The difference between eau de toilette and perfume. What is the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum or eau de parfum, which water is better and more durable? Eau de parfum and eau de parfum: what is the difference? When is it better to use eau de toilette and perfume?

As a rule, ordinary people do not see a fundamental difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum, calling both simply perfumes.

This is fundamentally incorrect - these products from the perfume industry have different durability indicators and price categories, and also differ slightly in composition.

Both eau de parfum and eau de toilette contain basic components:

  • “Extra” class alcohol;
  • essential oils;
  • water base.

The basis of which is the base note of the aroma, which is responsible for its durability. Heart notes are aromatic substances that play the role of the main theme of the perfume. At the top of the composition are light, subtle aromas that evaporate first. The difference between eau de toilette and perfumed water is that in the first the top notes of the composition are more clearly expressed, and in the second - the heart notes.

The aroma in the form of eau de toilette can be perceived completely differently than the same version presented as eau de parfum.

All perfume products can be divided into several categories:

  • cologne (EdC);
  • eau de toilette (EdT);
  • eau de parfum (EdP);
  • perfume extract (Extrait).

Overview of concentrations

Eau de Cologne, or EdC), which is commonly called cologne, was previously considered a highly sought-after perfume product. On the shelves of specialized stores one could find countless long-lasting fragrances for every taste. However, nowadays, under the name “cologne,” we are offered various options for eau de toilette with a minimum concentration of essential oils (3–5%) and equally minimal durability. Now cologne is considered the cheapest perfume and is not in great demand.

Real high-quality cologne is now available in spray form. This perfume is characterized by increased durability (stays on the skin all day), but it is extremely difficult to find it on sale.

Eau de Toilette) is considered the optimal summer perfume option. The concentration of essential oils in this product varies from 4 to 10%, and its aroma is not particularly durable, remaining on the skin for no more than three hours. In the summer, this is a huge plus - it is unlikely that under the influence of heat, the exquisite aroma will transform into an unpleasant amber.

Another advantage is availability- the product is cheaper than eau de parfum or perfume extract.

Eau de parfum

Variation of flavors called Eau de Parfum appeared on the modern market in the 80s of the last century. At the moment, the lion's share of all fragrances is offered in the form of eau de parfum. This variation of perfume contains 10–20% essential oils, stays on the skin for about four hours and has a very moderate cost.

Interestingly, eau de parfum from certain brands can be less stable than eau de toilette. And sometimes its aroma turns out to be much closer to a perfume extract than to eau de toilette, and in terms of durability it is almost as good as the first.

People who are not very knowledgeable in perfumery believe that Extrait de Parfum- the most intense, tart and very persistent aroma, which must certainly be felt within a radius of several meters from the owner.

However, this is not at all true. Real perfume extracts have a subtle and barely perceptible aroma, which can only be “heard” in close proximity to a person. The main difference between the extract is that it is a body odor that contains a minimum of alcohol and a maximum (10–30%) of aromatic oils, therefore it almost does not evaporate on the body, remaining noticeable throughout the whole day. On cotton fabric, perfume extract can last for 30 hours or more.

Extrait de Parfum scents are unique and inimitable; they will never allow the owner to mix with the crowd, getting lost among other scents. To create them, perfume houses use only the best compositions of the highest quality - which is why perfume extracts are not affordable for every person. These products are produced in limited quantities, and it can be quite difficult to find real Extrait de Parfum on sale. As a rule, perfume stores only offer extract testers, and you have to order the full version of the perfume.

What to choose?

At first glance, the choice seems obvious: the most durable remedy is perfume extract, but since it is not cheap, you should give preference to eau de parfum as a fairly persistent, but at the same time not too expensive perfume. However, it's not that simple.

In fact it turns out that odor persistence depends not so much on the concentration of essential oils used in perfume, but on the aromatic substances themselves. It also happens that toilet and perfume variations of the same aroma differ significantly in smell. In addition, perfume houses very often experiment with existing scents, adding new substances to ready-made compositions in order to improve the smell or discover a new one.

Therefore, choosing the right option that is right for you can only be done by trial.

  • Eau de toilette are considered an ideal option for the summer heat, since such perfumes are usually light and unobtrusive, evaporating from the skin the fastest (and they can be reapplied throughout the day). They are best chosen by people who are constantly looking for new scents. Eau de toilette is inexpensive, so even if you don’t like the smell or don’t like it, it won’t be a big tragedy.
  • Perfumed variations suitable for almost everyone. As a rule, their aromas are more intense and persistent, so it is better to use such water in the cool season.
  • Perfume extracts- the most persistent variations, but you can only smell such an aroma when you are a few steps away from its owner. They are considered an ideal choice for special occasions and romantic settings, although they have a very impressive cost.

