music sheets;

- small silver glitter (to cover the snowflakes) and glue, silver acrylic paint, clear (Krylon Matte Finish) to fix the shine on the snowflakes, white craquelure (to get the texture of the cracked surface on the snowflakes), a stamp with a New Year's inscription and black ink;

- double-sided tape, a small bell, two rivets, a silver "rain" or tape for an eyelet, scissors, a brush for applying paint and glue, an awl or a hole punch.

DIY Christmas decorations - Japanese stars

Small stars can serve as both an element of New Year's decor and a cute Christmas decoration.

Materials: colored paper, scissors or a cutter, a clear plastic container for wrapping gifts, glue or tape for gluing the lid, golden ribbon for a bow.

paper ball

A wonderful alternative to breakable and expensive glass Christmas decorations, especially if you have a small child in your family.

Materials:

- scrapbooking paper or regular packaging paper 15 × 15 cm in size (preferably with a contrasting design), the main thing is that the sheets are not too thick, colored cardboard;

- beads, a strip of ordinary paper measuring 5 × 20 cm, glue or tape, round-nose pliers, a hole punch (an awl will do), scissors or a cutter, a cutting mat or a ruler, wire, a thin tape for a loop.

Cut 16 strips of 1.3 x 11 cm - 8 for each paper design. At both ends of each strip, make a hole with an awl (make sure that all holes are at the same level from the edge, otherwise the ball will not have a perfectly round shape). We cut out 4 circles with a diameter of 2.5 cm from cardboard - they will be needed to fix the strips. Cut a piece of wire 20 cm long, twist one end into a small loop-lock. First, start putting on a bead on a wire base, then a cardboard circle, paper strips over the circle, alternating them in color. When all the strips are on, place another circle on top of them.

We twist a long strip of paper into a tube, fix the end with glue or tape - this is the core of our ball. We string it on a wire, do not forget to place another cardboard circle on top. Now begin to sequentially put on strips of paper clockwise, starting with the outer, first, and ending with the inner. This way you will form a ball. The final step is the last cardboard circle, a bead and a retainer loop.

When, before the New Year, all family members find time and gather to make decor for the Christmas tree and the room - this is wonderful. In the old days, when Christmas tree decorations were expensive, many had no choice but to make Christmas tree toys with their own hands from improvised materials: cones, acorns, rags. Those days are long gone, but the tradition remains. In addition, the choice of materials has expanded significantly, many interesting ideas have appeared based on handicraft art from different countries, which made the process of making Christmas tree toys even more exciting.

Fold and glue paper

Paper is an affordable and malleable material that can be used to make many different decorations. For the manufacture of toys, all its varieties are used: ordinary white, which is used for office equipment; color, familiar to us from needlework lessons at school, thin cigarette, corrugated, decorative cardboard.

Let's make with you flat figures of Santa Claus from the most ordinary colored paper.

You will need a square sheet of paper. In the example, a square with sides of 10 × 10 cm is used. But the size of the square can be taken as desired. The square needs two colors: red on one side and white on the other. If necessary, you can glue two sheets of paper with double-sided tape.

Fold the square diagonally.

Smooth the fold with your finger. Spread out. It turned out a diagonal markup.

We wrap the top corner to the center point. We bend. We see that we have a horizontal line.

Bend back the corner up to the edge. We bend back.

We bend a small corner to the formed line.

Now we can completely wrap the lapel along with the corner. The top part is ready.

Let's start with the bottom part. We bend the bottom corner to the opposite edge.

We make a lapel back to the bottom point.

We turn the workpiece from left to right and work with the back.

We turn the sides. We make a narrow stripe. We wrap the strip on one side, and exactly the same on the other.

We wrap both sides completely to the middle line.

Now we wrap the lower corners, as shown in the photo, along the border of red and white.

We turn the lower part up, again along the border of white and red.

We repeat the same on the other side.

Turn the workpiece over to the other side, draw the eyes and nose.

For work with children, it is worth recommending something simpler, since a preschooler is unlikely to master folding origami Santa Claus. But even a kid can make a paper chamomile. Prepare to have on hand, scissors, glue, thread, colored paper.

Take 8 strips of paper. The width of the blanks is any, but the thickness of the decoration itself depends on it.

Fold the strips together and then in half. From the edge, which is the middle of the strips, cut off the corners.

Spread out. Tie in the middle with a thread.

