Pattern of a life-size textile doll. Making a textile doll: a master class. Do-it-yourself dolls from fabric with patterns

Snowballs are called textile dolls with large steady legs. Their popularity is skyrocketing these days. Many craftswomen have already become interested in them, having as a hobby the manufacture of interior dolls from textiles.

There is nothing surprising here. Textile doll Snowball is able to impress anyone with originality and unusual appearance. The owners are overjoyed at the bright colors, cute quirky outfits and funny hairstyles of their favorites.

Who invented it?

Dolls with big legs were born thanks to Russian designer Tatyana Konne. The works of the talented master have been repeatedly exhibited in our country. Snow girl (Snowball doll) is a truly successful find and has already become a personal brand.

It should not be confused with Tilda. Snowball has a number of characteristic features by which this doll can be immediately distinguished. The most important of them is large legs relative to other parts of the body. This is where the original name came from. The Snowball doll, the photo of which is given below, is a vivid example of this. Note her large, steady feet.

Snowball doll: job description

Everything is cut out separately. When sewing from stuffed parts (handles, legs, head and body), a finished Snowball doll is assembled, the pattern of which is not at all complicated.

The body is stuffed most often with such material as holofiber. It is better not to use cotton wool during work - it goes astray, and the dolls become ugly. In addition, it is necessary to achieve a uniform distribution of the material throughout the volume.

The life-size Snowball doll is not too big. But compared to Tilds, boho-chic toys or the works of Susan Woolcott, the works of Tatiana Konnet weigh more. This fact is not entirely clear to the followers of the designer. Obviously, in author's dolls, calcined buckwheat is used similarly to Tilda. But aromatic additives (vanilla, cinnamon, dry herbs) are not used here.

The body of the doll is sewn from natural knitwear or natural-colored cotton fabric. If necessary, before starting work, the desired shade is achieved by tinting with coffee, strong tea or onion peel.

doll costume

A characteristic sign of a big-legged doll is an original, sometimes downright luxurious outfit. Materials for this are taken very different: from linen and cotton to felt and gabardine, including velor, corduroy and, of course, soft fluffy fleece. Pieces of overcoat and trouser fabrics, tight knitwear go to the outer clothing of the toy. All this is complemented by braid, beautiful ribbons, lace or decorative mesh.

The puppet outfit is decorated with embroidery and artificial flowers. Shades of fabrics can be arbitrary, up to the brightest.

...and shoes

The main highlight of the bigfoot is in its shoes. Our Snowball doll can be shod in almost anything: elegant shoes or funny slippers, sneakers, lace-up shoes, sandals or even small boots. The colors of the shoes are chosen so that they are in harmony with the clothes.

Doll shoes are decorated in the same way with ribbons, bows, chains and all sorts of elegant elements. There is practically no limit to the author's imagination here. The snowball must be stable on the surface. For this, the sole of her shoes is made with a cardboard lining.

Head and hairstyle

Sometimes craftswomen crochet or knit hats for dolls, and sometimes they sew them from bright shreds. And they are similarly decorated with various flowers and pompoms. In terms of originality and variety of accessories, the Snowball doll is in no way inferior to its rival - a boho-chic doll or even the notorious Barbie.

Snowball's feature is an original and sometimes quite complicated hairstyle. For the manufacture of doll hair, woolen yarn, multi-colored floss, satin ribbons are taken. Our beauty can be both a blonde and a brunette. Curls are made collected in an intricate hairstyle or loosely loose, sometimes they are even wound up. To fix hairstyles, she uses tiny hair clips, flowers, bright threads and narrow ribbons.

How the face is made

The doll's face is somewhat reminiscent of Tilda. On it, in the same way, two small black dots indicate eyes planted very close to each other. When making a doll face for them, you can take a couple of black beads, outline with a pencil, draw using acrylic paint for textiles, or carefully embroider.

The shape of Snezhka's head is different compared to Tilda - it is relatively larger, and elongation is uncharacteristic for her. Sometimes it is almost square. In addition to the beady eyes, only bright or pastel blush is applied to the doll's face, for which the craftswoman takes an acrylic pencil or uses her own cosmetics. According to tradition, it is not customary to draw the mouth and nose of such dolls.

wonderful gift

Designer Tatyana Konne has already developed a lot of puppet models, imitating not only little girls, but also funny animals: bunnies, sheep, cubs. But the popularity of the big-footed doll remains unconditional.