The only thing you should never do is give in to the temptation to buy cheap perfume in a transition or on a spontaneous market. These products are of extremely low quality and, therefore, are unlikely to meet your expectations.

What is better: eau de toilette or perfumed water?

How not to get lost in aromas when choosing women's perfume? What's the difference? Intricate bottles with fragrances always attract curious ladies. But not everyone can figure out how to choose the right perfume. After all, some perfumes (very rarely) can contain up to 300 aromatic components. In modern perfumery, perfumes contain no more than 80 components. Perfume is typically derived from the aromatic oils of plants and also uses synthetic ingredients. More often women's perfume represent a mixture of these two species. Synthetic additives do not harm the quality of perfumes; on the contrary, thanks to a wide range of combinations, the perfumer gives a new sound to familiar aromas. Coco Chanel herself also said on this occasion that it is primitive and boring to smell just like a violet or a rose.

Today, ladies with the help of fragrances are trying to create their own image, unique and delightful. They create it with the help of spirits, or eau de toilette or perfumed water. All fragrances are divided into 14 families:

  • Oriental (soft, floral, oriental)
  • Woody (chypre, dry wood, woody)
  • Freshness (citrus, aquatic, aromatic)
  • Floral (floral, fruity)

Each woman chooses for herself the notes that she likes best and is acceptable to her image: woody, oriental, fresh or floral notes.

Young people prefer light floral notes and notes of freshness - citrus, caramel and fruit aromas. Older ladies admire richer (heavier) oriental aromas, which give them mystery and zest.

The power of scents. Women's perfume is power!

It's no secret that smells literally control our emotions. So, sometimes a familiar smell from childhood or youth brings deep-lying memories to the surface. Depending on the smell, our imagination draws an image of a particular person. However, the same smell does not always evoke the same feelings in people. For example, some popular smells in the West (lavender) may seem “household” to us Russians, similar to the smell of moth plates, and vice versa. This happens because smells are very closely tied in our minds to some events in our lives. Although experts in the field of perfumery have long noticed that some fragrances can act the same on many people. These properties of odors are used to manipulate masses of people. For example, the smell of tangerines improves your mood, invigorates you, and you want to somehow cheer yourself up, pamper yourself, buy something. And this method is used in supermarkets. But to improve performance, the aromas of mint and, of course, lily of the valley are suitable.

Many ladies have a question, what better eau de toilette or perfumed, and is there a difference? But there is a difference. Eau de parfum has a much higher content of fragrant oils, so it is more durable. In eau de toilette the percentage of oils is lower and higher than other synthetic additives. Here is a table of scent durations.

Rules for choosing women's perfume

  • Apply perfume to your wrist (yours).
  • Do not inhale the perfume from the bottle; you will not feel anything other than the volatile evaporation of alcohol.
  • Spray the sample on your wrist or tester and wait for the aroma to develop. During the first minutes, volatile substances evaporate. Perfume is interesting because in the first 10 minutes you get one impression of the aroma (this is the top of the perfume), and in the next 2 - 3 hours, when the top evaporates, the core of the aroma of this perfume will be revealed to you. It is this smell that will determine the character of the perfume.
  • Do not buy women's perfume momentarily, but choose a few testers you like to take home and continue tasting an hour later. And then go shopping.

There are so many things in cosmetic stores that it can get confusing. Eau de toilette, eau de parfum, cologne – we’ve at least roughly figured this out. But only a few people know what to do with hair fragrance or perfume oil. What actually stands behind all these terms?

In fact, the standard classification is simple. It is based on the amount of pure aromatic substance in the final formula:

cologne(eau de cologne) – this is only 2-5% of pure aroma essence;

Eau de Toilette(eau de toilette) – 5-12%;

Eau de parfum(eau de parfum) – 10-20%;

perfume(parfum) – from 20 to 40%.

“When deciding which scent to use today, you should focus on where you plan to spend the next few hours,” suggests Santa Maria Novella director Gianluca Foa. – More “airy” formulas are suitable for the office and travel. And for festive events and outdoor activities, richer scents are good.” It is also useful to remember that depending on the time of year and the humidity of the climate in which you find yourself, the same perfume can reveal completely differently. In cold weather and high humidity, as a rule, more concentrated aroma formulas are good.