Coat the edge of each "petal" with glue and bend to the middle, without smoothing the fold.

Decorate each "petal" in this way.

Pass the thread through one of the "petals" and tie a knot.

Round ornaments are made from colored paper folded like an accordion. For their manufacture, you can take paper of the same color or different colors, then in the second case the circle will consist of 3-4 multi-colored sectors.

Beautiful decorations made from accordion-folded paper.

Take three or four squares of colored paper. If the square is large, then 3 pieces will be needed, if it is small - 4.

Fold the square in half first. Expand.

Tuck the edge to the resulting fold. Expand.

Then fold the last segment in half.

You have a marked side.

Repeat steps on the other side.

Fold a sheet of paper along the folds with an accordion.

Bend the accordion in half.

Glue the inner joint.

Collect from the "fans" a toy.

In general, a variety of Christmas decorations, such as balls, are assembled from paper or cardboard folded like an accordion. The technology is somewhat reminiscent of the one that has just been described in the previous master class. These New Year's toys for the Christmas tree are obtained from rectangular sheets of decorative cardboard. They look very much like balls.

Pseudo-volume is achieved by gluing identical parts, as shown in the photo. These crafts are also easy to make. The thread is glued between the parts.

Chinese paper balls look very decorative. Understanding the technology of their manufacture from a photo is not easy, so we put a detailed video master class.

Who remembers, in the past, sweets were often hung on the Christmas tree. Why not hang big candies made by yourself on the Christmas tree today too? You will need:

  • toilet paper tube;
  • White paper;
  • glue;
  • red paint;
  • cellophane as for decoration of bouquets;
  • cotton wool or synthetic winterizer.

Inside, by the way, instead of cotton wool or synthetic winterizer, there is an opportunity to put real sweets.

We smear the tube with glue and apply white paper.

Glue the edge.

We cut the free edges with strips, bend the strips inward.

Take a not very sticky adhesive tape (it will have to be removed) and glue the tube over.

Fill in the gaps with red paint.

Remove the adhesive tape after the workpiece has dried.

Fill the inside of the candy with padding polyester or cotton wool.

Wrap the workpiece in film.

Secure the ends with braid or tape.

Ice cream sticks - let's start the "construction"

Everything is clear with paper, but there are improvised materials, they are also used to make New Year's toys for the Christmas tree. Surprisingly, ice cream sticks are also suitable for this purpose. Although not even this is impressive, but how original the jewelry is. Let's find out how to make a Christmas tree house and decorate it.

To make a house you will need: glue, a napkin, a toothpick for applying glue, paint - white and blue, a brush, decorations: beads, half beads, sparkles, lace.

The first thing we need to do is color the sticks blue.

After we have painted the sticks, we dip a lump of napkin into white paint - we draw snow. We paint 8 sticks in blue, 4 sticks in gray.

After the sticks have dried, lay them out in the shape of a house and glue them together. We cut one of the gray sticks in half and lay it out in the form of a fence.

We glue everything. We are waiting for the house to dry.

We make “curtains” from lace, glue them on the back of the house.

We also glue lace on the fence, turn the edges back.

We also glue the loop.

We decorate the house with semi-beads and sparkles.

The house was made. You can also glue sleds from sticks and paint them in any color you like. In principle, ice cream sticks are such a material from which anything is assembled, the main thing is to connect your imagination.

Take:
  • ice cream sticks - 7 pcs;
  • glue;
  • paint;
  • thin cardboard;
  • braid.

Glue four sticks together.

Cover a piece of cardboard with hot glue and glue it to the sticks.

Glue two more sticks as sledge runners.

At the last stick, cut the edges and glue the jumper, for which we will hang the sled on the Christmas tree.

Take red paint and sponge. Decorate the sled.

We tie a loop to the dried sled.

What is rich, so happy: natural materials

Natural materials have never failed. They always look very organic on the Christmas tree, be it cones, nuts, cinnamon sticks or orange slices. It is enough to bring a few cones from a walk, look for acorns in the park or buy a few walnuts and you can already create.

Take some walnuts. Carefully free them from the contents, being careful not to damage the halves of the shell. Although you can leave the nuts whole if you want.

If using empty nuts, glue the halves together with a heat gun.

Paint future toys with silver spray paint.

Glue the bow.

Don't forget the loop to hang the nut on the Christmas tree.

If you combine different materials, then the possibilities of creativity will expand even more. Let's make, for example, a little man from felt, a cone and an acorn without a hat.

