The Day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is celebrated annually on December 19. Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the most revered saints among Orthodox Christians. Saint Nicholas lived back in the 3rd and 4th centuries and became famous as a saint of God. He interceded for sinners, the poor and the mourning, performing many miracles. Everyone turned to Nicholas the Wonderworker asking for deliverance from physical and mental torment. He always helped those who sincerely needed help. Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker died in the mid-4th century, but his relics remained incorrupt. In 1087, the relics of Nicholas were transported to Bar (Italy). On this day, it is customary to ask for forgiveness for your sins, pray to the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and ask for help in important issues. Children receive sweets from Nikolai. According to legend, everything that a person asks in front of the holy image of Nicholas will certainly come true.