Choosing it as a gift for both an adult and a child, you will not go wrong. Funny and cute Snowball will be a wonderful souvenir, decorating the interior. If you have a desire to try to make such a doll with your own hands, we will try to give a number of useful tips.

Do-it-yourself Snowball doll is made quickly and easily with at least minimal needlework skills. Many are scared off by the need to sew precisely her large legs. Novice craftswomen are afraid that their product will not have the proper stability. There are a lot of questions about sewing such dolls. And now we will try to conduct our own small master class on this topic.

What do we need

So, what is needed for tailoring? First of all, this is a life-size pattern of a Snowball doll, which is not a problem to get nowadays. For the body, arms and legs, you should stock up on linen fabric in a neutral light shade.

Having decided on the outfit of the future doll, pick up shreds of the right size for making a dress, coat and shoes. For example, you can take bright trimmings of colored chintz.

Take care of the filler. As already mentioned, cotton wool is not suitable for this purpose, take a synthetic winterizer or holofiber. You will also need a few small buttons, yarn of the selected shade for making doll hair and some cardboard to strengthen the sole. For decoration - lace, braid or whatever your imagination draws.

How to get started

How to sew a Snowball doll? First of all, you need to cut out the details of her body and head. We lay out the fabric chosen for the base on a flat surface, and transfer the contours of the details of the head and feet to it according to the patterns.

Then fold the remaining material in half along the edge line. Having laid out paper patterns of legs, handles and a puppet body on it, circle them and cut them out. We fold the paired parts together and sew along the contour with a machine seam.

Don't forget to leave seam allowances. The width of each of them should be 5 millimeters. We cut out the head and feet with the exact same allowance. Having stitched the details of the arms, legs and torso in pairs, we turn it right side out and stuff it as tightly as possible with synthetic winterizer or holofiber. Thus, we get blanks of puppet "organs" and can proceed to the most important part - the manufacture of the legs of our Snowball.

How the legs are made

We already have cloth blanks for feet with seam allowances. We duplicate the details on thick cardboard, this time doing without allowances. That is, we circle them strictly along the contours. Having placed each cardboard insole on a workpiece of material, we wrap the fabric edges and sew or glue with a heat gun.

After that, the feet should be attached to the legs so that the cardboard insoles are inside. The parts are sewn together with hidden seams.

Having finished with the legs, we proceed to the manufacture of the puppet head. Carefully sew its front part with the back along the side seams. At the bottom there should be a slot about a centimeter wide. We finish by connecting the back parts of the doll's head together. We turn the hollow bag inside out and stuff it tightly with holofiber, after which we carefully put it on the neck and fasten it with a hidden seam.

Clothes for Snowball doll

So, the body is ready. It remains to make a suitable outfit for our beauty. We offer to "create" her an elegant dress with knickers, a coat and, of course, cute shoes, in which our Snowball doll will be shod. Their pattern is transferred to the fabric, outlined and cut out with the same indent from the edge of 5 millimeters.

It is not customary to take off and put on shoes for such dolls. Therefore, you can sew the sole of each shoe directly to the doll's leg. We connect the details of the upper parts of the shoe along the front seam, then try on the shoes for the doll. And baste the back seam.

If the fitting was successful, we sew the back seams on the typewriter, then the shoes should be turned out and put on the doll legs. With the help of a "forward needle" seam, their upper part is connected to the already fixed sole. You can mask the seam line with a suitable braid or narrow lace. And on top of each of the shoes, sew neatly cute bows.

little secrets

It is quite easy to sew puppet knickers - these are small harem pants, picked up just above the edges with elastic bands and trimmed with elegant lace. Pay attention to the sequence of actions. First, you need to carefully pull the pantaloons onto the finished doll legs and only then sew these legs to the doll's body. Parts should be fastened using the through stitching method.

The dress of the Snowball doll is very easy to sew, here you can do without any pattern. Cut out a rectangle with a length equal to the intended length of the dress. And we get the width by taking two fullnesses of the future doll in the widest place. Having processed the edges of our rectangular patch, we decorate them with lace. Then we connect everything along the side seam.

We skip the thread along the upper edge with a basting stitch. Having pulled the dress over Snezhka, we tighten this thread on the doll's neck.