We will prepare all the materials.

Take a triangular piece of felt, try it on an acorn. From this piece we will sew a pointed hat.

Sew the sides of the triangle over the edge.

We try on a hat to the acorn.

Cut out small mittens from the blue felt.

Then the red felt legs.

Cut off a small piece of twine. From it we will make the hands of a little man.

Cut out a narrow strip of red felt - this is a scarf.

Turn the pine cone upside down.

Glue a piece of twine and an acorn.

Apply hot glue to the tip of the twine and press the mitten against the twine and the bump at the same time. Glue the second mitten on the other side.

Glue on the hat.

Then the legs, straight to the bump, from below.

If you make two little men, then you can connect them together. Glue the twine to the backs of the little men's heads.

So that you can throw toys over a branch.

Tie a scarf around your neck. Make a fringe.

Wooden log cabins can be bought at a handicraft store. Although, if they put up a natural Christmas tree, sometimes they cut down some part of the trunk. This piece can be used.

Saw it diagonally into several blanks.

Drill holes in blanks.

Paint the surface of the log house with acrylic paint in any color.

Write a wish, an inspirational phrase, or the names of family members.

Pass a loop through the hole, pass the ends of the cord through it, tie a knot.

Crafts from ribbons

Ribbons of different colors will transform your Christmas tree. In Europe, the Christmas tree is traditionally decorated with red bows, they are hung or tied to branches, the top of the head. How to tie beautiful bows, see this article. You can stop there, or you can go further and do something more interesting, for example, ribbon lanterns.

You will need: yellow ribbon 4 cm wide, 8 cm long - 9 pcs., golden ribbon 2.5 cm wide, 8 cm long - 9 pcs., lilac ribbon 2.5 cm wide, 5 cm long - 3 pcs., golden ribbon 2.5 cm wide, 5 cm long - 3 pcs. Pin with two beads, "bell" to secure the loop.

We take two ribbons 8 cm long. We put one on top of the other. We melt the tips with a flame from a lighter.

We bend the edges to the middle.

We fold in half.

Trim the wide strip on one side.

We melt.

We connect the upper corner with the lower one.

Fold one corner up. We melt the corner to keep it.

Apply glue to the recess of the petal.

We press.

Slightly fold the sides of the petal.

In the same way we make petals from short pieces of tape. But we impose a golden ribbon not in the middle, but with an offset.

Cut off the excess part of the golden ribbon.

We overlap three petals with yellow tape.

Add one purple petal.

Repeat the steps for gluing the petals together.

We put the loop inside, as well as a pin with beads. We apply glue.

We glue the third blank for the flashlight. We put on a bell.

We hang toys on the Christmas tree.

Such flashlights will shine and shimmer in the reflections of an electric garland.

We use fabric: we make lace hearts, Christmas trees

You have already been able to see how diverse Christmas decorations can be. A practical material for jewelry is fabric: ordinary cotton, linen, burlap, knitwear, lace. In order for the toys to turn out neat, symmetrical, even, you first need to make a template out of paper, and use it to cut blanks out of the fabric.

You need a cardboard blank in the shape of a heart, a piece of lace, a jute cord, glue for gluing lace.

As well as beads and rhinestones, acrylic paints, brushes and scissors, more tape for loops and glue for gluing rhinestones and beads.

We will stick lace on a cardboard blank. When the glue dries, the ends will be easy to trim. Do not spare glue, when it dries, it will become invisible.

The lace is stuck. We cover the workpiece with black acrylic paint. We cover carefully, avoid non-painting. We leave the workpiece to dry. Painted on both sides.

Let's highlight the lace. This will require white paint and a hard brush. We take a little white paint on the brush, remove the excess. Apply to the workpiece, highlighting the ribs of lace. We leave to dry.

The workpiece took on a completely different look.

Next we need a jute cord. From it we will make decorations that will be located on the workpiece. We take a jute cord, tie a knot, cut off the tip. We twist the jute cord. We try on the size of the workpiece. We fix the coils with drops of glue.

We make several jute blanks.

We put them in our hearts. Glue.

Decorate with beads and rhinestones.

The edges of the heart can be painted over with gold or silver paint.

Maybe we can sew another plump toy Christmas tree? In this master class, light-colored polka-dot fabric was used, so the toy turned out to be especially cute, delicate. But for sewing, any trimming of fabric, any color and ornament is suitable.

