Halloween celebration scenario (for children 11 years old)

Apartment decoration

.3 balloons
.white fabric (gauze) for ghost clothing
.fishing line
.black marker
.white threads
inflate balloon, it will serve to simulate a head. Throw chintz over the ball so that the imaginary head is in the center of the canvas. Use a marker to draw a ghost's face on the ball-head. Using a fishing line, secure the ghost to the ceiling by the ends of the robe. Ghosts can be made not only white, but also black. To do this, you should first paint the chintz, and draw the facial features with white paints.

Mini ghosts for the room

.chintz (gauze, paper towels, white napkins)
.black marker
.white threads
.base where the ghosts will be attached (pumpkin, loaf, loaf of bread)
The idea of ghosts in the room will also be supported by table decorations. Little, cute ghosts will also live there. Chupa Chups candies will help you make them. Place chintz or gauze over the candy so that the candy head is located in the center of the robe. Tie a thread around the ghost's neck, straighten the shroud, draw a face for the ghost, stick the baby into the prepared base and thus form several ghosts with different facial expressions. At the end of the holiday, each invitee will receive several mini-ghosts.

Severed head
Necessary:
.plaster bandages
.large plastic bag
.deep dish with water
.scissors
.knife
.marker
.acrylic paints
.palette
.tassel
.if necessary, print out a photo or drawing of a severed head
.large round dish
.candy to fill your head
The model for the severed head was my husband's. We decided to do all the preparations in the bathroom to minimize the mess that would inevitably occur. I first cut the plaster bandage into strips about 10-12 cm long. They put a bag on my husband’s head and cut holes in it near the nostrils. The bag was smoothed along the contour of the face, expelling air and achieving the effect of fitting as tightly as possible to the skin, and the bag was tightly tied in the neck area. Make sure your model is comfortable to breathe and start shaping the head. Dip a strip of plaster bandage into water, wring it out, straighten it and apply it to your head, smoothing it thoroughly. The plaster hardens quite quickly, and the model under the bag is not very comfortable, so you have to work quickly and smoothly. We did everything together with our daughter. The procedure for applying the plaster took no more than 10 minutes, but I had to carefully remove it from my head without damaging the mold. Using a marker, I drew a circle on the top of the head (approximately where the Indians scalped) and drew a vertical line from it down the center of the neck. These are the marks along which the cuts need to be made. It was not possible to slip the scissors in, so, taking a small but sharp knife, I began to carefully make cuts, holding the knife with its sharp (sharpened edge) towards me. This is a necessary precaution, since the cuts have to be made with a very limited scope of the knife, it’s like cutting through plaster, and I was afraid of hurting my husband or cutting off part of his hair. By the way, the bag is cut through along with the plaster. Having made all the incisions, my daughter and I freed dad and immediately applied plaster to the vertical incision at the neck, completely camouflaging it. They did not mask the cut around the circumference, as it was intended top part The head should recline so that children can get candy from there.
After the plaster had completely dried (about a day later), my daughter and I painted a face on our head. However, it should be noted that before applying facial features, the inner and upper surface of the head should be primed so that the plaster does not crumble.

Branches with Halloween symbols
Necessary:
.vase with branches
.trolls
.pumpkins made of yarn
.paper figures halloween characters
.the bats
Place mossy branches collected in the forest in a vase; if possible, tape a wire with mini-bulbs (or a garland) to the branches with tape, then the branches will glow beautifully. Hang trolls, yarn pumpkins, paper figurines of Halloween characters and bats on branches by strings or fishing line.

Maple wreaths
Necessary:
.Maple leaves
.wax or paraffin candles
.thick wire
.threads
.scissors
.glue gun
.glue gun sticks
.pot of water
.aluminum bowl
.baking paper
Prepare small maple leaves various shades. In order for the leaves not to wither and to please us and our children for a long time, we will subject them to wax or paraffin lamination. To do this, boil more water in a saucepan. Once the water boils, reduce the heat and place an aluminum bowl over the pan. Place wax or paraffin candles cut into small pieces into a bowl. While the process of melting wax on the one we created is underway steam bath, cover the work surface with baking paper. This is necessary so that the laminated leaves do not stick to the table and stain it. Dip the leaves one at a time into the melted wax, let the excess wax drip off and place the finished leaves on baking paper. Prepare the number of leaves you need.
Measure the size of the child's head and form a hoop from thick wire (preferably braided to make the head comfortable). Using a thread, secure the leaves to the hoop with an overlap (like fish scales). Remove all blots (places where leaves move away from each other, or where threads are visible) using a glue gun.

