Kanzashi brooch. Kanzashi brooch: making various decorations from ribbons and beads (video)

Still, our craftswomen cannot simply stupidly fold petals into flowers. We are constantly surprised by the flights of imagination of our women. We invite you to familiarize yourself with an unusual master class on making brooches using the kanzashi technique from Olga Kurylenko.

To make a kanzashi brooch you will need:

Tape 5 cm wide;

Glue (in the photo there is glue produced in Kyiv, it is completely transparent and practically odorless, its quality is no worse than “Moment”, the advantage is that it costs 2 times less);

Scissors, lighter, tweezers.

Kanzashi brooch step by step:

Make sharp petals (squares measure 5 by 5 cm). It is necessary to pay attention to how the petals for the right and left halves are folded. It is important that the petals are symmetrical!

The finished petals need to be glued together. Apply glue all over the bottom base, the glue sets instantly. This photo clearly shows how the petals are folded! The work itself is more aesthetically pleasing, everything must be flawless!!! And in order to glue small elements and not accidentally glue your hands together, try applying glue with a toothpick (but this depends on the glue used).

Glue a petal with a half-bead to the two halves. The very top consists of two petals - the sharp petal contains a round one. First you make a round one, and then fold the sharp one, place the round one in it and solder them together.

Combine the elements of the brooch and decorate it at your discretion. IN in this case these are roses. Roses are very easy to make, first make a tube, then gather the ribbon onto a thread, making folds in some places!

The kanzashi technique is complicated only at first glance, but once you watch a few instructional videos, it will turn out that there is nothing easier to do original decoration with your own hands. This technique performs many women's jewelry– flowers on the headband for the hair, elegant multi-colored bows with an elastic band, wedding boutonnieres, elegant tie clips.

One of the most popular jewelry are brooches in the kanzashi style.

You can decorate with an elegant colored brooch Evening Dress, and if you make the jewelry in a simple style, it will perfectly complement a business suit.

How to make a kanzashi brooch: making petals

The easiest way for a beginning craftswoman is to make round or sharp petals. Square blanks measuring 4 by 4 or 5 by 5 cm are cut from satin. The number and size of blanks vary depending on your idea.

For an ordinary flower, 6-9 petals are enough.

Each square is folded diagonally 3 times. The corners are scorched by fire and connected to each other. The result is a petal. If you cut off the tip, singe the edges and join again, the petal will take a different shape.

Flower decoration

You can connect the petals in different ways, whatever is more convenient for you.

For example, collect the petals on a thread, piercing them with a needle closer to the scorched edge, and pull them together into a finished flower. Or carefully glue them together at the side edges. Step by step instructions Making petals can be seen in the training photos.

Forming a brooch

Apply glue to the felt circle and glue it to it wrong side collected flower. We form the core of the flower from a large shiny bead or a beautiful button contrasting color. Using a similar technique, you can make two or three leaves from green satin and glue them under the main flower. A training master class on this technique will give you an idea for the design of the finished product.

The finished brooch can be decorated with sparkles, beads, beads, as your imagination dictates.

Just like that, it’s easy to make an unusual and original accessory, as in the photo, for yourself or your loved ones. If something doesn’t work out the first time, you can always watch a clear and simple tutorial on how to make kanzashi.

Kanzashi is a technique for creating jewelry from small pieces of fabric and ribbons folded in a special way. Geishas decorated their kimonos and hairstyles with flowers created from scraps using this method. Hair accessories and kanzashi brooches are often worn with national costumes, but they can add elegance to any look and transform even the most ordinary outfit.

Material for kanzashi technique

Flowers made from scraps are used to create hairpins, headbands, rings, and bracelets. You can make such accessories yourself using ordinary satin ribbons. Some needlewomen create products from leather and vinyl. Let's try to make an unusual brooch together. It is best to use a material that is not too dense for work; it will be easier to fold. Silk and starched cotton are suitable.

What you need to create a decoration

Cooking necessary materials. This:

  1. a small piece of fabric, approximately 5 cm wide and 25 cm long;

  2. thick threads;

  3. quality sewing needles;

  4. scissors;

  5. beads and beads;

  6. a small piece of felt;

  7. glue gun;

  8. brooch holder;

  9. pins.

How to make a kanzashi brooch from fabric: master class

We cut the piece of fabric so that we get five squares of the same size. It would be optimal to cut shreds measuring 5x5 cm.

Take one of the squares and fold it in half to make a triangle. The fold should be on the right. Lightly press the material with your finger, smoothing the line. Fold one of the halves again, creating a smaller triangle.

Bend the second corner back: there are now triangles of fabric on each side. We've got the first petal. Cut off a few millimeters from the open edge and pin it. To secure the patch, you can use bobby pins, patchwork clips, or sew the piece with several stitches. This will make the middle of the flower neater and prevent the triangles from opening up.

We repeat all steps until we get 5 petals.

We assemble the flower by sewing the leaves to each other. First we make them in one line, then we sew the outer flaps. We try to pierce the material with a needle as close as possible to the cut corner. The process itself is a bit like stringing beads on a thread.

Having finished sewing the petals, we turn the workpiece over and sew around the edges of the flower so that it holds its shape. Don't worry if the stitches are not very even, the felt blank will cover them later.

