Frog made of paper and cardboard. How to make a jumping frog out of paper. Step by step photo lesson

During my school years, my sister and I loved to create jumping paper frogs, color them and arrange competitions: whose frog will jump further, higher, faster. Time has passed, the frogs have remained in distant childhood. But with the advent of children, many things from childhood return, and today the forgotten jumping frogs have returned, which we made with the children.

There are many options for making frogs; in today’s article I will tell you how the kids and I made a frog out of paper. If you don’t know what to do with your child when the weather outside is not suitable for walking, and the child doesn’t want to play with purchased toys, I suggest you keep him busy making such a frog. The manufacturing process takes a little time, but then you can play with the resulting craft for a long time, arrange frog races and just have a good time.

The secret to making an origami jumping frog that jumps far is its size. The smaller the frog, the better and further it jumps. To make crafts, it is better to use hard, thick paper.

  1. A4 sheet. We took white paper and then colored the frog with crayons. To make the process easier, you can take colored paper.
  2. Scissors
  3. Crayons, pencils, felt-tip pens or watercolors for coloring the jumping frog, if you decide to use a white sheet of paper rather than a colored one for making paper crafts.
  4. Desire and good mood

How to make a jumping frog paper craft - our steps.

  1. We need to make a square from a rectangular sheet. To do this, you need to bend an A4 sheet diagonally so that the opposite corners touch. Carefully smooth the fold and cut off the excess tail. Thus, we have a white (or green, if you are using colored paper) square that we have to work with.
  2. We fold the resulting square one by one along the diagonals. First on one side, then on the other. Thus, we should have the same folds in the square as in the photo. Lay out the square on the table. The resulting folds will be useful to us in order to fold the frog more accurately.
  3. We use the lines obtained in the previous step to fold the corners inside the figure. To do this, we put two nearby corners together, as shown in the photo. We do the same with opposite corners. As a result, we should get a triangle. Carefully iron all folds.
  4. We bend the lower corners of the upper part of the triangle upward towards the upper corner.
  5. We bend the same parts of the triangle in the same direction again (as shown in the photo).
  6. In order for our jumping paper frog to see where to jump, we need to make eyes for it. We bend the upper corners outward, as shown in the photo. You can color the eyes later.
  7. The top of the frog is ready, let's start making the legs. We turn the frog onto its back. And we bend one of the sides, as indicated in the photo.
  8. After the bend has been ironed well, bend the same leg again.
  9. We do the same process with the second leg of the future jumping frog.
  10. The frog's legs are ready. Next, bend the frog in half.
  11. And there was the final touch to making a paper frog. We place the frog on the table and make a bend on the body towards the legs.
  12. The jumping frog is ready. But it turned out pale due to the fact that they used a white sheet of paper. To prevent the frog from being so sad, take pencils/crayons or markers and color our frog, don’t forget to draw the eyes.

That's it origami jumping frog made of paper is ready. In order for the frog to jump, you need to press on the back. Now you can organize frog competitions. The kids and I made 4 of these frogs, painted them, gave one to each - dad, mom, daughter, son - and arranged a competition between the frogs to see who could jump further, who would be higher, who would be faster. At first our frogs tumbled more than they jumped, but then they learned to jump, and the time was spent fun and interesting :)

Making paper figures helps children develop creative skills. They love to create something out of paper and, of course, love to make different animals out of it. From this article you will learn that a DIY craft will definitely improve your mood and bring joy to your children. It is known that there are several variations of paper frogs.

Let's take a step-by-step look at several popular methods.

DIY paper jumping frog: step-by-step instructions

1. Take a square sheet of paper and fold it in half.

2. The resulting rectangle needs to be folded in half again, and then folded back.

3. On a sheet of paper you need to mark a line and diagonals. Next, you need to fold the top corners, left and right, bending them to opposite lines.

4. From the top square, fold a geometric figure - a “double triangle”.

5. The bottom square must be folded in half until its folded edge touches the bottom of the triangle.

6. At the bottom of the rectangle, bend the side edges towards the center, not reaching a little to its middle.

7. Bend the bottom part of the origami in half again.

8. The bottom rectangle needs to fold the top corners towards the center.

9. Lower the ends down and bend them outward.

10. On the front side of the triangle, lift the ends up.

11. Fold the craft in half in the center and turn it over.

You should now have a jumping paper frog. A handmade craft will bring joy to you and your children. In order for her to jump, you just need to press the back of the wah and release. It is precisely this property of “jumping” that will be interesting to apply for different games. For example, whose wah jumps the farthest is the winner. The secret of its “jumping ability” also lies in the fact that the smaller the frog, the farther it will jump.