Treats

Fruit salad “Jack-O-Lantern”
Necessary:
.4 large oranges (according to the number of guests)
.2 kiwi
.2 bananas
.some seedless grapes
.whipped cream or yogurt
. gummy worms or snakes
Clean out the insides of the oranges and use a sharp knife to cut out faces on them. Finely chop bananas, kiwis, oranges, and grapes. Mix all the ingredients in a large dish, top with whipped cream or yoghurt and fill the salad with the hollow oranges. Insert gummy worms or snakes into the holes.

Halloween Cake
Necessary:
.waffle cakes
. kiwi
.bananas
.vanilla cake cream
.chocolate cake cream
. milk
.boiled condensed milk
.nuts (or banana chips)
.sugar pencils
Beat vanilla and chocolate cake cream with milk in different containers. Coat the first cake layer with chocolate cream and place bananas cut into thin rings on top. Cover with the second cake layer and coat it with vanilla cream, on top of which place a thick layer of kiwi rings. Alternate the cakes in the chosen sequence. The top layer should be chocolate. Use sugar pencils to draw Halloween symbols on the cake. Coat the sides of the cake with boiled condensed milk and cover with banana chips or nuts.
The cake is very easy to prepare and does not take much time. My daughter made it entirely herself.

Competitions

Pinata for Halloween
Do you know what PINATA or PINATA is? This is such a surprise for the holiday. Serves as decoration. Suspended from the ceiling or from a tree branch. At the end of the holiday, the hero of the occasion with eyes closed must find this very PINATA and break it with a special holiday stick. Pinata crumbles to the delight of guests with a rain of confetti, souvenirs and sweets.
There is a version that it started in Italy, and had the name “fragile pot” - pignatta. The Pignatta was filled with jewelry, candy or other trinkets, hung from ropes and swung while a blindfolded player attacked it with a stick. Then, just like today, when the pignatta was broken, guests picked up fallen souvenirs and sweets.
Some claim that PINATA is a Chinese invention and was used during New Year celebrations. Paper figures of cows, buffaloes and other animals with many ribbons various colors and sizes were used during the New Year. After breaking the figures with multi-colored sticks, the remains were burned, and people collected the ashes for good luck in the new year.
PINATA is beautiful decoration holiday for both children and adults. Today's pinatas - have absolutely different shapes and sizes. Pinatas are filled with Spanish tradition confetti, fruits and candies, and can also be filled with toys, souvenirs, and jewelry.
According to the method of breaking, Piñatas can be divided into two types:
Traditional Piñatas are Piñatas that are broken with a stick or bat. These Piñatas are best used for games in open spaces, nature or in large rooms.
Ribbon piñatas, equipped with special ribbons or ropes. When you pull a certain string, the Piñata "opens" and spills out a lot of candy. All other ropes do not reveal anything and add intrigue and additional interest to the game. This Pinata is ideal for games in small spaces. Note that even Piñatas with ribbons can also be broken with a bat!

Necessary:
.inflated balloons (according to the number of guests)
.plaster bandages (2 for each participant). Bandages should be cut in advance into strips about 10 centimeters long and about 4 centimeters wide
.deep plates or dishes (for fixing the balls)
.2 basins with warm water(one for two guys)
.printouts of zombies, mummies, skulls
.paints
.tassels
.sippy cups
.candy for piñata
.chocolate medals
.mini prizes

The Halloween pinata making competition is divided into several stages, so you should think about what the children will do during the pauses necessary for the plaster to dry.

