We are starting to prepare for the New Year's transformation. For this we will prepare:

• foam ball,
• acrylic primer,
• acrylic paints,
• acrylic matte varnish,
• glitter (you can use other dry glitter),
• New Year's motives on printout,
• semolina,
• glue "PVA", "super glue",
• sandpaper No. 800,
• foam sponge, brushes, several toothpicks, plastic plate,
• multi-colored ribbons, a hair pin and a suitable metal piece that will serve as a fastener for the ribbons (can be taken from an old Christmas tree decoration).

Lightly sand the workpiece and cover it with primer using a sponge. It is convenient to use a cardboard reel from a roll of napkins as a stand.

After drying, sand it again a little with sandpaper and paint it in the main blue color. While the paint is drying, cut out 2 pictures and cover them with 3 layers of varnish with intermediate drying.

Now you need to thin out the printouts. To do this, moisten the back side of the pictures with a wet sponge and begin to roll up the white layer of paper.

When a thin layer of color remains, wait for the motifs to dry and then paint the reverse side with white paint. We want the print to be subtle yet vibrant.

We try on pictures for the blank. Where necessary, we tear the motif to avoid creases on the round surface. We glue the pictures to the workpiece with PVA glue, pressing well and smoothing the surface.

After the glue has dried, carefully sand the resulting folds and coat the entire ball with varnish. Next, paint the snow with white paint and add motifs where necessary.

Mix semolina with white paint in a 1:1 ratio, add a couple of drops of PVA glue and get a thick mass, which we apply to the “snowy” surface. We also designate “stars”.

After the relief mass has completely dried, cover the entire ball with varnish mixed with glitter. We cover the “stars” especially carefully to give more shine.

Now let's move on to the fastening. Let's make it from a hair pin and a metal piece.

You can simply remove such a structure from an old Christmas tree ball. Lubricate the pin with super glue and insert it into the ball.

Selecting ribbons. Blue and white are very suitable colors for the motif. It is these ribbons that we will tie with a bow on the ball fastener. We also tie a thin golden thread so that the toy can be hung on the Christmas tree. The transformation of a foam blank into an unusual Christmas tree toy can be considered complete.

Since this is the first decoupage master class in the group, I will write a little about this technique. It appeared in the 15th century. The essence of decoupage is cutting and pasting. Initially, not only paper was used for gluing, but also leather, wood, and fabrics. Any surface was taken as a basis - wood, glass, fabric.
21st century - a new birth of decoupage. It has become fashionable again, and in stores in almost all major cities you can easily find materials for various techniques of this type of creativity.

Today I suggest you decorate a Christmas ball using decoupage technique. For these purposes, not only a special blank is suitable, but also the now popular plastic balls. In addition, this is a great chance to give a second life to old glass balls.

For work we will need:
1. Ball (the larger it is, the more convenient it will be to decorate it)
2. Sponge (I use a sponge for washing dishes. It will be enough to cut a piece of it about 1x2 cm)
3. Acrylic white paint.
4. Acrylic colored paints.
5. 3-layer napkin with a beautiful pattern (preferably with not very large elements)
6. PVA glue
7. Wide soft brush (squirrel brush)
8. Acrylic varnish (untinted)
9. Elements for additional decoration (I used tinsel and semolina)
10. Scissors

Step 1
Don't forget to put newspaper or oilcloth on the table!
We cover our balls with white paint using a sponge. I have a light ball, so I apply a thin layer of paint, there are small gaps here and there. If your ball is dark, you will have to paint it on a second layer, after thoroughly drying the first one.

It is better to hold the painted ball by the “handle”. After coloring, tie a thread to the eyelet and hang it to dry. I stuck pencils under the microwave and hung them on them. Drying takes 1-2 hours. It's better not to rush. The paint may not dry and may smear.

Step 2
While our balls are drying, we cut out the motifs from the napkins, having previously separated 2 white ones from the colored layer, which we will not need. Don't be lazy - the less background left, the neater the work will look. But you shouldn’t deprive the background of very fine details either - they will simply come off.
It is better to separate the motifs from the elements - it will be easier to glue them.