Who's new

Literally any day now the first representatives of a completely new perfume category will appear on the shelves - perfume oils. They will be released by Dior (J’Adore Touche de Parfum) and Giorgio Armani (Sì Huile de Parfum). The new products contain the same high concentration of pure aromatic substances as in perfumes. Only they are dissolved in oil, and not in an alcohol base. “Thanks to this innovation, familiar aroma molecules “sit” on the skin in a completely different way. After all, floral notes reveal themselves more clearly when in oil. While woody ones feel better in an alcohol base,” says Dior House perfumer François Demachy.

J "Adore Touche de Parfum, Dior; Sì Huile de Parfum, Giorgio Armani

However, perfume historian Elisabeth de Feydeau does not agree that perfume oil is a new product: “Actually, the history of body aromatization began with it. In the ancient East, aromatic oils were used by priests and rulers. And a little later - and women (for seduction, of course!). The first “alcohol” perfumes appeared only at the beginning of the 17th century. These were colognes that were applied straight from the bottle. The atomizer is a twentieth-century invention.”

However, modern perfumed oils have still come a long way from their ancestors: thanks to their dry texture, they are absorbed instantly. No risk of getting your clothes dirty! They can be used independently or mixed with alcohol perfumes from the same line. You can drop it into body cream, into the bath, or apply it to the ends of your hair. By the way, about hair.

Hair smell

Scented hair mist has been available for many years, but these products still remain a mystery to most girls. From the name it is clear that you need to spray them on your hair. The only question is why. Why not use your usual perfume for the same purpose? “The haze has less alcohol than a traditional perfume. In addition, it usually contains conditioning components. Therefore, the haze not only does not dry out the hair, but takes care of it,” says Dior aroma expert Yulia Parinova. This is why mist should not be sprayed on the skin. This will be equivalent to applying hair conditioner to your body instead of cream.

How often have each of us thought about how cologne differs from eau de toilette? When shopping for perfume, the most common guideline is the aroma, its intensity and cost. Few people think about what is in their hands - cologne, perfume or eau de toilette.

And yet, what is the difference, besides price and brand?

Cologne

What is the difference between cologne and eau de toilette? To do this, it is necessary to consider in detail the composition of each fragrant product.

Cologne is a perfume that contains the smallest concentration of fragrant substances: approximately 8% among 70-80% alcohol. This is why the smell of cologne is more alcoholic than scented.

Colognes became especially widespread at the end of the 19th century, when they began to be produced as cheap analogues of expensive perfumes. As a result of such “innovations” in the world of fragrances, perfumers began to replace natural ingredients with synthetics. Of course, this significantly affected the quality of the cologne, but the cost of the fragrances was reduced.

However, the demand for cologne was enormous, so perfumers began to produce cheap analogues of popular expensive perfumes in large quantities, but with a low concentration of 5%. Although this did not affect the basic formula of the composition.

So, cologne is a type of perfume that differs from others, including eau de toilette, in its low concentration, durability and price. But, nevertheless, this does not detract from its popularity among buyers.

Eau de Toilette

The difference between cologne and eau de toilette, as was found out earlier, is the durability and concentration of flavored components. Although it cannot be said that the concentration is much higher than that of cologne.

So, for eau de toilette it is 8-10% in 80% alcohol. This indicator enhances the emphasis of the top and middle notes, but there is no fragrant trail from the eau de toilette. The durability of this water is slightly greater than that of cologne, but this does not allow it to be used once a day. On the contrary, in order to retain its aroma, eau de toilette must be applied to the skin several times a day. It is also suitable for the hot season, and will also eliminate the unpleasant odor when playing sports. In summer, when the pores of the skin open under the influence of temperatures, eau de toilette comes into contact with the true aroma of the body and intensifies its scent. This is also the difference between cologne and eau de toilette, since the latter does not depend on the scent of the skin.

Many famous brands prefer to produce this type of perfume with a concentration of 10%. The thing is that it is cheaper to produce, but at the same time it does not negatively affect the aroma.

The eau de toilette smells good and is reasonably priced. It can also be purchased in various volumes: from 30 to 100 ml. This is convenient for those who like to carry a bottle of their favorite scent with them. The large bottle will remain at home, and its “smaller copy” will always be at hand.

Perfume

We found out how cologne differs from eau de toilette. Perfume is another type of perfume, which differs from all others in its highest concentration (20-30% of fragrant substances). Their longevity is also excellent and their scent lasts all day. And of course, such advantages affect the price.

