How to knit a poncho with knitting needles? It's not difficult at all. We present to your attention a master class with step by step photos on making a poncho for a girl with knitting needles. We will knit it in the same way as raglan is knitted, from the neckline. Despite the fact that this poncho has an aran pattern, even a beginner can knit it.

Note: for a children's poncho we choose acrylic yarn. It consists of 2 soft threads - this is important. In the bag, the yarn will consist of 6 threads - thanks to which, the yarn will lie beautifully, and the poncho will be much thicker and more fluffy than just yarn with a thickness of 100 g/203 m.

How to knit a poncho with knitting needles - step-by-step instructions

Sleeves

  1. In the first row of knitting you need to cross the first and last loops - this is shown in the video.
  2. We knit in a circle with an elastic band 1*1 - 6 rows.

Please note: for the sleeves I took stocking needles No. 4 and thread in two layers, and not in three, as for the main knitting.

To knit a poncho with knitting needles, we will need:

150 grams of yarn white(Gjestal Superwash Sport, 50 gr. = 100 m.);
- 200 gr. Yarn "Grass" Pink colour(Gjestal Orkide, 50 gr. = 85 m.);

1. Cast on 128 loops with white thread and knit in a circle with an elastic band 1 by 1 for approximately 12-14 cm of the neckline;

2. Knit all the loops as follows: *2 purl loops, 6 knit loops*. Repeat * 16 times. Knit in the same way 6 circular rows. [=128 loops]

3. In the next row, knit the braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 2 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 knit loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 knit loops, 3 knit loops from an additional knitting needle , 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=160 loops]

4. Knit the next 7 rows, repeating *4 purl loops, 6 knit loops* (repeat * 16 times in each row) [=160 loops]

5. Knit the braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 4 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 knit loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 knit loops, 3 knit loops from an additional knitting needle, 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=192 loops]

6. Knit the next 7 rows, repeating *6 purl loops, 6 knit stitches* (repeat * 16 times each row) [=192 stitches]

Knit the “Bumps” pattern as follows (click on the picture to enlarge):

12. Divide all knitting into 4 parts (front, back, 2 sleeves) of 96 loops each and knit each part separately, continuing to increase until required length.
In order for each part to turn out semicircular, it is necessary to knit in short rows, i.e. In each row, unknit a few loops and start each next row with a yarn over.
You can read more about knitting in short rows.

Note!
1. The length of the product after knitting in short rows should be 3-4 cm less than the required length of the product in finished form, since then it will be necessary to knit several smoothing rows around the entire circumference of the product and crochet the product along the edge.
2. The back must be knitted 3-5 cm longer than the front.

13. After all parts of the poncho are knitted to the desired length, you need to knit a smoothing row, connecting yarn overs and adjacent loops together.
Note!
1. To avoid the formation of holes between the loops in left side back (front or sleeve) yarn overs must be knitted together with subsequent loop, and in right side- together with previous.
2. The smoothing row can tighten the product, so I recommend knitting only each stitch together with the adjacent stitch. second Yarn over

14. Knit another 3-4 rows around the entire circumference of the poncho.

15. Close all loops (you can close the loops with a crochet hook).

16. Crochet the poncho along the edge according to the pattern

Figure 2. Crochet pattern

17. Crochet flowers: close 3 air loops in a ring and knit 12 single crochets. Knit the second row, alternating single crochets and arches of 2 air loops.

18. Sew flowers along the edge of the poncho, decorate the product with beads.

The knitted poncho for the girl is ready!

Advice:

In the place where the front (back) meets the sleeve, sew with inside buttons. This way the poncho will not twist and it will be more convenient for the baby to move and bend over.

Details:

These ponchos are very comfortable and practical. The proposed model is designed for ages 3-4 years. You can make your own calculations and knit such a poncho in the size you need using the attached knitting pattern.

The poncho consists of two parts, front and back, they are knitted the same way. The knitting pattern is very simple and understandable; even a novice needlewoman can do the work. For work, take a hook No. 3.5 and half-woolen threads in two twists. The diagram shows the direction of our knitting.

The beginning of knitting will be a chain of 57 air loops.

In the sixth loop to the left of the hook we knit 5 double crochets (dc).

This element is called a “shell”. We skip two loops of the braid and knit a DC in the third.

To lift the next row, we knit three air loops with a braid. In the “shell” of the bottom row, in its third DC, we knit a new “shell”. Above the DC of the previous row, we correspondingly knit a new DC.

We knit 15 rows like this. We do not knit the 16th row to the end; we do not knit three “shells” and three DCs. Having turned our knitting, we make a new row, the same shortened one. So we knit 7 rows. Half of the poncho is ready.

We knit the second part in exactly the same way, without changes. We sew the poncho along the shoulders, tie the neck with two rows of sc. At the edges of the poncho we attach a fringe, for which we cut threads 15 cm long.

That's all, our elegant openwork, but very warm poncho for the young beauty is ready!