Stage I
Place the inflated ball in a deep plate and secure it so that during further work the ball will remain motionless. Dip a strip of plaster bandage into a bowl of water, squeeze it out, straighten the bandage, and carefully apply it to the surface of the ball. In the same way, cover the entire ball with the exception of a small area necessary to place sweets and prizes. Allow the bandage to dry (about 30 minutes)

While the plaster is drying, I propose to carry out small competition with a light snack.
Competition "Pear Witch"

Stage II
After the plaster frame has dried, the guys need to decide what kind of character they want to get. Depending on this, choose the color of paint and cover the entire surface of the frame with it (white for mummy, zombie and skull, orange for pumpkin). After the background has dried, you should draw the eye sockets, mouth and nose on the character’s face with black paint (for greater clarity and believability of the depiction of the characters’ features, I printed out drawings of mythical heroes for the girls in advance).

Pear Witch

Necessary:
.4 oatmeal cookies
.4 green pear halves
.4 pairs of raisins (for the eyes)
.4 chocolate M&Ms (for the wart)
.4 small knives (participants bring with them)
.Red Apple
.4 waffle cones
.carrots, grated (for hair)
.boiled condensed milk (for gluing parts)
.4 disposable plates
Cut the pears lengthwise in advance and remove the core. Invite the children to place the pear on a plate, cut side down, and carefully, slightly at an angle, cut a piece of the pear along the supposed witch's forehead. This piece will be her nose. In the center of the “face”, make a hole-incision with a knife and insert the “nose” there.
Use a knife to make small holes for the eyes and warts and secure the raisins and M&Ms in them.
Cut a mouth out of a red apple and secure it to the pear by making a hole for it with a knife.
Using boiled condensed milk, glue the waffle cone onto the oatmeal cookies. If empty waffle cones are not available, you can buy ice cream according to the number of participants, first put it out of tubes, and when the witch pear is completely finished, offer the children ice cream as an addition to dessert. Attach the hat - oatmeal cookies to the pear on condensed milk. Place the carrot hair on your head and enjoy the treat! Serve a banana smoothie here.
The competition lasts approximately 15 minutes.

The bats

Necessary:
.4 sets of bats and moon prints (cut out). Visit the Canon papercraft website. There's a lot of material there various holidays. The mobile bats set was taken from there.
.scissors (each invitee should bring with them)
.fishing line (yarn, twine or thread)
.4 old hangers (or wire blanks in the shape of hangers)
.syringes with Titan glue
.sintepon
.paints (each invitee should bring their own). If the guys have glow-in-the-dark paints, they can use them to separately work on the eyes of the bats.
.brushes (each invitee should bring with them)
.sippy jars (each invitee should bring their own)

Before assembling the movable structure, the children will have to paint both halves of the month themselves. To do this, you can use different colors (yellow, ominous purple, reddish, orange). You can also draw a face for the moon (depending on your desire and imagination).
While the paints are drying, you need to glue the front and back parts of the bats together by inserting a thread or fishing line between them. After the paint has dried, we also need to glue both halves of the moon (no thread is needed).
It's time to assemble the structure. Invite the children to lay out a wire structure on the floor and attach the ends of the bat threads to it (the children choose the length of the thread and the place where it is attached to the wire hanger themselves, checking whether the bats are well balanced).
Having torn the padding polyester into small fragments, you can begin gluing it to the hanger, forming a cloud on which the crescent moon is hidden (the guys choose the shape and volume of the cloud themselves).

Apple catching

Necessary:
.basin with water
.12 apples
.2 scarves
.2 large towels
Participants of the competition are divided into teams (2 people each). Pre-washed apples are lowered into the water (there should be more apples than participants, so that the competitors always have a choice). The presenter ties the hands of two contestants from behind with a scarf, ties a wide bath towel to each of their waists, and I recommend that the girls tidy up their hair to save their wonderful hairstyles. The children are invited to use their teeth to remove any apple from a bowl of water. The one of the pair who grabs the apple with his teeth wipes himself, cleans himself up and gives way to the next participant, and his partner remains at the basin until he completes the task. (Unscrew the stems of the apples in advance, otherwise the smart ones will grab them with their teeth). Be prepared for the fact that the bravest will not be afraid to dive into the basin headlong and press the apple to the bottom to prevent it from slipping out when grabbed. This is exactly what my daughter did, and then advised her friends to repeat this maneuver. Everyone tried it! This is definitely the most fun and funny competition this evening! Both participants and spectators received true pleasure and had a good laugh. The winner is the team whose both members completed the task faster. If necessary, the presenter should always have dry towels on hand.
The competition lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Making Halloween Scrapbooking Paper Treat Bags

