The warmest winter boots for women. Winter shoes designed for low temperatures. What should winter shoes be like?

All these shoes have a thick layer of felt under the foot -11mm. I would especially like to draw your attention to the thick layer of felt under the foot only in felt boots and shoes for the Far North: torso, kitty, high boots. While retaining all the healing properties of felt boots, my shoes are warmer and much more comfortable than felt boots. All of these shoes, except the men's mules, are waterproof. Patent No. 157865. The first two photos are the outer layer of felt. The second two photos are the outer layer of leather. All have natural sheepskin lining. Sole - semi-platform -16 mm. Fifth photo - felt on the outside. Felt on the inside, sheepskin on the bottom. Welted boots. Heel - 18 mm. . Women's slippers - sixth and seventh photos. Leather on the bottom and sides. The front is sheepskin. The sole is a semi-platform. The eighth photo is men's leather slippers with felt inside. The ninth, tenth, eleventh photos are Chukchi torbasa. Welted. Lining made of natural sheepskin. The top of the gray ones is seal. The black ones have a hooded seal. . Crested seal fur and seal fur are durable shoe fur that is not afraid of reagents, dirt, or slush. Blue boots with sheepskin lining. Red felt lining. In warm shoes, felt soles are the main thing. Read about its unique properties on the first page of this site. The last photo is of children's Chukchi torbasiks. Last photo, my beaded jewelry. Moscow. 89099735393. The entire North wears shoes with an inner thick layer of felt under the foot. All these welted shoes: high boots, kitties, torbas, pimas, sewn exclusively by hand, unfortunately are not airtight. All my welted shoes on this site are waterproof. What is especially important for the middle zone. No one makes shoes like this except me. You will not buy mine, but other, as you think, warm shoes. But without a thick layer of felt under the foot, will it be truly therapeutic and warm?! The master's capabilities are limited. [email protected]

Despite global warming in the mid-latitudes of Russia, there are still many places in the world where winter remains winter. For those who face real frosts, we have reviewed winter shoes designed for extremely low temperatures.

When buying winter boots for particularly low temperatures, the first thing you should pay attention to is the upper material. His choice is greatly influenced by the intended purpose of the shoes. Take, for example, frequent alternation of temperatures. This is especially true for car travelers, because, one way or another, periodically you have to leave the warm interior to explore the area, and then return inside again. From such movements, snow and ice frozen on the street will melt when it is “plus”. And if the top of the shoe is not designed to withstand water, then the insulation will also get wet, which will significantly affect the comfort of the next “walk.” Rubber boots seem to be good for such a situation, but they are inconvenient to drive a car (well, except for a “loaf”). It is better to choose shoes with a fabric or leather upper, treated with a good water-repellent impregnation or containing a high-quality membrane.

The thermal insert made of natural fur retains heat only when dry. Should not be used when walking for long periods of time

FISHING AND HUNTING
Winter fishing also has special requirements. You have to sit in one place a lot, which means your shoes should be as warm as possible. But at the same time, the fisherman deals with water. There is always a risk that the membrane or impregnation will not withstand its direct impact - and the end of the extraction process. Therefore, it is more logical to choose a rubber top that does not get wet under any conditions. True, since we are talking about severe frosts, the tires must correspond to them - ordinary tires really don’t like low temperatures.

But for hunting or long walks on foot, the material of the upper is not particularly important. The main thing is that the leg feels comfortable when walking. And for this you need, first of all, a well-bending sole. Moreover, it should bend not only in the store, but also at the temperature of intended use.

The correct thermal pad removes moisture from the foot and condenses it on the outer surface. The foil reflects heat inward, creating a thermos effect

THE MAIN THING IS DRY!
The material, of course, is the first thing to start choosing from, but not the main thing. The main thing to consider when choosing shoes for the cold season is their ability to wick moisture away from the foot. Because achieving ideal comfort when it is neither hot nor cold is almost impossible. Therefore, if your feet don’t freeze, they sweat. And increased humidity, even during a short stop, leads to severe cooling. And no insulation will save you. But if the foot remains dry all the time, then even in not the most insulated shoes it will be warm if you move more actively.

And this is where the fun begins. It is clear that it is not so difficult to make fabric or leather boots permeable to moisture from the inside and at the same time protect them from water from the outside. The already mentioned membranes in the upper will cope with this task. But what about tires? After all, she will not be able to learn to “breathe” under any circumstances. And this is where multilayer structures come to the rescue. By the way, these rubber boots are designed for the most extreme temperatures. And all thanks to the complex internal structure. In the Kamik Goliath and Baffin Titan models with a stated operating temperature of minus 70°C and minus 100°C, respectively, the insulation is made of a separate insert like felt boots. It works as a moisture collector and removes it from the foot to its outer surface. There is foil with micro-holes, which condenses moisture, and it flows down to the sole. As a result, the feet remain dry for a long time, and condensation collects in the grooves on the inside of the sole or under the grooved insole. Drying such shoes is also not difficult: the “felt boot” is removed from the rubber boot and dries quite quickly. Due to the large thickness of the insulation, thick sole and rubber, it is inconvenient to walk long distances in them, but they are excellent for passive exposure to the cold.