Step 3
Now let's arm ourselves with a brush and glue!
It is better to dilute the glue with water 1:1.
Carefully glue the motif from the middle. Avoid folds! And don’t be too zealous with the brush so as not to tear the design.

And again we hang our balls to “rest” for an hour. In the meantime, wash the brush yourself - if it dries, then you can’t wash it.

Step 4
Now let's start tinting. For tinting, in addition to paints, you can use pastels. Those who are already familiar with this can try working with it. Those who decided to try their hand at decoupage for the first time - wait for another MK - I will definitely tell you.
Now let's work with the paint.
Mix the color we need - it’s better to stick to the color of the napkin, then you won’t have to paint the background between the parts.
We paint along the motifs especially carefully so as not to get into the drawing. The paint will not wash off the paper.
After painting, we return our balls to dry.

Step 5
We proceed to additional decoration with semolina. It gives a very interesting "frozen" effect.
The steps are simple - apply a pattern with glue (preferably not diluted) and sprinkle with semolina!
Then let it dry again.

To ensure that a little semolina sticks, sprinkle it on the area nearby, and let it roll onto the glue on its own.

When the glue dries, paint the semolina. It’s better to try not to touch the background, but if this happens, don’t despair, continue drawing with a thin line. Paint carefully - the semolina may crumble. Do not skimp on water - the thinner the paint, the better it will penetrate between the grains. You can quickly pass thick paint over the surface of the semolina - then only the upper part will be painted. This gives an interesting effect, but is only suitable for yellow-brown images - unpainted semolina turns yellow.
Well, then dry it again!

For a snowy effect we use white paint. but you can paint it with other colors.

Step 6
In fact, this is the last step of decoupage.
At this stage we have to coat our ball with varnish to give it shine, fix the paint and the napkin.
We take the sponge in our hands again and carefully apply it to the surface of the ball.
Don't forget to dry!

Step 7
After drying, our balls can be considered ready

But there is one BUT: as a rule, the place around the cutting does not look neat. Perhaps the transition from the ball to the handle will be poorly painted, or the handle itself will get dirty. But that's technical. But in fact, we want to give the ball some completeness. I used tinsel to decorate the cuttings. You can use ribbons, beads, small cones - whatever your imagination pleases.
I tied the stem with tinsel, like a bow. I simply wrapped the other ball in tinsel with wire inside and twisted its ends. To fix the tinsel on the handle, you can drop a drop of glue (it is better to use super glue) or the varnish that was used to cover the ball onto the joint.

Now our balls can take their rightful place on the Christmas tree!

If you suddenly decide to use gouache instead of acrylic paints, add PVA glue to it - then it will smear less during subsequent work.

Don't skimp on drying time. It is better to stretch out the work over several days than to get an unsatisfactory result.

Don't forget to wash your tools after each stage of work. Paint and glue can render them unusable if they dry on them. The same applies to work surfaces.

Having selected a New Year's motif in accordance with the size of the Christmas ball, cut it out and glue it to the surface. The best material in this case is napkins, in which you need to tear off the selected pattern from the top paint layer.

Advice! It is recommended to make cuts on the torn or cut out picture, which will allow the picture to take on the shape of a toy and avoid the formation of folds that must be carefully smoothed out.

For gluing, you can use PVA glue diluted with water in equal proportions. We will need:

1. Plastic blank

2. Rice paper with a suitable theme

4. Acrylic paints

5. Structural paste

6. Antique medium

7. Medium for flowing effects

8. Water-based liquid bitumen

9. Matte varnish

10. Alcohol for degreasing

The tools we need are:

Brushes,
sponge,
stencil,
palette knife,
sandpaper,
masking tape and
wet wipes.

Completing of the work:

We divide our medallion in half and degrease the sides we will be working with. Since I am going to do reverse decoupage on one of the halves, I degreased it from the inside.

I tear out the plot I like from the rice paper. I take a half with a fat-free inner side and on this side I MUST glue my motif face down using decoupage glue.