Final stage

Let's move on to sewing a coat. We take a couple of pieces of dense fabric and chop off facing each other with the help of pins. We transfer the coat pattern to this double layer. The workpiece is stitched along the contour. Do not forget to provide a small slot so that the product can be turned inside out.

In the same way, we cut out the coat sleeves folded in half and stitch along the contour in the same way. We turn each of the details and iron it with an iron. Then we insert the doll handles into the sleeves.

Pulling our coat over the doll and reinforcing it with a decorative button, we sew the arms in the same way as the legs, using a through fastening.

Here our bigfoot is almost ready! It remains to take care of her hair.

doll hairstyle

Let's say we decided to make a doll hairstyle with bangs. In this case, to make hair, you need to take two different lengths of yarn. For quick cutting of strands, take any solid object of suitable length, such as a ruler, notebook or hardcover book. We wind the yarn on such a base and carefully cut along one of the edges.

The short strands prepared for the bangs are alternately sewn along the intended line. All other hair should be fixed in a similar way along the contours of the semicircles, which are marked on the back of the doll's head.

Having sewn all the hair, decide how exactly the hairstyle of our doll will look. It can be puffy ponytails, neat pigtails, or just a bunch of hair tied with an elegant ribbon.

Face and makeup

It's easy to draw a face for Snowball. In place of the cheeks, gently shade the blush of a suitable shade. The eyes, as mentioned above, are either drawn with acrylics, or outlined with a pair of neat stitches, or made from a pair of dark beads.

So our charming Snowball doll is ready! Now you can take a picture of it, put it on a bookshelf, or give it as a gift to your daughter or best friend.

Many, probably, looked at beautiful interior dolls in different clothes, with meager accessories and even their pets under their arms. How I would like to have one at home, so that it decorates the dressing table in the bedroom or sits on a shelf with your favorite books. The prices of author's interior dolls usually bite, but what a beauty it is! I won’t say that if you decide to sew an interior doll with your own hands, it will cost you a penny. If you have already been sewing dolls, tried your hand at this business and you still have different fabrics, including doll knitwear, then yes, you will have to spend money only on a wig, brooches, buttons, bows. If there are no scraps at home, all materials will need to be purchased from scratch, but they will be enough for several dolls. That is, in general, it is cheaper to buy one doll than to make it if you are not going to make it your hobby. And for those who are still inspired and ready to create, a pattern and a guide to it, how to sew a doll.

Step-by-step master class on how to sew an interior doll

For the doll you will need:

knitwear for the calf of the pupa (you can "white angel"),
foam ball,
holofiber (synthetic winterizer or synthetic winterizer) for stuffing,
threads, scissors, sewing machine, and other tools.

For clothes:

knitwear or cotton for panties or knickers,
cotton for dress,
tulle,
finished shoes for dolls,
a wig (or tresses) and various accessories.

We print the pattern on A4 sheet. The height of the pupa according to this pattern will be 23 cm. The ball for the head is 5-6 cm.

If you need a bigger or smaller doll, you can increase/decrease the pattern on the monitor (by pressing ctrl + turn the mouse wheel), and then carefully transfer it to a sheet of paper, attaching it directly to the monitor. To get a doll with a height of 27 cm, we will increase it on the monitor so that the body with the head is 22 cm. A foam ball for such a doll will need a diameter of 9 cm.

We transfer the pattern to the fabric with seam allowances of 0.3-0.5 cm. Cut it out. In places of folds on the allowance, we make shallow cuts so that the seam does not pull later.

We sew all the details of the calf, leaving holes in the arms and legs (where the hatching is on the pattern). In the head we leave a hole for the ball, as well as a hole at the bottom of the body, through which we will fill the body with holofiber.

We turn the details on the front side.

We wrap the foam ball with synthetic winterizer, insert it into the head. When the fabric is pulled together, wrinkles naturally form on the foam ball. You can remove them as follows: glue the fabric at the point of contraction with glue and press it against the ball, then the folds turn out to be flat and they will not be noticeable under the wig or cap. Any super glue that dries quickly and leaves no odor will work.

We stuff the arms, legs and torso with holofiber very tightly.

We sew up all the holes in the handles, legs and body with a hidden seam.

Handles are usually sewn to the body along with clothes. The legs are stuffed into pants, then attached to buttons, that is, first you also need to think about clothes. If you put shoes on this doll, she will stand steadily on her feet without support.

