How to create a "Star" in the artichoke patchwork technique. Master class on making a ball using the artichoke technique

How to make a fabric ball Photo

Earlier we already wrote about creating a similar one, but then we used foam ball. Today we present to your attention an excellent master class on creating a completely textile ball with your own hands from scratch.

To create a fabric ball using the artichoke technique, you will need:

Base fabric;

Template paper + pencil;

Needle + thread, sewing machine;

Stuffing (synthetic winterizer / cotton wool).

To decorate the fabric ball:

On the lining are two red squares, 8 beige squares measuring 5 * 5 cm, 16 squares of the same size, but of a different color (in this case with green stars), 16 squares of the third color.

Beads for decoration.

Artichoke fabric ball step by step:

1. Creation of a fabric ball - the basis.

Prepare a paper pattern (Figure 1). Transfer to fabric with wrong side(Figure 2). You will need to create 4 petals. Cut out, do not forget to leave a seam allowance (Fig. 3). Sweep the petals together in pairs (Figure 4-5).

Sew on a typewriter on one side (Fig. 6). As a result, you will get "pockets", as in Figure 7. Fold them together front side(Figure 8-9).

Sweep or rock with pins. Then we grind (Fig. 10-11). Leave a hole on one edge of each petal through which the future ball will turn out and stuff (Fig. 12-13).

Stuff the balloon with filler and then sew blind seam(Figure 14-15). As a result, you will get a ball, as in Figure 16.

2. Ball decoration:

Take all the squares for decor (in addition to those for the lining), fold in half and iron (Fig. 18).

Squares intended for lining - place in the middle of the ball, and pin with pins so that they do not fidget (Fig. 19).

Then take the ironed beige squares (rectangles) and fold them into triangles (Figure 20-21).

Place such a triangle in the middle of the future fabric ball, as shown in Figure 22 and pin it with pins.

Pin the 4th triangle and get the workpiece, as in Figure 23. Start sewing the corners of the triangles. Sew the opposite corners of some triangles (Figure 24), and then others (Figure 25).

Sew a bead for beauty at the junction (Fig. 26). Bring the needle out under the triangles, as shown in Figure 27. And carefully sew the triangles along the edge to the base of the ball (Figure 28).

As a result, you will get, as in Figure 29. By analogy, do the same with rectangles with asterisks. First, fold them in the form of triangles, and then put them on the ball and pin them with pins. Arrange the triangles in the proper order (Figure 30-31). Sew similarly to the previous steps (Fig. 32-34).

Overlay triangles of the third color (Figure 35-38).

As a result, you will get such a half of the ball (Fig. 39), by analogy, make the second one.

The artichoke technique is one of the varieties of patchwork. With its original name this species handicraft creativity is obliged to the form of products that are made using this technique - appearance they are very reminiscent of the artichoke plant. In addition, the artichoke technique is often also referred to by other names: rounds, cloves, scales, feathers, corners. Since the essence of the artichoke technique consists of cutting, folding and folding paper or fabric, resulting in three-dimensional objects, it has a lot in common with the origami patchwork technique and 3d technique.

Depending on what material is used in the artichoke technique - fabric or paper, the very technology of creating crafts depends. For work, you will also need a blank, most often a figure in the form of a foam ball is used for this. Small squares or rectangles are cut from paper or fabric, which need to be folded several times. In order to attach the parts to the base, paper blanks are glued, and fabric blanks should be sewn.

You can attach blanks to the foam base in different ways. To create a flatter model, the blanks are directed to the center of the main part, or to its edges. If you want to get a three-dimensional composition as a result, then the blanks should be glued or sewn, pointing the tip towards the narrower part.

The artichoke technique is often used to make Christmas decorations, valentines, easter eggs.

To work in the artichoke technique, you must prepare the following tools and materials: colored paper, pencil, ruler, scissors, glue, double-sided tape, pins without a head and with a decorative head.

The order of work in the artichoke technique.

From paper, cut out a rectangle corresponding to 5 x 2.5 cm, for example. Find the center of the rectangle. Fold the top two corners of the rectangle down towards the center. The pins show how to attach the paper to the base.

If we decorate a ball or Easter Egg, for example, then select the center and tightly glue the triangles with double-sided tape.

Then we attach the next row of triangles. So we continue to the center of the ball. We also decorate the opposite side of the ball. The joints of the triangles in the center of the ball are closed with a strip of paper.

is coming New Year, and it's time to think about how to decorate the interior for the holiday to surprise guests unusual decor. Christmas balls made of ribbons using the "artichoke" technique can be used not only to decorate a Christmas tree, but also as a gift to loved ones. Such crafts do not require special skills and are performed quickly enough. The technique itself resembles origami, but not from paper, but from shreds of fabric. It also has other names associated with the shape of the blanks: “corners”, “feathers”, “scales”. Products made in this way can be both flat and voluminous.