Perfume is recommended for use in the evening and during the autumn-winter cold weather. This is all due to the fact that perfumes have pronounced trail compositions. Their perception for the human sense of smell is very acute and in the morning hours such an aroma can cause a headache, since the sensitive receptors work at maximum.

Many people note that even a small amount of perfume applied to the skin and hair retains a lasting aroma even the next day. Therefore, you shouldn’t go overboard with the amount of perfume. In this way, you can ruin the entire impression of even the most exquisite aroma. Spirits love moderation.

Eau de parfum

Another type of perfume is eau de parfum. It is also called perfumed perfume. And all because this type of aromas, in terms of the concentration of aromatic substances, occupies an intermediate position between eau de toilette and perfume.

Thus, 80% of the alcohol base accounts for from 12% to 20% of fragrant components. What do these indicators indicate?

  1. The persistence of eau de parfum lasts for 7 hours.
  2. The most intense aroma is the middle shade of the aroma range.
  3. For morning perception, this daytime perfume will be harsh.

The advantages of eau de parfum are also its reasonable cost and convenient bottle with a sprayer. Such perfumes are very convenient to take with you and, if necessary, use during the daytime.

Concentration and persistence: where is the connection?

What is the difference between cologne and eau de toilette? Concentration and stamina. These characteristics are distinctive for all perfumed products described earlier. It has long been believed that the higher the concentration of fragrant substances, the longer the durability of the aroma. There is also a scientific opinion that says that it is not the quantity of aromatic components that is important, but their quality, that is, their composition.

But it has been proven that some factors influence the durability of the aroma:

  • skin type - the more oily the skin is, the longer it retains the perfumed aroma;
  • time of year: in the heat, aromas appear much faster, but their persistence is much lower, but in winter the persistence is much better;
  • human sense of smell: for some, smell receptors quickly “remember” new aromas and simply do not perceive them the next day.

So, due to the concentration and persistence of aromas inherent in all types of perfume, they are divided into morning, afternoon and evening:

  1. Cologne, as the most “unobtrusive”, should be applied in the morning.
  2. It is better to use eau de toilette, as well as perfumed water, during the daytime, several times.
  3. But leave the perfume for the evening.

Popular colognes and eau de toilettes

All types of perfumes have their favorites. So, among colognes the following are popular:

  1. "Carolina Herrera 212 Men" is a masculine fragrance with hints of sandalwood, grapefruit, ginger and musk.
  2. Acqua Di Gio" - citrus, rockrose and jasmine flowers.
  3. Cool Water for Men from Davidoff - a tandem of rosemary and musk.

Among the eau de toilette, both for men and women, the following are distinguished:

  1. Pour Femme from Lacoste is a women's floral woody musky perfume with main shades of sandalwood, suede, incense and cedar, and middle shades of hibiscus, Bulgarian rose, jasmine, white heliotrope.
  2. Bleu De Chanel is a popular men's eau de toilette. The emphasis is on citrus notes.
  3. J`Adore from Christian Dior is a feminine scent from a famous perfumer. The base consists of musk, vanilla, blackberry, cedar, leaving a sophisticated trail. In addition, it contains tones of peach, pear, tangerine, melon and bergamot, plum, tuberose, violet, orchid, jasmine, lily of the valley and rose.
  4. Versace Man Eau Fraiche is a men's fragrance from Versace.

Gender

Perfume, eau de parfum, cologne and eau de toilette (the difference was revealed earlier) also differ by gender. Fragrances for men and women differ not only in their richness, but also in the combination of selected components.

The difference between cologne and eau de toilette can be determined by gender. For example, cologne nowadays is purely one that contains various ingredients. However, his stamina leaves much to be desired. But for a morning trip to work - just right.

Perfume is more the domain of women, but men's fragrances are also produced. It is in combination with a real feminine scent that perfume reveals itself in a truly, more intense way.

Eau de toilette and eau de parfum are the most widely purchased products for acquiring fragrance. Therefore, there are both male and female versions, and there are also (and not uncommon) unisex scents that are considered “bisexual,” but are appropriate for the younger generation.

Conclusion

What is better cologne or eau de toilette? Perfume or eau de parfum? In terms of durability, cologne is famous for its “masculinity”, eau de toilette is ideal for daytime, and perfumed water combines all of the above qualities, but not to the fullest.