Necessary:
.4 printouts of handbag samples (Canon papercraft website)
.glue (those invited bring their own)
.ribbons, pieces of fabric, decorative cords, buttons, beads...
.scissors
.previously taken photographs of guests (about 3 for each participant)
The children are offered pre-cut handbag templates (the most complex elements already glued). Following the facilitator's instructions, participants complete their handbags. Everyone is invited to show their imagination and design them in the “Halloween Scrapbooking” style, using their own Halloween-themed photographs and those available decorative elements of various properties(paper, fabric, beads, beads, twigs, yarn). The guys receive handbags as a gift and fill them with candies from the severed head.
The competition lasts approximately 25 minutes.

Search for treasure

Having agreed in advance with the parents of the children about the holiday, I invited them to bring me a gift that they would like to give to their child. The fact is that gifts are an individual matter, and it’s always nice when children receive exactly what they dream of. Having received gifts for each invitee, I began planning a treasure hunting competition. I wanted the actions to find the treasure to be joint, but at the same time with elements individual work, because everyone will be looking for their personal treasure!
On the eve of the holiday I printed 4 different photos(by number of participants). Each photo shows a close-up of the girl's face. On back side photos text with explanations of the location where the treasure is hidden. For example: Look for your treasure behind the blinds. The text is printed in mirror image. My husband and I cut each photo into 12-14 pieces (like puzzles), and counted the total number of pieces (in our case there were 46). For myself, I wrote down where whose treasure would be located, so as not to confuse anything in the turmoil.
After all the main competitions were held and it was time to start searching for the treasure, I asked the girls to play in my daughter’s room for 5 minutes and not leave there. During this time, my husband and I hid 42 pieces (puzzle) in the hall, hallway and corridor. We did not hide 4 puzzles. Calling the guests into the hall, I announced to them that everyone had to find their own treasure, but for this the children would need ingenuity, analysis, intelligence, patience and mutual assistance. (The girls’ eyes sparkled so much that I realized that treasures have no chance of remaining unfound!) I gave each girl one puzzle and said that they had to find 42 more such pieces (outlined a search circle). And she warned that if they did not find all the pieces, they would not be able to guess the message. What started here!!! They looked everywhere and everywhere, there were suggestions to look even in the ground in flower pots!
Having found all the puzzles and counted them repeatedly, the children sat on the floor in the living room and began to look at me questioningly, awaiting further instructions. I said that if they wanted to find the treasure, they would have to figure out everything else themselves. Has begun brainstorm!!! The girls immediately realized that they needed to put the puzzle together and began working as one team, but a little later it turned out that the photographs were different. They realized that they should each collect their own photograph. I’m proud to say that it wasn’t so easy for them to do this! After the photographs were collected, the question arose of how to read the text on the back. Here I quietly put the tape and scissors on the edge of the sofa. Active gluing has begun. (While the children were sitting in one place and gluing, my husband and I placed the gifts in the places indicated in the messages. We deliberately did not do this in advance so that the children would not find the treasure ahead of time).

The photos have been glued together, the text has been read, but its meaning is not clear, because... The back is pure gibberish. The young treasure hunters quickly realized that the letters were printed in a mirror image and ran to read the text in front of the mirror. The secret is out! At this point, my husband and I had to seriously take care of our own safety, because... The girls rushed so hard for the prizes that they almost knocked us off our feet!
The prizes were found, everyone is happy! The competition was a success!!!

3. Decorate the house.

It's worth starting with the fact that the main colors of Halloween are white, bright orange, purple, dark green and, of course, black.

And also colorful autumn leaves, candles in candlesticks, small pumpkins - everything that personifies autumn. You can also decorate windows for Halloween by cutting out funny silhouettes with your child and gluing them onto the glass.

It's very easy to carve a pumpkin using a template. To do this, print out a template for carving a Halloween pumpkin, lightly moisten it with water, attach it to the pumpkin and tape the edges. Make deep piercings along the edge of the entire design, then remove the template and pierce the rest of the way through.

8. Prepare gifts.

You can notify your little guests about the Halloween holiday by mail, sending everyone invitations made together with your child. For example, you can “age” paper in tea and scorch the edges over a candle to give the invitation a more “sinister” look. And in the text indicate that there will be a costume party.