Let's make together a Christmas tree stuffed with padding polyester.

You will need fabric, pattern, decorations, padding polyester, scissors, thread, needle, ribbon bow, braid.

We circle the template, making two blanks from the fabric.

Cut out blanks.

We chop off the parts by connecting them with the front sides together.

We sew to the top. We put a loop of tape inside. We continue to sew the details further. Leave a small hole at the bottom.

We turn out the detail.

Stuff with synthetic winterizer and sew up the hole.

We decorate the lower part of the Christmas tree with braid. We sew it on.

We distribute beads over the entire surface, glue or sew them.

Complex decor from simple threads

It is even easier to make a Christmas tree toy out of threads. Needle and thread are used minimally here. Usually thread decor is planted on glue, but some kind of base is often required.

Let's make a house pendant wrapped with jute cord.

We will need a template, cardboard, jute cord, thread with a needle, scissors, glue, a pencil, a narrow ribbon bow, a pendant, a bead and a piece of ribbon or lace for a loop.

Trace the template onto cardboard. Cut out.

Glue the loop.

Lubricate the area of \u200b\u200bthe house with glue.

We wind the jute cord tightly until the moment that can be seen in the photo. Then we make several dense rows to the roof.

Then we change the direction of winding.

We turn to the design of the roof.

Sew on the pendant, glue the bow and bead.

If you have unnecessary lace doilies lying around at home, make great Christmas decorations out of them. You can crochet napkins on purpose, making them smaller or larger.

You will need two wipes.

Sew them together with matching thread.

Soak in a bowl of water.

Pull in different directions.

Insert the ball into the hole.

Inflate it so that the napkins stretch on the ball.

Coat with PVA glue and hang to dry.

When the ball dries, it will become hard. Poke the balloon and take it out.

And here is an angel, which is easily constructed from the remains of white knitting threads.

Prepare:

  • white knitting threads;
  • felt;
  • cardboard;
  • glue.

Let's make such an angel.

We wind threads on a piece of cardboard until it seems that it is enough.

We take a piece of thread and thread it under the wound threads.

We cut the threads from below.

We tie exactly at the crown. We make a loop for hanging.

We form the head, arms and waist.

We make a template for the wings. Cut out wings from felt.

Glue the wings to the angel.

Symbol of the New Year made of felt and other toys

Well, where without felt? Recently, Christmas decorations from it have become a fashion trend, not a single New Year can do without them. Fortunately, there are many patterns and images of finished toys in the public domain, according to which you can make jewelry yourself.

We propose to make not quite an ordinary toy. Here, felt is used not as the main material, but as the basis.

You will need a template in the form of a circle, a piece of thick white felt, beads, thread and a needle, scissors, a pencil, ribbon.

Outlining the template.

Cut out a circle from felt.

Sew or glue a loop of tape.

We tightly embroider the felt with beads.

We make a bow. We cut the edges curly.

A charming Christmas decoration is ready.

As you know, next year will be held under the sign of the Dog, so you should definitely make a toy in the form of a dog. Felt is just the material with which it is convenient and quick to work.

A cute dog made of felt will be a great gift or Christmas tree toy.

You will need soft felt in brown, beige and black, hard felt in white, red and pink, threads to match, except for red, cord, braid or ribbon, filler, disappearing marker, needles, scissors, pattern.

Cut out from brown felt: torso - 2 parts, front paws - 2 parts, ears - 2 parts, Flesh-colored felt: muzzle - 2 parts, a small part of the muzzle - 1 pc., details of the hind legs - 2 pcs., details of the front paws - 2 pcs. We lay out all the details in the right order to make sure everything is in place.

Fold the ear in half. Sew to the top layer of the lower part of the upper body. We repeat the same with the second ear. We fix the thread.

Now, with a “forward needle” seam, we sew the bodily parts of the paws to another part of the body. The ends of the threads can be hidden inside the felt.

Then we sew the muzzle with a seam “over the edge”.

We sew the heels with a few stitches and embroider the fingertips with a chain stitch.

The next step is to embroider the eyes. First, draw them with a disappearing marker. Then embroider in one thread with a chain stitch.

We outline the mouth and mustache on the muzzle.

Sew the nose with a seam forward needle.

In place of the mustache points, we make French knots. Embroider the mouth with chain stitch.

Sew the pink tongue to the top layer of the inside of the muzzle.

