SOFT TOY "Squirrel"

SOFT TOY "Squirrel"

A funny soft squirrel can be made with your own hands both from faux fur and from ordinary fabric with a convex pattern. Replacing the material will complicate the stitching process somewhat, since more accurate stitching will be required. But the finished toy will by no means lose its attractiveness.

You will need Faux fur orange, black, white color, a piece of leather, leatherette or dense dark fabric, ready-made eyes or leather and black semicircular buttons of a suitable size, synthetic winterizer or other filler, flexible wire, strong sewing thread to match the fur, fine thread, paper, thin cardboard, a pencil, needle, pins with heads or rings, scissors, chalk or dry thin bar of soap.

Progress

Enlarge the squirrel pattern to right size, transfer to paper life size and cut out patterns from cardboard (Fig. 50).

Cut out squirrel ear tassels from black faux fur. From white faux fur, cut out the belly, underwires and the inner parts of the ears. Cut out all other details from faux fur orange color. Cut out a nose from a piece of leather or dense dark fabric.

Lay out all the cut pieces in pairs. To each of the two parts of the body along the lines A - A1, B - B1, sew the inner parts of the legs with a seam over the edge.

Figure 50. Patterns of a soft toy "Squirrel"

Then, with the same seam, connect the finished halves of the body to each other along the back line C - D and along the lines C1 - A, A - B, B - D. Fixing the stomach with the corresponding lines of the inner parts of the legs in the area A - B, sew in the tummy.

Now you can turn the resulting blank of the torso front side outside and stuff tightly with filler. Fold the details of the legs and tail face inward and sew in pairs with a seam over the edge, turn it right out and stuff it tightly. Sew the finished parts to the body with small stitches of a blind seam so that the front legs are located at a minimum distance from the tummy.

Next, start sewing the head. First, fasten together with a seam over the edge of the forehead along the line G - G1, the back of the head along the line D - D1 and the cheeks along the line E - E1. First you need to sew up the tucks on the cheeks. Then upper edge cheeks to combine with the lower edge of the forehead, chop with pins and sew with a seam over the edge.

Sew the finished halves of the head (front and back) together from the wrong side, leaving a small hole in the lower part. Through this hole, turn the head of the toy with the fur outward and fill it tightly with filler.

Sew the tassels to the details of the ears along the line Z - Z1.

In pairs, sew the blanks together with a seam over the edge, turn it out and fasten the ears on the head with small stitches of a secret seam. Collect the details of the whiskers and the spout on a thread into a ball, fill a little with filler, hem with hidden stitches to the muzzle. In appropriate places, attach the nose and eyes made from pieces of colored leather and buttons. Now you can sew the head to the body - the toy is ready (Fig. 51).

Surely each of us already knows that in stores or supermarkets you can now see a strange vodka called "Squirrel". That vodka, which was mentioned in one of his speeches by the famous writer - satirist Mikhail Zadornov. I will give you a photograph of the same vodka so that you can see what such a squirrel looks like. Below it is the inscription: "I'm here!".

Some elements on the label glow with vodka in the dark:

From her we took the idea for work, but only decided to make it so that it looked harmless. I present to you a photo of the finished one:

This funny toy created against alcoholism and drunkenness.
I give a list of everything that we needed to make a squirrel:
1. Hood from an old leather coat;
2. Scissors, thread, needle;
3. Tweezers, cotton wool, beads, glue;
4. Paper for the image of the model.

Here is the toy model:

Having redrawn the head model on both sides on a separate sheet of paper, cut out:

We divide each model with scissors into three parts, signing the sides of each of them in order to correctly assemble when sewing:

Here are the models of the torso and paws:

Now we take the hood and carefully cut off the fur part sewn on both sides from it:

We take paper samples of the head and pin them to the cut off part of the hood:

Carefully cut them out, leaving areas around the edges for stitching:

We pin samples of the other side of the head:

Having stitched together the samples, we make eyes from beads:

On the upper tips of the ears we will make tassels of fur, but before sewing on the fur, we glue it so that it does not crumble:

Sew the models together from the outside:

Now we are manufacturing occipital part and the back of the squirrel's head, using only one piece of cloth for this:

Here's what the finished head will look like:

In inside our material taken for cutting has a lot of wool. This wool half filled the head of the squirrel, and half the amount of cotton wool was needed.