Also prepare small gifts for guests. Something symbolic that will remind you of an interesting children's party for a long time - a keychain in the shape of a spider, gummy worms, etc.

Coming to us from afar, it will introduce you and your children to the festive culture of other countries, and joint preparation for it will give you many pleasant moments of creativity and communication.

Children's Halloween Party: Fun Trouble

How to decorate your house for Halloween? There are many options! And if you consider that all children are initially talented - interesting solutions there will be no end.

Here are a few ideas to consider:

1. Decorate the walls and doors with funny signs and posters, drawn, of course, together with the children. The content of the signs may be as follows: “Door to the fifth dimension”, “Beware of hungry mosquitoes”, “No biting!”, “Don’t scare away the bats”, “Scary room”, etc.

2. Charming ghosts cut out of a sheet of whatman paper will be happy to be placed on the walls and ceilings of your home.

3. Thematic figures – bats, spiders, pumpkins, etc. You can also cut them out of colored paper and hang them around your apartment, or you can decorate the windows with them. By the way, such thematic stickers can be purchased at almost any stationery store.

4. Cut autumn branches will help create a magical holiday atmosphere.

5. A variety of store-bought Halloween figurines (very cute figurines sold in the Red Cube chain of stores) or hand-made, will decorate window sills and bookshelves.

6. Pumpkins! The more of them there are at the holiday, the better. A couple of large pumpkins can be used to make holiday lights with funny faces, and use the rest to decorate the room.

7. It's hard to imagine Halloween without the mysterious flickering of candles. Candles create an amazing atmosphere, but be careful - fire safety measures must be observed at a children's party.

8. Autumn leaves, straw and others natural materials– the best thing you can think of for decorating your home and holiday table.

9. You can easily draw terribly cute tantamaresques depicting all kinds of monsters and ghosts yourself on a sheet of whatman paper, and then cut out holes for the face and hands. The main thing here is not artistic skill, but the love and care that you put into your creations!

10. Decide in advance how much fun your house can handle, and make cute invitations in the form of pumpkins or autumn leaves for all guests.

Children's Halloween party: festive table

“Cheap and cheerful” - a festive table draped with black and orange mesh, which can be purchased at any fabric store, will look very impressive. Make the same one, and secure all the knots and folds with decorative spiders. The table is good for additional decoration natural composition from pumpkins, leaves and candles and other Halloween paraphernalia.

The holiday menu should consist of healthy dishes children's kitchen , decorated and named according to the holiday theme. For example: all kinds of pumpkin dishes - stew served in a hollowed out pumpkin, golden pancakes, pumpkin pie; juices and compotes are predominantly red, but you should always have Alternative option for children who do not want to eat red foods due to allergies; salads decorated in the form of shapeless monsters with eyes made of olives or peas; vegetable and fruit slices in the form of eyes, smiling jaws, etc. – there are no limits to imagination here. Sandwiches, pies, and cookies can also be decorated in the most amazing way.

Children's Halloween Party: Costumes

Any themed holiday involves dressing up, and Halloween is no exception. You can purchase already ready-made suits, or you can make the costume yourself. Anything that in any way resonates with our theme will become suitable option: vampire robe, pirate outfit, witch or ghost costume - all this is spot on.
Take care of the attire for your guests. Of course, they will probably not come empty-handed, but just in case, prepare some elements of costumes for the invited children and adults - just enjoy the walk!

Children's Halloween: games and competitions

1. Test. When opening the Halloween party, arrange a “test” for the kids to test their knowledge of the habits of otherworldly inhabitants:
- to the most terrible howl;
- to the loudest stomp;
- knowledge of traditional scary dance (dance competition for attentiveness when repeating movements).

These “tests” will help to involve children in the festive process and activate their attention.

2. Repeated horror story. Now the guys move single file behind the leader, repeating the words and movements after him:

We are entering a dark forest ( take a few sneaking steps forward),
Where are the trees up to the sky? pull your hands up)!
Let's wander along the path ( a few more steps),
Let's wander into the thicket of the forest ( spread our fingers out to look like tree branches).
We reach the ravine ( sneaking around),
Oh, we'll be afraid ( we're shaking):
There's a roar everywhere, a howl everywhere ( we stomp and make scary sounds) –
It's time for us to run home ( children run in all directions and hide in all directions, and the leader tries to catch them)!