Now you need to straighten the petals. To do this, turn out the fold in the middle of each leaf, pushing the fabric inward. The middle should “fail”, and the edges should remain vertical. We continue to form petals until all 5 are straightened. We have a blank for a kanzashi brooch in the shape of a plum flower. All that remains is to decorate it with beads and make a fastening at the back.

It is not necessary to decorate the center of the flower, but the accessory will look more attractive if you highlight its details. You can sew a bead into the middle or add rhinestones by attaching them with a glue gun.

Turn the brooch over and apply glue to the corners to strengthen them. Then we cut out a pentagon from felt and attach a holder to it.

The product is now ready. You can wear the kanzashi brooch we made with pride, since it was created with your own hands.

Brooch made of satin ribbons: tools for creating

The accessory doesn't have to be so simple. If you add sharp petals, make curls, combine several types of fabric and textures, you will get interesting decoration, which can be worn not only in Everyday life, but also on holiday events. Before you make a kanzashi brooch from ribbons, you need to prepare the material for work.

We will need:

  1. satin ribbon 4 cm wide;

  2. brocade ribbon 4 cm wide;

  3. stamens for flowers;

  4. glue gun;

  5. brooch base;

  6. scissors;

  7. tweezers;

  8. lighter.

The process of making a brooch from ribbons

We cut the ribbon into 4x4 cm shreds. We will make double petals. To do this, fold one square of satin and brocade ribbon diagonally and secure the tip with a lighter. We put the pieces of tape on top of each other, connect them with a lighter on one side and fold them in half. We bend one end and trim the other a little with scissors. We bend the cut corner outward and collect the ends. Once again we cut off the edge and singe it with a lighter so that the petal does not fall apart. Now you need to pull out the tip of the tape from the center. This is easier to do with tweezers.

We cut off the edge, drip a little glue onto the tip of the piece and use tweezers to bend it inside the workpiece. You should get a petal with a curl. We press it down and cut off the back part diagonally, and burn the edge with a lighter. We make 6-7 such parts. Additionally, the same number of simple triangular petals are made. Then we glue a piece of tape onto the base so that the leaves stick better. Let's start assembling the kanzashi brooch. Apply glue to the base and form a flower: first attach the layer with curled petals, add triangular leaves along the edges. We decorate the middle with stamens, collecting them in two pieces, and glue a bead into the center. The kanzashi brooch for a dress or any other suit is ready!

To make jewelry you will need:

  • Several satin ribbons of different lengths, we have this:
    • orange 4 cm wide and 180 cm long;
    • green width 2.5 cm and length 29.5 cm;
  • mesh fabric 11 cm wide and 27 cm long;
  • tulle fabric 11 cm wide and 27 cm long;
  • glue gun, if you don’t have one, don’t worry, you’ll have to carefully sew each petal together;
  • stationery scissors;
  • tweezers, clamp
  • 6 pieces of beads with a diameter of 4 mm,
  • 12 pieces with a diameter of 2 mm,
  • 12 pieces with a diameter of 1 mm;
  • 3 transparent beads;
  • oblong beads - 3 pieces;
  • regular lighter;
  • fishing line, any will do;
  • needle with thread;
  • brooch clasp.

Let's start making with the central flower. From our orange ribbon we cut squares 4 cm by 4 cm. There should be 28 such squares. Take one square and fold it in half, you should get a triangle as in the photo below.

The next step is to bend the edges of the triangle to one of the vertices. You already have a beautiful petal. Pinch the edges with tweezers and cut them so that everything is even. Go over the cut with a lighter. It is better to press the edges with tweezers so as not to burn your fingers.

This is how you need to create all 28 petals. When you finish, do not forget that you need time to warm up the glue gun. We will use it. You can carefully stitch the petal using a needle and thread. Make sure that the thread is the same color as the bud.

Take the first petal and fold the edge inward. Roll it up to make a tube and glue the edge.

Apply a little glue to the bottom of the next petal and attach it to the first. It should look like the photo below.

The third should be placed opposite the second petal. Don't forget that this can be done with thread, but it will be faster with glue.

Place all subsequent petals in a checkerboard pattern, opposite each other. So that they do not overlap each other.

When you collect all the petals you will get lush flower for brooches using the kanzashi technique. After which you can begin making two small buds.

For them we need 18 squares of orange ribbon. As for big roses We begin to fold the petals. Each bud will require 9 squares. Then cut small pieces from the green ribbon and wrap the buds.

The buds are glued to the main rose. We do this on the one hand, you can do it the way you like best. We got this blank for a brooch.

To decorate with petals, cut 7 squares of green ribbon. Folds it in half to form a triangle as in the photo below.

Then fold the triangle again. Grip the triangle tightly with tweezers.

Trim the free ends of the triangle and singe them with a lighter. Then quickly pinch with tweezers so that the edges stick together.

In random order, use glue to glue the petals to the main rose and buds.

Then we proceed to the base of our brooch. Place the tulle on the bottom layer of the mesh on the top and sew the edges.

Connect the edges of the fabrics as shown in the figure below.

From a small piece of tulle, assemble an accordion and sew its edge with thread. You should end up with a small fan, this is our base for the beads.
