Making a New Year's craft from a light bulb is not that difficult. The procedure is as follows:

1. First of all, take a piece of cotton wool and dip it in alcohol, wipe the glass surface of the lamp to remove dirt and dust and make the surface grease-free.

2. Next step: decoupage the lamp. It is necessary to treat the surface of the entire lamp (including the lower metal part) using acrylic primer. Take a piece of foam rubber attached to a small stick - you will get a kind of “brush” with which you will need to apply a thin layer over the entire surface of the light bulb. Why it is not recommended to use a regular brush: it leaves streaks.

3. When applying primer to glass, hold the lamp by bottom part(base), while processing the base part, you need to have a stand, which, for example, serves well as a lid from a jar of vitamins.

4. After the primer has dried, paint the light bulb with white acrylic paint. The principle of coloring is the same as in the previous two paragraphs.

5. Wait for the acrylic paint to dry completely. This usually takes 30-40 minutes. During this time, you can choose some New Year-themed drawing.

6. Select an image and tear it off the napkin or card (preferably thin paper). Using an ordinary brush and paper glue, attach the picture to the light bulb. Wrinkles that arise during gluing can be easily corrected with sandpaper.

7. If you have chosen a pattern made in a certain color (for example, blue), then the remaining free part of the lamp can be painted in a similar color. It is advisable to use the same acrylic for painting, mixed with the shade you need.

8. Apply a coat of paint as previously described. The New Year's light bulb is ready!

For even greater beauty and decorativeness, you can decorate the base of the light bulb by adding sparkles using multi-colored and silver glitter. The latter can also be used to draw snowflakes on the glass surface of a light bulb.

DIY light bulb snowman

Materials for making: a broken light bulb, glue, white acrylic paint or gouache, a piece of red fabric, thin paper or old newspaper, various elements for decoration: buttons, twigs (to create snowman hands), beads, etc.

Instructions:

1. First stick the paper on the light bulb. If the paper is not white or you chose newspaper, then paint over it with gouache or acrylic paint. Do this directly on the light bulb after sticking the paper.

2. The process of turning a light bulb into a snowman begins. Cut out something like a scarf from red fabric, focusing on the size of the lamp. Make a fringe on the scarf and tie it to the lamp, having previously coated the area for the scarf with glue.

3. Also “knit” a hat from the material. It’s enough just to make a regular mini-cap and tuck the edges. Of course, you will need to attach the cap to the light bulb base.

4. The snowman’s clothes are already ready, all that remains is to make his body parts: place buttons or beads vertically one after another on the snowman’s belly. Use them to make eyes, mouth and nose. The snowman's smile can be drawn with a black or red marker.

5. The last element of the craft: hands. Attach small branches on both sides, securing them with glue. That's it, the snowman is ready and will definitely delight your kids!

Making original New Year's toys from burnt out light bulbs is not at all difficult and very exciting. They can be hung on the Christmas tree or decorated in the interior, or given as a gift. As they say, fashionable, cheap and cheerful.

And such toys also add a touch of warmth, bring joy and, as they believed in the old days, fulfillment of desires. After all, our ancestors decorated Christmas trees with their own hands, and while they were creating the toy, they thought about their desires and how they would like to live in the new year. After they hung them on the tree, the desire was launched into the Universe and began to work.

You can involve children in the process of creating Christmas tree decorations from burnt out light bulbs; they really love such activities. But they must work with light bulbs under the supervision of adults, as they can injure themselves.

Toy options can be very different, for example:

  • Draw a funny face and stick a bow or a hat from an egg carton on top (see video tutorial below)

  • Wrap in paper or cloth

  • Stick on sparkles, beads, rhinestones, sequins and so on

  • Place figures, glitter, and confetti in the light bulb.

  • And the easiest option is to simply paint the light bulb with spray paint and tie it with a bow

  • Or make Christmas decorations from old light bulbs and glitter

To do this, you need to cover the light bulbs with PVA glue and roll the lamp in glitter. Fast, inexpensive and very beautiful. Is it true?

Or combine everything together.

And in order to hang the toy on the Christmas tree, you need to pierce the base and thread a thread there or simply wrap it around the base.

Or you can take a frosted light bulb; you don’t need to paint it.

How to make Christmas tree decorations with your own hands from light bulbs

You need to prepare for production:

  • frosted light bulb
  • Egg cartons
  • Colored paper
  • Adhesive tape for gluing
  • A strong thread
  • Regular marker and gouache for coloring

Everything is done very simply. If you want to make a hat like in the picture, then take an egg carton and cut out a tulip.

Or place paper on tape to wrap around the plinth and leave about an inch on both sides to complete the circle. And the base needs to be wrapped with thread so that the tape sticks to it.

After this, we wrap the base in paper. And glue a bow there.