The ROKS “Antarctica” model is quite close to these heat storage products. But the structure there is different. It is a fabric-leather boot, covered with a rubber galosh underneath. The insulation, just like the rubber representatives, is made in the form of a removable “felt boot” and consists of alternating layers of artificial fibrous materials. The outside of the insert is covered with a layer of foil. The insulation layer of the Antarctica is thinner than that of the Titan and Goliath, so they are designed for more active pastime or less frost.

Bare ice is common in winter. Therefore, the sole should not slip

LIGHTWEIGHT SOPHISTICATED
If you are a fan of movement - hiking, camping, hunting - then massive shoes are not for you. But thin and light does not mean cold. This is confirmed by the Irish Setter SNOW CLAW XT, Columbia TITANIUM BUGABOOT XTM OMNI-TECH, Merrell Winterlude 6 and Snowmotion 6 boots. These models have insulation attached to the top layer. Moisture is removed directly to the surface of the boot due to the “breathable” outer material - fabric or leather. The combination of impregnation and membrane gives the models water-repellent properties. And yet, despite similar general principles, the boots are completely different. Firstly, the minimum temperature. For the Irish Setter SNOW CLAW XT, for example, the stated temperature is down to minus 70°C with active use! The fact is that they use a fairly progressive Insulate insulation with a density of 2000 g/m2, which allows you to achieve this result. Columbia TITANIUM BUGABOOT XTM OMNI-TECH is also quite warm: minus 54°C with active use. But here the Insulate insulation is thinner, “only” 600 g/m2. But Merrell did not follow fashion. They have their own insulation, providing the Winterlude 6 and Snowmotion 6 models with heat resistance down to minus 32°C with a density of 200 g/m2.

Models with natural fur insulation stand apart. This material holds heat well while dry. But the trouble is that with active movement, the legs become too warm and the fur gets wet. After this, you are doomed to constant movement: the slightest stop and the cold will immediately reach your feet, and it will be difficult to warm them without a stove or heater. Natural fur also takes a long time to dry, even compared to very thick inserts made from rubber boots. So these boots are only good for short hikes or long periods of quiet sitting at the hole.

THIS IS SUCH A HEIGHT...
Boots also differ in height. In principle, high-top shoes are preferable for winter to reduce the risk of snow getting inside. But such shoes are less comfortable during active walking. Therefore, some manufacturers make low boots, providing them with attachments for protective gaiters. These are the models from Merrell. Columbia, despite its rather high boots, also has gaiters attached. But Irish Setter believes that the height of its model (up to the middle of the shin) and a tight fit will be enough to protect against deep snow.

The protrusion at the back on some models is a mount for skis or snowshoes. Very useful thing

Since extreme temperatures do not last all winter even in the Arctic, manufacturers also take care of protection from water. Most often in winter it is under a layer of snow, that is, the greatest risk of encountering it is at the bottom of the boot. Therefore, shoes for active pastime are often equipped with “galoshes” on the bottom made of rubber or polymer, which completely prevents getting wet. The upper is made of more permeable materials (models ROKS "Antarctica", Columbia TITANIUM BUGABOOT XTM OMNI-TECH, Merrell Winterlude 6 and Snowmotion 6). The decision is justified, since even the best membrane is not always able to cope with a shoe getting into a puddle.

Yes, if you prefer boots with a tongue, make sure it is sewn in. And even better - it formed a single whole with the ankle boots, forming, as it were, a boot. Only in this case is there a chance that water or snow will not penetrate into the shoes through this weakened area.

PLEASANT FLEXIBILITY
Now that we've sorted out the top and the insides, it's time to move on to inspecting the sole. This element of the shoe must also comply with the conditions of use. If long-term immobility is expected, it is better to choose a sole that is thick and porous from the inside - it will take longer to freeze. But you should understand that you can’t walk much with such a sole, your feet will quickly get tired. Therefore, for lovers of active recreation and running hunting, it is better to choose a sole that is not very thick, but allows the foot to bend easily. But long stops in such shoes are not recommended - your feet will quickly freeze.