Rectangle frog

To make this wah, take a rectangular sheet of paper. Fold your sheet in half vertically. Next, along both diagonals, make bends at the top. Then fold along the fold lines and bend inward. You should end up with a triangle. To create the front legs of your frog, you need to bend the corners diagonally.

Now the bottom piece needs to be bent in half horizontally. Then bend it towards the middle on both sides. And fold the bottom part of the workpiece in half again. Then you need to pull the corners down. To create the hind legs, fold the corners diagonally. Now bend the frog in half and bend the legs back. All that remains is to turn your work around.

Talking or singing wah

Take a sheet of paper and fold it twice along two diagonals. After adding along the last diagonal, you need to connect the left and right corners with the center line. At the bottom, the remaining rectangle needs to be lifted up and folded. Bend the corners on the sides in the opposite direction. Turn the workpiece over and fold the bottom rectangle up. Then bend the side corners.

Now unfold and fold into a square. Next, bend the bottom corner up. Turn over and repeat the previous step. Flip the center over and open the sides. You will get a square again. Fold the piece in half along the center line. All you have to do is insert your fingers into two holes - and your frog is ready.

Easy to create and decorate origami

Interestingly, the manufacturing process itself takes very little time. The paper frog you created, made with your own hands, will surprise you with its ease of execution.

All you need is a simple sheet of paper: notebook, landscape or colored. You can also use special sheets for crafts.

For decoration you will need watercolors, colored pencils or markers. You can paint your frog according to your taste and desire. For example, draw eyes or webbed feet for your frog, and you can also make pimples on the back of the “jumper.”

Now you know how to make a paper frog with your own hands. Step-by-step instructions will help you make this simple and entertaining craft. Interestingly, the frog is useful for playing with children, and you can safely organize “frog races” with the whole family, having fun in your free time.

DIY paper frog.

Now we will conduct a master class for you: how to make a frog out of paper with your own hands.
For this origami, you have a large selection of materials at hand, that is, any type of paper is suitable: from special sheets intended for origami, and ending with a regular notebook sheet, or A4 for a printer. You don't need scissors or glue. The only condition is that the sheet must be square.

1. Let's get to work. Take a sheet of paper.

2. To get a square, fold the paper diagonally.

3. If your sheet was not square, there will be an extra strip of paper left.

4. We either tear off the excess carefully or cut it off.

5. When we checked the paper for squareness, we got the first diagonal fold line.

6. Now you need to make a diagonal fold in the other direction, connecting the opposite corners of the sheet.

7. We should end up with a square with folds forming four triangles.

8. Then take the corners of the square on one side and connect them as shown in the picture.

9. We bend the opposite corners and iron them so that the inner side fits inside the triangle.

10. We do the same algorithm of actions on the other side of the structure.

11. We have the following diagram.

12. Now we take the bottom corner of the origami and fold it towards the top of the triangle. From the beginning on the right side.

13. Then we do the same work on the left side.

14. Bend the right corner of the diamond as shown in the picture.

15. We do the same with the left corner of the rhombus.

16. We made the back of a paper frog.

17. Next, to make the eyes, we bend the corners that are located at the top of the triangle.

18. We iron the origami well along the fold.

19. We bend the triangle that we have made towards the back of the frog.

20. We do the same scheme of actions on the other side of origami.

21. Now you see an origami paper frog head with eyes.

22. Now let's turn it the other way and start working on the paws.

23. We bend the origami in half and get two identical triangles.

24. Fold the right edge of the triangle along the fold line.

25. We iron the structure that we have obtained.

26. Then we fold the triangle that we have formed in the opposite direction from the fold line.

27. Origami should look like the picture.

28. Now we do the same algorithm of actions on the other side.

29. At each step, iron all folds of the paper well.

30. The frog's legs are done.

31. To make our frog jumping, we make a fold across the legs, as in the picture.

32. We iron the fold, the eyes look at us.

33. Now we are unfolding origami.

34. We need to roll the frog in the other direction so that we get an internal step. This fold is not bypassed for the further ability to jump.

35. Take the origami pattern with your thumbs and forefingers on both sides and iron the folds again.

36. Congratulations, now you know how to make a paper frog!

37. As if stroking the edge of the frog's back, press down on the edge.

38. You will see the frog start jumping.

Organize “frog races” with your child or friends to see whose jumper can jump further, higher or faster.
Additional Frog Design Tips.
We advise you to make a frog out of colored paper (using green or brown, respectively), or you can color it - paint the membranes on the varnishes in a lighter color, and the pimples on the back.
Make stickers for the eyes or draw the pupil yourself and choose the eye color. You can draw one eye closed - you will get a frog that winks.
Cut out eyelashes from colored paper and glue to the eyes. It will look very cute.