Then we sew the muzzle with a buttonhole seam. Inside we stuff a little filler and sew the parts to the end.

With a tambour stitch, we embroider a ponytail on the back of the body with bodily threads.

We sew the bodily parts of the paws to the front paws with a “needle forward” seam.

Then we put the two parts of the front paws together and sew with a buttonhole.

Lightly fill the parts with filler.

Sew the paws to the upper body with a seam over the edge.

We sew a beard to the same part with a seam over the edge, and then we sew the muzzle, capturing only its lower part.

We put the parts of the body together and sew with a buttonhole seam. When we reach the crown, we sew a loop. We tie a knot on the lace and sew the loop to the back of the body.

We fill the toy with filler. We sew the details to the end.

The toy is almost ready.

Sew the details of the pom-pom together through the tip of the cap. We sew a white edge to the red part of the cap.

Now we sew the cap to the toy. We make a seam under a white stripe.

We embroider claws on paws.

The fox belongs to the canine family. She will make an excellent pair of felt dog. Make such a fox-girl. The kids will be delighted with it.

Here are all the required materials.

And this is a pattern.

Festive balls from old toys, foam, plastic

It is difficult to imagine a more ordinary Christmas tree decoration than a New Year's ball. But the most ordinary ball or blank with the help of a pair of hands turns into a product that demonstrates your creativity.

We offer you to look at three interesting instructions for the transformation of simple Christmas balls.

Ball "Minnie Mouse"

Take the red Christmas ball. Paint the top of the ball with black acrylic paint.

White paint put down large peas. Let dry.

Draw ears on black cardstock. Cut out, bend the ends.

Paint the top of the balloon with glitter nail polish. Cover your ears with them.

Glue the ears to the ball.

Tie the red ribbon into a bow. Glue to the base of the ball. Mickey Mouse is ready.

plastic blanks

For the next two workshops, you will need plastic balls, consisting of two separable halves. Blanks of balls are sold in a needlework store.

Write some New Year's phrase with a black marker on a plastic ball.

Separate the halves. Put the crumpled tape inside.

Make a ribbon bow or cut a fabric ribbon and tie it into a bow. Glue the bow to the ball.

Let's draw a New Year's silhouette on the same plastic blank. Pour cocoa inside and put marshmallows.

Close the ball. The halves of the ball are well fastened to each other.

We thread and glue a bow of red silk ribbon. All. Can be hung on a tree.

Styrofoam

Foam blanks are widely used in the manufacture of Christmas balls. Although for the next master class you can use ordinary glass balls. You probably have a few Christmas decorations that are a pity to throw away, and which have already lost their appearance. Let's transform them.

You will need:

  • knitting threads of red color;
  • foam ball;
  • clip;
  • PVA glue;
  • wire cutters;
  • lace;
  • glue Moment-Crystal.

The ball will be like this.

Cut off the eyelet of the paperclip.

Insert into the ball. We take out. We cover the ends of the paper clips with hot glue and insert them into the marked holes.

We cover the top of the ball with PVA glue and tie the thread to the paper clip.

Gradually wrap the ball covered with glue with threads. We press the threads in the course of work. When the ball dries, decorate it with white lace. Glue with Moment-Crystal glue. Make a loop out of chiffon ribbon.

Look for even more options for Christmas balls.

The whole set of ideas is difficult to somehow structure. Some craftswomen use combined materials or those that are not intended for needlework at all.

Let's make a star from beads on a wire.

This is how she will turn out.

You will need a star drawn on paper, wire, beads, round nose pliers, scissors, threads, a needle, a ribbon for a loop and a bow.

We string several beads on the wire. With the help of round-nose pliers, we form the outline of a star.

We attach the wire with beads to the template and align the base.

We string a lot of beads on the wire at once.

We form a star.

Bend the end of the wire into a loop.

We pass the other end through it and bend it.

Sew on a loop and a bow.

The star on the Christmas tree is ready.

Have you ever thought about making fun Christmas decorations out of light bulbs that are no longer usable and usually go to the trash can?

Here they are.

Well, if the bulbs are white, if not, they can be covered with white paint. Draw the eyes, nose and mouth with a marker.

Draw dots on the sides with red paint.

Wrap the plinth with green colored paper, putting it on double-sided tape.

Glue a paper bow.

We hope you find interesting ideas for yourself. Decorate your Christmas tree with pleasure. We wish you a creative mood.