3. Hungry monster. This charming monster with an open mouth must be drawn in advance on a sheet of Whatman paper and glued to a cardboard base. The monster's mouth is cut off, and a stand is glued to the back of this structure so that the cardboard can stand on the floor. You can also use a tall box, on one of the wide sides of which a monster is drawn and its mouth is cut out. The children’s task is to “feed” the monster by throwing tennis or plastic balls into its open mouth. The one who hits the target the most times wins.

4. Crossing the swamp. For this competition, prepare hummocks cut out of paper or leftover linoleum. Children will need to “go through the swamp”, stepping only onto saving hummocks. One participant is given three bumps, after completing a step, he must move one bump forward and take the next step, etc. The game is a relay race. The fastest participant (or team) wins.

5. “Take care of your eyes!” Another relay game. We will need a tablespoon and a tennis ball painted to look like an eyeball. Participants need to quickly and very carefully bring the “eye” in the spoon to its destination. The team that can complete the task faster and more accurately wins.

6. Dinner for a witch. Under the guidance of the leader, children will need to find dinner ingredients scattered and hung around the room in advance: rubber snakes, lizards, various insects, bats and spiders. The presenter reads the recipe, for example: for a roast we will need 15 bats, 2 cockroaches, 10 caterpillars, etc., and the guys look around the room for ingredients in the right amount. A small snack after such a competition suggests itself!

7. Path of Terror. While the children are busy in the hall, quietly place several cardboard boxes with different fillings that are unpleasant to the touch: wet moss, crumpled newspaper, rustling bags, a damp rag, a heating pad with warm water. When everything is ready, invite the children to walk along this scary path one by one. The main condition: the participants’ eyes must be closed and they must walk barefoot.

8. Vampires. Before the competition begins, tell the legend that we have entered the domain of a vampire lord and are obliged to follow the rules of the vampires' daily routine. Together with the guys, we remember what time of day they sleep and what time they are awake. We choose a “victim” and place it near the window. And the “vampires” - all the other children - are located on the opposite side of the room in their “crypt”. The children’s task is to move only when the leader announces the onset of night, and freezing in place at the word “day,” to try to catch the victim as quickly as possible. Whoever catches it wins.

9. Little artists. Children are given air balloons orange color and black permanent (others may smudge) markers. You need to draw a Halloween monster on the ball. The funniest grimace wins.

10. Night rest. Do you remember the indescribable delight and horror that various scary stories caused you in childhood? Light a candle, sit the children around it and announce a scary story competition. The candle is carefully passed from one participant to another, and the one near whom the candle stops must tell his “horror story.” The main thing here is not to overdo it and creepy stories end on an optimistic note, bringing smiles and laughter. Believe me, the amazing atmosphere, fascinating stories and the opportunity to dream a little will bring a lot of pleasure to both storytellers and listeners.

Don't forget about the festive disco with cheerful dance competitions: with balls sandwiched between bellies – for the friendliest couple, with a mop in his hands - for the most cheerful and active witch, with repetition of movements - for care and precision and etc.

And finish the competition part at a festively set table, “planting” a pre-cleaned pumpkin with all sorts of sweets suitable for the theme in the center of the table - licorice candies in the shape of worms, “scary” chewing marmalade and figured cookies.

Approaching Halloween holiday, All Saints' Eve. This day is widely celebrated in the United States by both adults and children. Little kids go from house to house in costume, begging for sweets, and adults, dressed up according to their imagination, throw parties. Do you want to introduce your child to American culture? Or do you simply want to use this holiday to get your child even more interested in the English language? Let's see how then Halloween you can celebrate in Russia.

One of the most important entertainments for children on this day is “Trick or treat”. This is a custom in which children knock on doors during Halloween and demand treats. If the treat is not received, then the baby can play a trick on the owner of the house. Of course, in our case it would hardly be a good idea to go with the children to apartments in our own high-rise building. But if you have good neighbors or friends living nearby, you can ask them to play along with you and your child.

Fortunately, there are more safe ways to celebrate this holiday with joy. It will be ideal if you and your child wear holiday costumes. Even just some masks or caps would be perfect. Or the child himself can do something simple a couple of days before the holiday.