While this half is drying, I take the other half - with the outer side degreased. Using white acrylic paint, prime the surface (up to 2 times with intermediate drying).

After everything has dried well, take the stencil and attach it to the half with masking tape. We take acrylic paste (I have a universal one from Goya) and use a palette knife to apply it to the stencil.

We try to do it evenly, but if suddenly it doesn’t work out perfectly, don’t be upset - it can be fixed later. Remove the stencil and let our pattern dry well.

I take the half with the motif glued on and apply white acrylic paint over the design.

This is done in order to make our picture brighter and reveal it. Try to leave the borders of the motif intact; we will later compare them with the general background. Let's dry it.

After that, I take an antique medium (plaid 17) and a medium for flowing effects (also plaid), mix it and lightly apply it around the picture with a foam sponge (remember, all this time we are working with the inside of the medallion).

Now let's create a general background. To create a suitable tone, I needed white, green and ocher acrylic paints + a medium for flowing effects.

I also apply them with a sponge, trying to align the borders of the picture with the background so that the transition is not noticeable. Let's dry it.

I take half with a well-dried pattern. The pattern was not very neat, so I worked a little with sandpaper.

Now I paint the half in a suitable color (I mixed ocher with white). Let's dry it.

After that I coat it with varnish (I use matte acrylic varnish from Maimeri). We dry it again.

Now we take liquid water-based bitumen (Ferrario). I apply it with a brush over the entire surface, trying to get through the pattern better (get into all the cracks).

I let it dry for just a couple of minutes. Then I take a damp cloth and slowly remove the excess bitumen.

She wiped - looked - again - wiped, etc. In general, you decide for yourself when enough is enough. If you suddenly overdid it and wiped off the excess, don’t worry - repeat the “procedure” again (we have varnish under the bitumen - it will retain our main color).

After you are satisfied with the result, let the bitumen dry and then coat it with varnish (personally, I cover the bitumen with spray varnish. It does not deform the bitumen itself and does not form streaks).

Now we connect our halves. We take cotton lace (you can use ribbon) and glue it at the junction of the two halves in a circle.

We make a decorative bow from satin ribbons on top and thread a lace through it. That's all.

Decoupage inside a ball (or rather a hemisphere). Using elements of the Arte-Française technique.

I will conduct a master class using the example of such a ball.

1. Take a plastic ball of the diameter you need.

2. We cut it along the factory gluing line, preferably exactly along the contour.

4. Use sandpaper to smooth out all the irregularities at the cut site.

5. Paint the background inside the ball. You can also use aerosol paints, or you can tamp with a sponge. As you please. Use colors according to your motive. To speed things up, I painted it with an aerosol, but the background, of course, will be more beautiful with a sponge or brush, because you can create more shadows and color transitions, because... The area of ​​the ball in this case is small.

6. I take cotton pads and separate the cotton from the middle of the disc. I place suitable pieces on the bottom of the ball, having previously coated the gluing area with PVA glue. I apply it in small layers and spray each layer with varnish (you can use hairspray) or apply liquid PVA (the principle of papier-mâché made from cotton wool).

7. We print out the motifs in advance, in the size you need, several copies. I have six in the photo, but I printed more. There is a possibility that there will not be enough in the process of work, for one reason or another. Therefore, it is better to make larger quantities of the same size. (although the size can be slightly changed, here you can also show your imagination).

8. Cut out the first level, the furthest one, from one motif. For example, a horizon with trees. You can repeat this level twice, but in such a small space it seems to me that it would be unnecessary. Then the second level, we cut out a motif with trees, then a strip with houses. And glue everything layer by layer into a ball. I glue it with Moment rubber glue, sometimes I use a hot gun, and all kinds of pads to separate the layers. I sometimes use insulation for linoleums or this gasket for leveling floors under parquet boards, but I only use this when the surfaces are large. You can use double-sided tape.