Having cut a piece of fabric of a suitable size, we form lower part squirrel heads:

Now we take up the manufacture of the body. Having cut the sample into two parts, we cut out the constituent segments of the body from the fabric in turn:

Here are all the tissue segments that make up the torso:

Now we compare the models that match the model to each other and sew them together:

We combine both of these sides into one, we get the torso:

We make paws:

Sew paws to the toy:

We make a sample on a sheet of paper for the underside of the torso, and then pin it to the fabric and cut it out, and then sew it to the toy. We do the same for the front paws.

Sew the finished front paws to the squirrel:

Now we take a small piece of fabric with fur and cut off a small part from it:

We form several fur patches from it and wrap one of them around the neck of the squirrel, and then sew its edges (that is, without sewing to the toy itself):

Now we cut off a piece of fur fabric that fits our toy in size, and take a thick wire. These things are needed to make the tail:

The required wire size is determined by giving the wire suitable size for the tail. We introduce the lower tip inside the toy, bending it down strongly:

The old seam in the fur piece of fabric should be torn open, and a new one made, and then put on the wire, forming a tail:

We remove the excess protruding wire and sew the tail to the almost finished toy:

If desired, the squirrel can be applied on top of the beaded eyes thin layer fluorescent paint (paint based on phosphorescent pigment that accumulates light energy when illuminated). In the dark, these colors give off the accumulated light energy. After processing the eyes, the beads on top can be glued with transparent tape. Let's take up the manufacture of a platform for our toy. On this platform there will be an inscription: "I have come!".
We take three to four cardboard sheets, several sheets of colored paper, glue and scissors:

Cut out from colored paper matching in size with cardboard sheets rectangular shapes for the six sides of the future platform and glue:

These are the sides:

Glue colored paper to the cardboard rectangles.

To make this funny animal, it is best to use artificial fur However, if instead of fur you use ordinary fabric with a convex pattern, the finished toy will not lose its attractiveness at all, the sewing process itself will become a little more complicated, as more accurate seams will be required.

So, from faux fur, open the details of the squirrel, while the tassels of the ears should be black, the belly, whiskers and the inner parts of the ears are white, the rest of the details are orange or colors close to it. In addition, open your nose from a piece of leatherette or dense dark fabric.

Arrange the cut pieces in pairs. Sew the inner parts of the legs along the edges of AA1, BB1 to each of the two parts of the body along the edges, using the seam “over the edge”, with the same seam, connect the finished halves of the body to each other along the back line VG and along the lines B1A, AB, BG sew the stomach (with in this case, in the area AB, the stomach is fastened with the corresponding edges of the inner parts of the legs). Turn the resulting body blank right side up and stuff. Sew the details of the paws and tail in pairs along the inside with a seam “over the edge”, then turn the fur outward and also stuff it tightly. Sew the finished parts blind seam” to the body, while trying to attach the front legs as close to the tummy as possible.

When this work is finished, start making the head. Fasten with each other the details of the forehead (line LJ1), the back of the head (line DD1) and cheeks (line EE1). Sew up the darts on the cheeks. Then align the upper edge of the cheeks with the lower edge of the forehead and fix the connection with a seam “over the edge”. Sew the resulting front and back halves of the head together from the inside out (do not forget to leave a small hole in the lower part), turn the fur outward and stuff it tightly.

Sew tassels to the details of the ears along the ZZ1 line. Connect the blanks in pairs with each other with a seam “over the edge”, turn right side up and fasten on the head with a “secret seam”. After that, sew the head to the body with the same seam.

The toy is almost finished. It remains only to make and fix in the appropriate places the mustaches, nose and eyes. Gather the details of the whiskers and the nose on a thread into a ball, stuff it lightly, and then hem it to the muzzle. Make eyes from pieces of colored leather and black semicircular buttons.