In addition to thickness, you should evaluate the grip properties of the sole. The fact that snow in winter is deep and loose is not always true. In open areas, it is usually blown away and an ice platform is exposed. The snow thickness is also thin on the slopes. Therefore, shoes must confidently cling to both ice and uneven soil and be well cleared of snow. Some manufacturers supplement the sole tread with metal spikes. This is the ROKS “Antarctica” model. Some try to adapt the rubber compound to different surfaces and make the tread pattern as aggressive as possible. For example, the Merrell Snowmotion 6 has a 6mm tread depth and heavy-duty lugs on both the underside and sidewalls, just like an off-road tire.

DON'T PASS BY
Every self-respecting manufacturer has its own features that, to one degree or another, increase the comfort of the boots, although this no longer affects the main characteristics so much. True, there are models that are impossible to ignore.

Take, for example, the Irish Setter SHADOWTREK boots. They look like ordinary high boots with a fabric upper. The fact that they do not get wet and protect from frost down to minus 32°C is also not surprising. But they are also light, 680 grams each.

Another model that attracted our attention cannot be fully called winter. It is not designed for severe frosts. But, you must agree, how can a real motorist indifferently pass by rubber boots with the Nokian logo? Even if it is Nokian not Tires, but Footwear. The main thing here is the quality of the rubber upper. The cast construction will not allow ruptures or peeling, the sole stands confidently even on slippery surfaces, and the material itself will withstand frost down to minus 40°C. And the corresponding insulation insert can be purchased separately.

Husky boots ROKS “Antarctica S-162” (2200 RUR)

Rubber galoshes, thick thermal boots, one-piece boot, spikes on the sole.

Suitable for long periods of inactivity in the cold.

Hunting boots HSN “Los”, lightweight (RUB 3,500)

Insert made of felt and natural fur, thick sole, comfortable tightening of the ankle boots.

If you live in a cold climate or spend a lot of time outdoors in winter, then you need to approach the issue very responsibly. After all, hypothermia of the feet is fraught with very serious diseases.

Which women's winter shoes are the warmest?

Oddly enough, the answer to this question was given a long time ago and was tested not even by decades, but by hundreds of years and many generations of women and girls. Because, no matter how beautiful modern boots made of leather or suede look, truly very warm women's winter shoes are high boots, ugg boots and felt boots, that is, national versions of shoes that were invented by peoples living in cold climates. Of course, now these models have received a new fashionable rethink, but at the same time they have not lost their originality and excellent warming qualities.

High boots. Warm winter shoes for women with a boot completely covered with fur. Sometimes the foot is also covered with fur - such high boots become even warmer. Modern high boots platforms are made of high quality materials, so they do not slip. This shoe model goes well with skirts and trousers or leggings tucked in, short and long sheepskin coats, fur coats and down jackets. Their only drawback is the fairly high price, since high-quality high boots made from natural materials can cost $1,000 or more.

UGG boots. Australian version of warm winter women's shoes. These are sheepskin boots that are sewn with fur inside. They fit very well into casual style sets, however, it is almost impossible to create a romantic look with them. Ugg boots are afraid of moisture, so you need to protect them from rain and dirt, and also clean them very carefully with a special brush.

Felt boots. Well-known Russian folk shoes have been rethought by modern designers, becoming examples of fashionable and, at the same time, original and extremely warm shoes. In stores you can now buy felt boots of various colors, with heels and special waterproof polyurethane soles.

How to choose warm winter shoes?

When choosing warm winter shoes, you need to pay attention to the following factors. First of all, the warmest models are made from natural materials. This applies to high boots, ugg boots, and felt boots. Only by purchasing a pair of shoes made of genuine leather, wool and fur can you be sure that they will reliably warm you in severe frosts. Secondly, you should choose the right size. Let it be a little larger than yours, because this will create an air layer in the shoes that will reliably retain heat. Thirdly, carefully read the instructions for using the product. When you do them, you will enjoy your warm winter shoes for a long time.

I time my review to coincide with the onset of winter, which will be the fourth for my shoes. For three years it served me faithfully, so I decided to publish my observations.

For most of my life, during the cold season, I wore boots or high boots made of genuine leather/suede/nubuck with natural fur. Warm, beautiful, looks presentable. But a few years ago I realized that it was time to look for something new. Because in the first year such shoes are very warm, in the second year the natural fur shrinks a little and the level of warmth drops a little, and in the third year the difference is already obvious. Also obvious disadvantages for me are the need for constant care so that the natural materials do not lose their appearance and the shoes do not get wet, as well as the relatively high price.