Everyone will choose for themselves what suits them: how intense the scent they want to smell or how long they want to keep the chosen aroma.

Favorite eau de toilette is an important element of a modern girl’s wardrobe. On the dressing tables of Parisian women there are luxurious bottles containing enchanting scents. Many of them strive to put together an individual collection of perfumes - after all, expensive eau de toilette from premium brands can instantly improve their mood and give them self-confidence.

Choosing the perfect eau de toilette is a pleasant experience, which, however, can sometimes be confusing. Indeed, it is very important to choose “your” scent, which will not get boring after a short time. Standing in a perfume store, it can be difficult to decide which of these beautiful bottles will be the best decoration for a woman’s image. Our article will help you understand the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum and which scent is better - chypre or floral.

What is the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum?

In order to figure out what is more durable - eau de toilette or eau de parfum, you need to know the classification of perfumed products. This information will certainly come in handy when choosing the best perfume for yourself or as a gift.

All perfume products consist of water, alcohol and aromatic substances. Depending on the ratio of these ingredients, perfumes are divided into the following groups:

    perfume - Parfum or Perfume- This is the most concentrated type of perfume. The content of aromatic essences and essential oils in them reaches from 20 to 40% in 90% alcohol. Perfume has a pronounced, rich and persistent aroma with bright notes of trail that lasts for several days, so they are usually used in the cold season, mainly in the context of evening events. In hot weather, the aroma of perfume may seem too heavy;

    eau de parfum - Eau De Parfum (EDP)- contains 15-20% aromatic substances in 90% alcohol. This product is also called day or toilet perfume. This concentration allows you to focus on pronounced heart notes. Eau de parfum is suitable for daytime use with careful, light application;

    eau de toilette - Eau De Toilette (EDT) is a lightweight spray that was originally used as an affordable alternative to perfume. Today this product is considered the most popular type of perfume products. Eau de toilette contains 8-15% essential oils and other aromatic elements dissolved in 80% alcohol. This product has bright top and middle notes, but the trail nuances are only slightly felt. Good eau de toilette is universal, it can be used in winter and summer, day and evening, it is suitable even for hot climates or outdoor activities;

    cologne - Eau De Cologne (EDC)- an even less concentrated type of perfume. This product contains up to 5% odorous substances dissolved in 70-80% alcohol. Typically, colognes are designed for men and have corresponding scents with fresh, marine or woody notes;

    perfumed products for body care, which includes a wide variety of body care cosmetics that quote the basic aroma of eau de toilette - shower gel, moisturizing milk, nourishing cream and others. Such products are usually sold in a gift set with a bottle of perfume. Their purpose is to support the aromas of eau de toilette for women and increase the durability of their favorite scents. High-quality skincare cosmetics do not contain alcohol at all, so as not to dry out the skin, and the concentration of fragrant components in it is about 1%.

Types of eau de toilette

Sometimes it can be very difficult to understand which eau de toilette to choose for a young girl, and which scent is best for an elegant adult lady. To solve this issue, you need to have an idea of the existing classifications of fragrances. This knowledge will give you the opportunity to choose your ideal scent for the rest of your life or, conversely, conduct successful experiments by choosing a new perfume or eau de toilette within your favorite family.

It is perhaps impossible to create a unified system of odors. Today, perfume companies sometimes invent synthetic aroma ingredients, and scent connoisseurs strive to fit them into existing schemes or reimagine them. In this article we will tell you about the system proposed in 1990 by the French Perfumery Committee (Comite Francais De Parfum), the entire variety of scents used in perfumery is divided into seven large groups or families:

    citrus- the basis of these aromas are essential oils obtained from the zest of citrus fruits - orange, bergamot, tangerine and many others. Light and energetic, citrus eau de toilette for girls will perfectly complement your morning look and give your image freshness and vigor;

    floral- they use essences extracted from fresh flowers: roses, jasmine, lilac. Such a delicate and romantic scent will create a seductive image, ideal for a first date;

    woody- warm rich notes created on the basis of essential oils of various tree species: cedar, sandalwood, vetiver. These nuances are often used to create unisex perfumes; they will also organically complement a discreet office wardrobe;

    eastern- spicy and tart scents created using animal notes - musk and amber, or classic spices - cinnamon, cloves, coriander. Such scents are more suitable for luxurious appearances in evening dresses;

    leather- a relatively small family consisting of dryish tart aromas. These notes are used to create men's and women's perfumes. Leather scents go perfectly with laconic clothes in a men's style - a business suit or, on the contrary, a rocker biker jacket;

    chypre- this group got its name in honor of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and the perfume of the same name, created in 1917 by perfumer Francois Coty. In such perfumes you can catch notes of incense, oak moss and patchouli. Relaxed chypre perfume will perfectly complement a casual look;

    wine glasses- complex aromas with notes of wood moss, lavender and coumarin. These warm scents are ideal for the cold season, as well as for everyday life and work.