9. After you have glued all the layers, add more cotton wool until the lower borders of the glued motifs are covered with cotton wool and merge together. The cotton wool is glued in the same way as described above. I glued the motifs with a slight downward shift, so my drawing seemed to be refracted. All these roughnesses can be tinted and retouched with matching paint.

10. From other printouts I cut out a central motif with a bird feeder and birds. There are fewer of them in the photo, I needed more birds. I glued this feeder separately and then glued the whole piece into a ball. Again I glued the joints and gluing areas with cotton wool and sprayed them with varnish.

11. Then I cut out fir branches from the following printouts.

12. I glued them along the edge of the ball using Moment glue, which I applied carefully along the edge of the ball. The motifs were glued overlapping, one on top of the other, to cover the cutting areas, align the composition and just for beauty.

13. After the glue had dried, I cut all the protruding parts with a stationery knife into the edge of the ball, carefully, accurately and evenly.

14. I applied snow on the spruce branches with contour paint and glitter, drew a stripe in the background like snowdrifts, and refreshed the color with snow on the trees and roofs.

15. Once dry, you can spray it with glitter varnish (suitable for hair) and cover the whole thing with acrylic aerosol varnish.

16. You can draw a circle around the edge of the ball with glitter and sparkles for beauty, etc. here you do it exactly as you want.

17. Glue the eyelet for hanging the ball onto the hot gun, tie a bow and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Mandatory conditions for work! Printouts are best done on thick paper. I did it on watercolor paper. And it’s better to make several copies at once. I made 7-8 copies.

So, the work with color begins. You should choose light colors - they are easier to darken or repaint.

We use a suitable decoupage card or napkins.

Let's move on to the artistic stage.

We take a semi-finished ball with a picture in one hand, a special sponge swab in the other and apply the first tint layer with tapping movements, then we begin playing with the color palette, adding strokes of different tones here and there... the effect is magical... as if from under one layer another one appears... very similar to laminated glass.

Then comes varnishing in 3 layers with an interval of one hour and subsequent drying for 4 hours. – “The main thing is to rotate it very quickly and evenly, otherwise the varnish will not completely cover the toy,” it is better to rotate it by the wooden leg, like a centrifuge.

Before the “diving” stage, we sand the balls, and then we bathe the toys in varnish and put them in rows to dry in special holes.

Next is a magical and very important stage - Creating cracks with a two-component craquelure varnish.

The pattern is neatly covered with a grid of many cracks.

The next three stages are applying several layers of varnish, then sanding, again varnish and sanding, once again several layers of varnish, and leave until completely dry.

The final stage was decorating with lace, which by the way was also aged. After all, the lace is taken completely new, but after a couple of hours of witchcraft and really simple manipulations it becomes ancient.

It's simple:

We brew strong and tasty coffee.. no, no.. and don’t drink it.. but dip white cotton lace in it.. then dry it, then wash it somewhere and - voila!! The old lace is ready! The process seemed pleasant, tasty, aromatic and no less creative to me. At the very end, the old bow is placed on the ball; gold braid and colored ribbons add zest. I must say, the toys look solemn.

New Year's balls.

We will decorate a plastic ball using decoupage technique. You don't need any special skills for this. So let's get started!

We will need:

Plastic balls, diameter 8 cm,
- acrylic paints: white, yellow, blue,
- acrylic lacquer,
- three-layer napkins with a pattern,
- PVA,
- sparkles,
- a little semolina,
- contours on glass and ceramics,
- flat synthetic brushes,
- a piece of sponge,
- polytra (I have a plastic modeling board).

If there are no special ball blanks, then you can use ordinary balls without a pattern.

Take a ball and a piece of sponge for washing dishes, put a little white paint on the palette, dab the sponge into the paint and hit the ball. There should always be paint on the sponge, then it looks like snow on a ball.

We do this with all the balls and hang them to dry (1 hour). Here's what happened

While the balls are drying, prepare the napkins.

Separate the top paint layer from the white ones.

Carefully cut out or tear out the motifs.

We dilute the PVA half with water and glue the motifs onto the balls. We start gluing from the middle of the motif and gradually move towards the edge.

And we do this with all motives.