Fundamentals of the artichoke technique

To create a ball using the artichoke technique, you will need a foam blank, to which corners folded in a special way, a lot of tailor's carnations, ribbons of various colors and sequins will be attached. There is also an option to create Christmas decorations in this technique, without using a base. Instead of shreds of fabric, you can take paper, and connect the parts with glue. Toys can be folded not only in the form of balls, but also in the form of cones.

The technology is based on assembly special order triangular pieces cut from pieces of fabric or ribbons. The blanks are attached to the base different ways, but the most common is the option when the tip of each part is directed end-to-end between the teeth of the previous row. When creating a round flat diy corners are directed to the center or out.

Artichoke technique: master class

Before starting work, prepare foam base. To do this, you need to divide the sphere into four equal parts. Then the equator is drawn, which divides the workpiece into two hemispheres. For this you can use regular pen, since the marks in the future will be under the shreds of fabric. The amount of material depends on the diameter of the ball. color scheme you can choose to your taste, but tri-color balls look especially impressive. To decorate the ball using the "artichoke" technique, cotton fabric with a bright print, brocade, silk or satin ribbons. If combined various options, real masterpieces are obtained, depending on the width of the tape or the size of the pieces of fabric. If a tape 5 cm wide is chosen for work, it must be cut into 6 cm segments. You will also need two square shreds.

When working with crumbling fabrics and satin ribbons, the edges of the segments must be singeed over a candle or lighter. It is most convenient to do this by holding the shreds with special tweezers. Then, on the foam blank, you need to mark the poles of the ball with pins or carnations. They must be on the same axis - to check the accuracy, it is best to use a centimeter and measure the distance between the poles. If it is equal to half the diameter of the circle, then the points are chosen correctly.

The beginning of fixing patches

Christmas balls from ribbons begin to be decorated precisely from the poles. In this master class, a foam ball with a diameter of 8 cm will be used as a blank. First, a rectangular patch is fixed on one side of the sphere. The pin is located exactly in the center of a piece of fabric or tape. The edges must be fixed on the marks made earlier: the corners must necessarily match. In a similar way, the second patch must be placed on the opposite side of the workpiece.

The location of the corners on the workpiece

Further work in the "artichoke" technique from ribbons consists in sequentially pinning to foam ball identical teeth, folded in a special way. Each of the 6 cm wide segments is folded in half. A pin or carnation is placed in the center on top. With its help, the flap is fixed on the ball 2-3 mm from the pole. It is important to focus on the marking line and combine the mount with it.

Now the corners of the tape are bent towards the center and fixed at the bottom with studs. The result should be a triangle of fabric. The artichoke technique consists in the successive imposition of such triangles on top of each other. The same corner is fixed on the opposite line, and then on the perpendicular to it. As a result, on the first row there will be four identical triangles of fabric. The edges of each of them should also be fixed with carnations.

Further decoration of the ball

The next row of corners is located on top of the first, with an indent of 1 cm. You can use a ribbon of a different color for it. The top of the triangle from the new row should coincide with the center line of the corner in the previous one. The third row is located differently: between the triangles of the previous rows. From the pole, you also need to retreat about 1 cm. For the fourth row, change the color of the tape again and fasten the corners on top of the third row, retreating 1 cm from the corner. The next two rows are again fixed between the previous ones. If you use a foam ball with a diameter of 8 cm in your work, the sixth row should end exactly in its middle. After that, the same steps are repeated on the opposite side of the workpiece.

Seam line decoration

The artichoke Christmas toy is almost ready. It remains only to decorate the junction and add a loop so that the toy can be used to decorate the Christmas tree. The loop is easiest to make from narrow tape with a glue gun. You can fix it anywhere on the junction line. Then you need to decorate the joint. For this purpose, a decorative braid or tape 1 cm wide is suitable. It can also be fixed on the ball with a glue gun.

Bow for additional decoration

The toy can be considered finished, but to make it look more interesting, it is advisable to place it around the loop fluffy bow from decorative brocade or satin ribbon. It is best to use two types of material of different widths. First from wide tape 5 segments of 15 cm are cut, and from a narrow one - the same number, but 10 cm each. Petals are formed from them and fixed on the ball with a glue gun. In the center of the bow can be placed beautiful bead or any other decorative element, for example, a snowflake or a rhinestone. Now Christmas tree decoration, made in the artichoke technique, is ready. All that remains is to hang it on a tree or pack it beautifully and give it to a loved one.