Of course, this classification is very conditional. Most existing perfumes can be classified into several families. For example, a good eau de toilette from Lancome Tresor is considered an oriental floral scent, and its popular flanker Tresor Midnight Rose is a fruity floral scent.

Which is better - eau de toilette or perfumed

So, whose scent is more lasting - eau de toilette or perfumed water? On the one hand, it can be argued that eau de toilette is less persistent due to the lower concentration of aromatic essences. However, it happens that the smell of regular cologne lasts much longer than the aroma of perfume. It can be argued that it is not easy to clearly determine the durability of eau de toilette.

Firstly, longevity depends not only on the concentration of aromatic substances, but also on the ingredients used. It has been proven that the most persistent notes are oriental and woody, but light fruity nuances fade much faster.

Secondly, even the best eau de toilette for women reveals differently on different people. This concerns not only the expressiveness of the sound of individual notes, but also the durability in general. Sometimes it is impossible to predict how a perfume will behave on the skin - so before deciding on a purchase, you should listen to the aroma of the product on yourself.

But even if you no longer smell the perfume on yourself, you should not be upset - perhaps your nose is simply accustomed to the aroma. Ask friends or family to evaluate the smell a few hours after application - it is quite possible that other people can still smell it.

Composition of eau de toilette

It's no secret that expensive perfume or eau de toilette smell differently throughout the day. Subtle nuances, when mixed, create a unique composition with a delicate aftertaste. The best eau de toilette for women gives an excellent scent that gradually changes and appears in a new way after some time after application.

The idea of a fragrance pyramid first appeared in the 19th century, when, with the development of perfumery, mono-aromas were replaced by more complex compositions of several ingredients. Master perfumers soon developed a theory about the scent pyramid, which helps them create the perfect perfume and predict how the scent will change over time after application. This concept is based on information about the evaporation rate of various essential oils and essences.

Traditionally, the aroma pyramid includes three steps:

    top notes (“head”). Top notes are the opening chord, the first thing a person will feel when opening a bottle of eau de toilette. They open instantly and set the tone for the aroma during the first 10-20 minutes. As a rule, they make up about 20% of the total fragrant substance. Citrus or fruit scents are used as top notes - grapefruit, raspberry, honeysuckle;

    middle notes (“heart”). The middle notes reveal themselves in all their glory after the top chords evaporate. The heart notes are also called the “core” of a fragrance because they represent its main character. These smells have a fairly long duration - up to 5 hours. As a rule, the heart range is very soft, it includes delicate flowers or tart oriental spices: rose, jasmine, coriander;

    base notes (“base notes”). Middle notes gently help the scent trail, which makes up 40-50% of the entire aromatic composition, to sound. Mixing with the heart notes, the basic nuances reveal the fullness of the scent and remain on the skin for up to 8-10 hours, responsible for the “aftertaste” of the perfume. As a rule, the base notes are heavy, rich scents - amber, musk, vanilla, leather, and various resins.

Modern perfumers sometimes create innovative scents, experimenting with the traditional pyramid and making smells sound in an unusual sequence. However, most eau de toilette and perfume waters still have a classic structure. For example, La vie est belle eau de toilette for girls, created in 2012 by perfumers Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo, boasts the following pyramid:

    top notes are fruity: black currant and pear;

    heart notes are iris, jasmine and orange blossom;

    base - patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla and almond praline.

Such a complex, expressive composition sounds great on tender and dreamy young girls who love flirty dresses and sweet desserts.

How to use eau de toilette

Having chosen your ideal scent, you should figure out how to apply eau de toilette correctly, because inept use of perfumed products can not only ruin your thoughtful image, but also harm the aromatic product itself. To prevent this from happening, you must follow a few simple rules:

    do not forget about hair and body hygiene - eau de toilette should be applied after a shower to clean and dry skin;

    if you want to perfume your clothes, it is better to apply perfume from the wrong side to avoid stains;

    do not spray eau de toilette on jewelry - the alcohol solution can harm your favorite earrings or chain;

    Do not apply too much perfume - two or three sprays are enough.