For balls with bunnies, apply light yellow paint and pat on the white background around the motif.

When the paint dries, coat the ball with varnish.

The result was such beautiful balls.

Now we will make them New Year's!
We take a little white paint and pour semolina into it so that we get a thick porridge and apply it with a thin brush to the ball in those places where we will have snow.

Actions must be performed in the following sequence:

• first we clean the toy, then sand it (if you don’t have a special tool, take regular sandpaper or another rough, rough object).
• Now you need to color the ball. To do this, take acrylic paints and a small diameter brush. Applying the paint will probably be inconvenient, and to prevent your hands from getting dirty, you need to pick up a thin long stick that will be inserted into the hole of the ball.

Hint: the chopstick can be a very ordinary one - if you love sushi, you will probably still have one suitable for this occasion.

In this sense, it is easier to do than Christmas decorations - there is more space, and it is easier to paint the surface, because it is not round, but stands on the floor.

Once you have found the stick, insert it into the hole of the ball, and then put it into a small container, inserting it with the other end.

To properly decoupage Christmas tree decorations, you must first apply one layer of acrylic paint, and then another one when the first one has dried.

Apply carefully to ensure minimal lumps are formed.

If there are lumps, you need to think about the quality of the paint; you may have to dilute it a little.

The second layer is done so that there are no streaks or streaks, which are quite acceptable on the surface of the first layer.

We choose napkins for decoupage of New Year's toys with our own hands. It could be angels, snow maidens, Santa Claus, snowflakes, snowmen - anything.

Check to see if the paint is dry and continue:

• Take a napkin and separate the layer with the pattern from it. As a rule, napkins are multi-layered, so decoupling Christmas tree decorations using them is not difficult.
• We smear the back layer of the layer with the pattern with glue, and then apply it to the toy.
• The surface for decoupage must be coated with paint of the desired color. It is better to choose a warm shade. You can, however, mix several if you want to experiment.
• and on other materials from which balls can be made, applied with a washcloth. It is not necessary to use the entire washcloth; you can cut a piece from it. It would be better if there was a small square with a place to hold on to. Use your index finger to apply pressure on top of the washcloth so that the paint lays down in a more even and dense layer.
• The places where you glued the images must be left untouched, but in some cases the borders of the picture are still covered with a small layer of translucent paint.
• If you have the opportunity to find golden glitter, or some other, outline the contours of the image with it to add volume.

Important: do not forget to make sure that when decoupaging Christmas tree decorations there are no folds, otherwise the product will not look beautiful and neat.

If wrinkles do appear, and this is difficult to avoid, take sandpaper or another similar object for rubbing. Just remember - you only need to grout a dry surface.

We also make toys using glitter, depicting the contours of snowflakes, curls and other attributes with dots or straight lines.

If you have an old light bulb, you can decorate it beautifully and originally using painting or decoupage techniques. However, it is quite possible to combine these two directions to get a more attractive result.

We work according to the same scheme as when decoupaging an old toy, however, there is no need to wipe down the surface - you just need to clean it well.

It is better to secure the cleaning by degreasing - treating the surface with an alcohol solution, for example. It is necessary to apply a primer, because the napkin adheres better to it.

When all the work on decoupaging the Christmas tree decoration with your own hands has been completed, and the top coating has dried well, you can start decorating.

Lamps of unusual shapes can be decorated with various interesting charms, such as beads. By the way, in haberdashery stores you can find accessories ideal for decoration.

If the lamp has a white color and a pattern of a neutral, delicate shade, white pearl-colored beads can be attached to it with glue, which will be cut into two parts.

There is no need to cut it - everything is already sold ready-made, and the beads come in different sizes.

This decoupage is easy to do with your own hands. We don't need a Christmas tree toy here.

We will make it from cardboard. To do this, you need to cut out a ball or any other toy shape (Christmas trees, angels, etc.) from cardboard.

Make a hole in the cardboard Christmas tree decoration for the ribbon.

Then take a napkin for decoupage. We apply it to the toy and outline its contours.