Seriously concerned about the issue, what women's shoes are the warmest, I searched the entire Internet and asked everyone I knew. The result was this rating:

  • 3RD PLACEUGG boots, great and terrible. The love of many girls and the nightmare of men. I well understand the stronger sex’s aversion to this type of shoe - Ugg boots really break the proportions, even the smallest foot in them is a size 40, or even 45. But they are warm, that’s a fact (of course, I’m talking about those made from natural sheepskin)! They didn’t suit me - they were uncomfortable from the first step, not my cut, not my sole.
  • 2ND PLACEHigh boots. They are famous for their warmth, but at the same time they are a specific and frankly expensive thing. They are more common in the northern regions of the country; in other places it is difficult to buy them. Ordering shoes online is not for me, so it's not an option.
  • 1 PLACEDuct boots(pictured are mine). They warm precisely due to their swelling, that is, the presence of an air gap. They are made from modern synthetic materials, so they weigh relatively little and are easy to care for. High-quality ones do not get wet at all.
  • SEPARATE PLACE takes winter sport shoes made from ultra-modern materials, usually boots. They are incredibly warm, light and durable, but few women choose them for everyday wear, because they are “unfeminine.” I have no prejudices on this topic, and in the store I was choosing between these boots and dutiks, but the dutiks had a 50% discount, so they won.

My dutik: Women's insulated boots Outventure Median.

Shop: Sportsmaster.

Price: I didn't have any points, but there was a sale and I bought the boots at half price. Full price - 4999 rub.

"Mileage": 3 years, and I wore them in the cold season from autumn to spring, and not just in winter.

Colors: black, red, blue, white.

First, I’ll go over the advantages of the product listed on the Sportmaster website:

WATERPROOF MEMBRANE.

The Waterproof Outventure waterproof membrane reliably protects shoes from snow and slush.

For three years, the boots have never gotten wet, and this is a real salvation in the middle zone, where, as you know, the weather can throw any trick except for a tsunami. Winter is either frosty and snowy, just like on postcards, then suddenly there is slush and the road is a complete mess. In any weather these boots performed excellently.

GRIP TO SURFACE.

The textured outsole is suitable for slippery and snowy roads.

The first year the boots did not slip at all. Starting from the second, the sole rolled out a little. I won’t say that they slide very much, but there is no ideal grip in obvious icy conditions.

CONSERVATION OF HEAT.

Faux fur retains heat well during long winter walks.

During all this time my feet never got cold. At the same time, even at a temperature of -27°, I wore exclusively ordinary thin cotton socks.

And now my own observations:

WEARABILITY. Over the course of several years, these duvets haven’t changed a bit, they haven’t warmed any worse, they still don’t allow water to pass through, the sole is intact and hasn’t come off. At the same time, I walk quite a lot, and not only on sidewalks, I like to run through snowdrifts and climb in nature.

SALT RESISTANCE. A bonus that I fully feel when visiting cities such as Moscow or Yaroslavl (we use sand the old fashioned way). There is salt everywhere, tons of salt that crunches under your feet and literally eats your shoes. In the case of dutik, the consequences are limited to nasty white stains.

EASY TO CARE. Only salt stains are not immediately washed off; otherwise, plain water is sufficient. Moreover, you can wash it calmly, because the boots do not get wet. There is no need to use care products (creams, foams, waterproof impregnations, etc.), saving both time and money.

CONVENIENCE. They are truly ideal for walking: lighter compared to boots made of natural fur and leather, the drawstring on the top prevents snow from getting inside, the sole is thick, textured, without a heel - you can walk a lot in these. For even greater comfort, after a while I began to use these inexpensive Aptonia insoles from Decathlon (I don’t see the point in writing a separate review). I want to emphasize that it is not for warmth, but for greater convenience (I am a kinesthetic person, I value tactile sensations most of all) and hygiene.

(working clothes).

Winter safety shoes are boots, boots, felt boots, intended for use in the cold season in working conditions.

What should winter safety shoes be like?

The main task of winter safety shoes is to provide maximum comfort while working outdoors. High-quality men's and women's insulated work shoes are made from genuine leather, Natural fur, as well as special synthetic materials, are used as insulation. The soles are provided with special protection against slipping, which makes the products safe in winter.

Types of winter shoes

Winter safety footwear is classified depending on the area where it is used, as well as the form of execution. In the first case, shoes are distinguished:

  • for builders;
  • for security services;
  • for chemical industry workers;
  • for employees of mining enterprises;
  • for transport workers and other fields of activity.

The form of winter special shoes can be different. Boots are produced whose shafts can be shortened or lengthened; ankle boots, warm boots and felt boots. The selection of a specific type of product and model depends on the characteristics of the conditions in which the shoes will be used. So, if you have to work in it at high humidity, it is imperative that the products are waterproof. The presence of aggressive chemicals where the products will be used also presupposes certain qualities.