Hello my dear!

While looking through materials from foreign sites to prepare the next article in the “Knitting ideas from around the world” section, I came across this interesting poncho for the baby.

What I especially liked about it is that it is quite easy to knit, even a beginner knitter can master it. And it looks interesting. Maybe that’s why there’s so much of him on the Internet. different options.

I'll try to tell you about universal method how to tie baby poncho knitting needles Universal because this description is suitable for knitting such a poncho of any size. Although this model, in my opinion, is most suitable for a child aged 6 months to 2 years.

So, first you need to choose high-quality soft yarn, preferably bulky. To knit this poncho, the simplest patterns are used - stocking stitch and putanka. With what simpler pattern, the higher quality and smoother the yarn should be so that the product looks neat.

The original is made on knitting needles No. 5. But if you don’t have very thick yarn, you can take smaller knitting needles, for example, No. 3.5 or No. 4.

We knit a sample from the selected yarn , close the loops and subject the sample to wet-heat treatment (either wash and dry, or lightly steam through a damp cloth). This is necessary in order to correctly calculate .

Calculation of the number of loops

Now let’s measure the circumference of the baby’s head if you are going to make a poncho without a fastener. Stretch the knitted sample slightly across the width, as if you were pulling the product over your head - so as not to stretch it too much, but also not to dangle. And in this normally stretched position of the sample, we measure the knitting density horizontally.

Let’s assume that your knitting density in this state is horizontally equal to 12 loops per 10 cm, and the head circumference, for example, is 44 cm. Let’s make a simple calculation: 44 cm x (12 p. : 10 cm) = 52.8 p. C by a small increase, to get closer to an even number, you need to cast on 54 loops. Of course, you will have your own calculation of loops.

Description of work

Main part of the product

After the calculation has been made, we cast on the required number of loops on circular knitting needles and connect them into a circle.

We will knit in the round. This is very convenient, because with this method of knitting, all rows are knitted along front side work. And another thing I like is that you don’t have to sew it together afterwards!

The knitting will be divided into 2 parts: stripes will run through the center of the front and back to expand the product by adding loops.

Again, a simple calculation for our example: 54 p.: 2 = 27 p. goes to one part. We take 6 loops on the central strip: 27 - 6 = 21. Naturally, you substitute your numbers.

  • Note: The number of loops for the central strip can be changed to your liking: you can take 4 loops or 8. It seemed to me that 6 loops is the best option.

Let's start knitting directly. We knit the first row facial loops. We knit the second row using the previously made calculation. Distribute the loops and knit as follows: reverse yarn over, 6 knit stitches in the center stripe, reverse yarn over, 21 knit stitches, reverse yarn over, 6 knit stitches, reverse yarn over, 21 knit stitches. That’s it – we’ve done a breakdown of the number of loops.

Then everything is simple: in the next row we knit the yarn overs with crossed knit stitches (if you did a reverse yarn over, i.e. from yourself, then the knit crossed loop will need to be knitted behind the front wall, like all the knit stitches of the row when circular knitting), we knit all the remaining loops with knit stitches.

  • Note: If you need to know in more detail everything about yarn overs and crossed loops - .

We continue to knit, making additions through the row: in one row we make yarn overs along the edges of the central strip, in the next row we knit them with crossed loops.

So knit to the length you need. Be guided by the length of the child's arm. Just don’t forget that along the bottom you will need to make another piping from several rows of tangles, and also take into account the density of knitting vertically, focusing on your sample.

Along the bottom we knit 5-7 rows with a tangle pattern without adding loops. Alternate: 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch. In the next row - the same thing, only in a checkerboard pattern. After knitting required quantity Rows loosely close all loops.

Hood and gathers

We cast on a number of loops equal to half the number that you cast on at the very beginning (in our example 54: 2 = 27). If you don’t want to, or it’s difficult for you to bother with adding or decreasing stitches for a more complex hood shape, just knit an even rectangle.

The entire hood can be knitted b stockinette stitch, only on the left side for beauty, knit approximately 7-9 stitches .

In this case, it is better to knit the edge loops on the left side not with purl, but with facial loops, in order to get a knot-like edge (for more details, see ).

You can knit the entire hood with a putanka pattern. Or you can leave garter stitch on the left side, make part of the bottom with a tangle stitch, and the middle part with stockinette stitch. Everyone does it according to their own taste and desire.

We knit a rectangle of the required height, fold it in half, face inward, and sew it together. We sew the hood into the neck.

If you wish, you can decorate the poncho to somehow liven it up. Can and attach it to the neck. Decorate the ends of the cord . You can make bright embroidery somewhere on the poncho - it all depends on your imagination and desire.

OK it's all over Now. As you can see, the process of making such a poncho is quite simple.

Dear knitters, I have a big favor to ask of you. If you knit according to this description, it would be very interesting to know what and how you did it, and what changes or “highlights” you made on your own. I compiled the job description based on the site materials www.garnstudio.com just looking at the photo.