How to sew clothes for a doll

We cut pants from knitwear. We sew.

We put pants on the doll. Sew the legs to the body. We put on shoes.

Dress - a wide strip of colored material, gathered in folds at the top (on the neck). The width of the strip depends on the desired length of the dress. The sleeves are also just strips of fabric.

The same with tulle (petticoat).

From the knitted strip cut out a scarf and a hat. Sew on a pompom.

We attach tresses, put on a hat and scarf.

We draw eyes with acrylic paint or sew with a French knot. Cheeks are lightly powdered with ordinary powder or dry pastel.

Sometimes you really want to create something unusual, sincere, beautiful, for example, to sew a lovely doll. But one little thing stops ... To work, you need a full-size textile.

And this article will just help needlewomen solve this problem. From here, the life-size textile of the manufacturing technique that most of all impresses him will migrate to the master's piggy bank. And then let your imagination help you create something that will surprise and conquer everyone around.

Such different hand-sewn dolls!

The child learns the world through the game. And that is why textile dolls appeared on earth. They served as toys for children from poor families and were created using the most primitive technology.

But gradually, manufacturing as a separate type of creativity occupied its niche in needlework. It can even be called one of the trends in art. Today there are dolls not only for games, but also for decorating the interior. Often they are also used as a heating pad for a teapot.

Arms and legs are sewn to the body in the right places. Some put shovchik in their knees. Then the tilde will be able to bend its legs. Just don't stuff too much in this case.

The face of the tilde is not very developed. Usually the master is limited to small eyes, sewing on buttons or beads, or embroidering a small “dot”. But more attention should be paid to hair - this is an important part of the appearance of a real tilde.

waldorf doll

Most often, the tilde is an interior decoration. But the Waldof doll is quite suitable as a children's toy. And all because the face of these cute babies is worked out with greater accuracy than it is done with tildes.

A distinctive feature of these dolls is their protruding nose. Making it is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. It is enough to first make a blank for the head - make a ball out of the fabric and fill it tightly with filler. Then a bead or a smaller ball is attached to the template - it will imitate a spout. A thin layer of padding polyester is laid on top of the resulting workpiece and the main fabric is stretched. Now it is clearly visible that the nose rises above the cheeks.

The face itself is either carefully drawn with paints or embroidered with floss threads.

Sometimes craftsmen pay special attention to the toes and handles of pupae. This is true for those toys that depict babies. It will help the master so that a textile doll has such feet, a master class.

pumpkin head patterns

And these dolls have their own technique for making the most important part - the head. It is cut out of four to six identical parts resembling a flower petal. Here is the head of which is made of 6 parts.

Hands and feet are sewn in the same way as for dolls made using other techniques. But the problem with keeping a fairly large head of a toy on a thin neck may arise before the master. Experts advise using wooden skewers to solve it. First, the body of the doll is pierced with a skewer, bringing the sharp end 4-5 cm above the cut on the neck. Then the pumpkin head, already ready, stuffed with filler, is pricked on the point. For insurance, you can use a couple or even three skewers. It is best to break off the lower end and take it out at the level of the pupa's waist.

Each master must understand that he has every right to make his own changes to the appearance of the product. Indeed, only thanks to the manifestation of the creative imagination of the authors, new technologies for the manufacture of textile dolls appear in the world and this type of creativity develops.

This MK for sewing a doll from fabric from Elizaveta Titova is suitable for beginner needlewomen, but those craftswomen who have experience can find a couple of interesting points here.

Need:

● fabric (when creating the MC, Korean cotton was taken)
● doll pattern
● scissors, thread, sewing machine, pencil
● buttons
● bamboo skewer
● stuffing stick (can be Chinese for sushi)
● stuffing material (holofiber was used here)

Pattern:
According to this pattern, a doll with a height of ~ 24 cm should be obtained. Do not sew up the places marked with a dotted line. The way the equity goes is marked on the pattern with arrows.

Fold the fabric face inward to transfer the pattern onto it. The author of MK made blanks for two dolls at once, a piece of material 45 × 35 cm was enough for her. Leave 5 mm allowances everywhere except for the head and neck - they need 1 cm allowances. Sew all parts of the dolls on a typewriter (stitch length 1.5 mm), excluding the head. Do not forget to leave holes - later you will turn out the details with them.Cut out the parts of the head.

Sew the tucks on them, fold them with the right side inward and sew along the contour, leaving a hole for eversion (it is located between the tucks).