Print Thank you, great lesson +3

One of the most common crafts made from colored paper is a frog using the origami technique. Both children and adults can do it. However, if you don’t know how to make a frog out of paper, then check out this simple master class with a detailed description. This frog doesn't jump very well. But it is perfect for those who have decided to learn their first skills in folding paper crafts. Next, when you get such a small animal perfect, make a jumping frog.

Required materials:

  • Sheet of green paper
  • Plastic eyes or marker

Step-by-step photo lesson:

To make a paper frog you will need a rectangle cut from green double-sided paper.

Fold the top right corner to the left.

We open the blank. We received two auxiliary folds.

Fold the top of the rectangle into a triangle. Since the folds are already there, this will be quite easy to do!

Check the result with the photo and proceed to the next step.

We bend the right and left corners to the upper central one.

Now bend the right side of the rectangle to the middle.

We do the same on the left side.

Bend the bottom of the workpiece.

We bend it a little. Determine the fold line by eye

We turn the finished craft over and get a paper frog.

It looks like a real one - it has both legs (back and front) and a torso. You can attach plastic eyes to the top or draw them yourself with colored pencils. The skin of a frog can also be made like a real one by painting it in the form of a pimply texture with a green felt-tip pen.

Video lesson

In kindergarten, children often make appliqués, origami and other paper crafts. This creative process develops perseverance and independence, accuracy and patience, and fine motor skills. The child learns to create something with his own hands, find different and identical parts, decompose the general image into elements, and develops imagination.

You can do applique even with the youngest children. After a year, with the help of adults, the baby can stick different elements onto a sheet of paper: colored paper, natural materials, fabric, accessories, and so on. The older a child gets, the less he needs the help of parents or educators in this creative process.

Preparing for the creative process

The first thing you need to do if you decide to make an applique (for example, a frog) with your child is to prepare materials, tools and a work space. You will need: glue and scissors, pencils or markers, cardboard and colored paper: light and dark shades of green, yellow, pink, blue. The workplace needs to be covered with oilcloth. There should be no unnecessary things on the table so that nothing interferes with the creative process.

Draw and cut out a frog

To make an applique, you first need to draw or print the frog itself, which you will then help your child stick to the base. It's quite easy to draw a fairytale frog. First, use a simple pencil to mark the body of the future character from a Russian folk tale. Then draw the “ears” at the top (these will be the frog’s eyelids) and erase the line that separates the “ears” and the body. In each “ear” draw a pupil or a large eye with an iris. Next, draw a smile and front legs for the Frog Princess, then add the hind legs. The sequence of drawing the fairytale Frog Princess is in the figure below. The main element for the “Frog” applique is ready.

You can draw another frog, more similar to the real one. You can simply print out a picture of a frog for coloring or take it from a coloring book. Only in the latter case, first ask the child to color the frog, and only then start cutting out the part for the “Frog” applique.

Preparing the base for the application

Next, you need to prepare the base on which the child will stick the frog. Take a sheet of blue, yellow or white cardboard. Any color will do, but it is necessary that after gluing the details of the “Frog Princess” applique, the fairy tale character is clearly visible.

On cardboard you need to draw (or stick on parts cut out of paper) a river or a swamp, reeds, the sun, clouds, an arrow that hit the Frog Princess. You can separately cut out a water lily on which the frog will sit.

Now all that remains is to simply glue the heroine of the Russian folk tale onto the paper - the “Frog” applique is ready!

Paper frog in parts

You can cut out not the entire frog, but separately the legs, head, large eyes and body. This is a version of the “Frog” applique made from paper for older children who already know how to lay out an image into parts and work with smaller details for creativity.

You need to draw on paper two hind and two front legs of a frog, an oval body with a drawn smile, two large yellow eyes. You can also cut out strips from green paper, and rectangles with rounded corners from brown paper, and make reeds. You can also add water lilies, dragonflies, butterflies, flowers, herbs or any other details to the “Frog” applique.

You can invite your child to decorate the craft himself, because there are many options for applique, for example, the Frog Princess with an arrow that hit her in the swamp, a frog in the grass with butterflies and caterpillars, and so on. You can even make a funny frog with an umbrella. Everything is limited only by the child’s imagination.

You need to remind your child that after finishing work on the applique, you need to clean the work area, throw out scraps of paper and other materials in the trash, put away markers, pencils, colored paper and cardboard, and put everything back in its place.