Cut out the details. You will need zigzag scissors for this. If they are not, just make notches in rounded places. Sew the toe on the legs. Now it's time to turn everything out.

Stuff the head and body as tightly as possible. You need to sew up the stuffing hole that you left in the head. Insert a bamboo skewer into the neck of the doll with the sharp side down, stopping approximately in the middle, break it off, leaving about 2 cm. Leave the chip - it will still come in handy.

Try on the head to the body and make a mark on the back of the head where you will later insert the skewer. Make a small hole like in the photo

1. With a piece of skewer, slide the stuffing to the sides through it. Straighten all seams. You can also add padding if needed, as shown in the photo.

2. Attach the head to the body as shown.

3. Sew it to the neck in a circle with a blind seam - it will not be visible later from under the hair (Figure 4).

Due to its direction of the lobar thread, the head seems to be slightly elongated upwards.

If you cut it the other way around, it will be shorter and wider, as in photo 5. In the 6th photo you can see from the side what the head will turn out to be.

Stuff the toe and heel on your feet. Draw your fingers on them with a pencil. Through the stuffing hole, insert the needle and thread into one of the drawn lines and begin to pull the fabric with a seam back to the needle with tiny stitches.

Do this with all fingers. The legs also need to be stuffed very carefully, sewing up the hole left earlier with a hidden seam.

The same applies to the fingers on the hands. To make it easier to stuff and turn them, you will need a wooden stick. Stuff your hands to the middle. Next, photo 2 shows how to put your hands and make a mark on them where the fasteners will be. Thread the thread in two additions into the needle, tie a knot and insert it into the attachment point, leading out into the stuffing hole, as in picture 3. Sew on the button, Through the stuffing hole, insert the needle into the attachment point from the inside out, as in the 4th photo. Pull the thread and hide the button inside your hand. Cut off the end of the thread where the needle is. Now the button should be inside, and there will also be two ends of the threads on the front side - with and without a knot. Stuff your hands lightly to the end and sew up the stuffing opening with a blind stitch. The result should be like in picture 6.

If this is difficult for you, you can do another option - immediately fill your arms completely and do them with the buttons out, like at the legs.

Set the toy's arms and legs aside - it's time to paint the doll's face.

To do this, you need several materials and tools:

● dark blue, light blue, white and black acrylic;
pencil, eraser;
synthetic brushes No. 4 and No. 1;
red-brown and white pastel pencils, as well as sepia in two different light shades, one lighter than the other;
pastel crayons - white and peach shade;
● sandpaper;
● water;
spray matt varnish.

Lightly mark two circles on your face with a pencil - this will be the iris. To make it smoother, you can circle the buttons, as in picture 1. Next, draw whites, eyelids, arches of the eyebrows, as in photo 2, nose and lips (picture 3). Circle the eyebrows, the middle of the eyelids, the contours of the squirrel, the lips, the nostrils with a sepia pastel pencil (picture 4).

With a lighter sepia pencil, draw the contours of the eyes, lips, nose. Paint over the lips with a red-brown pastel pencil, and draw the top of the nose with it (picture 1). Brush number 4 need to shade all the lines. Paint over the eyelids with white pastel, the tip of the nose, and outline the highlights on the lips (picture 2).

Draw squirrels with white acrylic, draw an iris with blue, blue can be mixed with blue. Draw the pupils in black. Add some white to the blue acrylic and circle the bottom of the iris. Again dilute the color with white to brighten the iris even more, as in photos 3 and 4.

Dilute the blue color with white but a light blue hue and use brush No. 1 to apply thin strokes to the iris (picture 1). Mark the highlights with white acrylic (picture 2). Rub the peach and white crayons on the sandpaper, mix (picture 3) and apply a blush on the cheeks with a large brush. Circle the contours of the eyes with the darkest pastel pencil, draw eyelashes. Using a nearly dry brush, apply white highlights to lips and nose. Fix the result with spray varnish.

Now you need to sew on the legs.

They will need to be sewn on with buttons. Tighten tightly and tie knots, hiding the ends of the threads in the body.

Sew on your hands.

The long end of the thread without a knot must be inserted into one shoulder, the end of the thread from the second hand into the other shoulder. Tie the ends of the threads tightly, tightly pulling your arms close to your body. Hide the ends of the thread inside it.