You can start the celebration by carving a lantern from a pumpkin. Let your child draw the desired face on the pumpkin and you carefully cut out the design with a knife. There are many master classes on the Internet on how exactly this should be done. But please note that first you need to take out the middle of the pumpkin and then start creating. Remember that we are making a lantern. So we will have to put a candle in the pumpkin itself later. While cutting, tell your child the story of the holiday and try to learn a few new words that are associated with this day.

History of Halloween

This holiday comes from the traditions of the ancient Celts in Ireland and Scotland. They say that this holiday is at least two thousand years old. It is believed that the name itself comes from English phrase All-Hallows-Even (even is short for evening), that is, “Evening of All Saints.” Historian Nicholas Rogers suggests that the holiday of Halloween originated from the Celtic pagan holiday– Saiman (Samhain), which means “end of summer.” The tradition of going from house to house and begging for sweets dates back to the Middle Ages. But before it was directly connected with Christmas. On the eve of All Saints' Day, only the poor begged for sweets, promising to pray for the souls of the owner's deceased relatives.

New words

Pumpkin - pumpkin
To carve - cut out
Jack-o"-lantern - Jack's lantern. This is the same pumpkin with a candle that we so carefully carve
Witch - witch
Bat - bat
Zombie - zombie
Mummy - mummy
Haunted house - haunted house
Owl - owl
Spider - spider
Ghost - ghost
Werewolf - werewolf
Skeleton - skeleton

Songs and cartoons about Halloween

To reinforce new words, we suggest you watch cartoons in English and listen to songs about Halloween. Of course, there are tons of videos on the Internet on this topic. But try to choose something not too scary.
It's better to start watching a video with something simple. For example, this simple song will help your child “tune his ears” to English speech.

By the way, be sure to watch this video. This song from the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is believed to be one of the Halloween anthems.

Youtube is filled with various cartoons on this topic. If the child is not very old yet, then try watching something from Disney. Many children's favorites "starred" in cartoons about Halloween.

Children who are more “advanced” in English can watch cartoons where the characters speak a lot more. For example, this might work:

Scary stories in English

If the child already speaks fluent English language, try to come up with it together scary story. If some words are not familiar, you can look in the dictionary or ask mom or dad for advice.

For those children who like to write stories, we suggest “figuring out” how the ending will end, for example, this story:

I went trick-or-treating with my best friends _______, _______, and _______. Our bags were full of candy, and it was getting late, so my friends wanted to go home. I wanted more candies so I said, “Let’s knock on a few more doors and then we go home.” They were worried because they thought it was already too late. I told them not to worry.
In 10 minutes, it started to rain. We noticed an old house nearby and decided there. We went inside, sat down, and started to eat our chocolates, when . . .

WITH younger children You can also develop your imagination. Try to draw the scariest monster. The child himself decides how many legs, eyes, heads, and so on he will have. And at the same time, it will reinforce vocabulary on the topic “Parts of the Body.”

We hope that the material presented in this article will help you have an interesting Halloween with your child. Remember that such immersion in a foreign culture will have a positive effect on the child’s motivation, and he will be more willing to devote time to English.

Halloween scenario: a fun program for children on Halloween 4.12 /5 | Voted: 17

On the night of October 31 to November 1 in the USA and Europe, and in last years In the CIS countries, Halloween is celebrated - All Saints Day. The Holidays Workshop has prepared a Halloween scenario that is suitable for children from 7 to 14 years old and a selection of entertainment for younger children. If you decide to try on a mystical image and have a fun Halloween, this article is for you!

This Halloween scenario does not require long and complicated preparation, and the holiday will turn out just wonderful! The hosts of the event are the Witch and the Drummer (artistic adults dress up as them). If desired, you can choose other characters. All invitees should be warned in advance to come up with images of all kinds of evil spirits: ghosts, witches, sorcerers, mummies, zombies. For greater effectiveness, you can invite a face painter to the event - he will help guests transform into the desired characters.

Themed souvenirs (eyes on springs, keychains in the shape of pumpkins, cats, witches) or sweets can be used as prizes for competition participants.

The holiday begins with a speech by the witch presenter.

Witch:

Hello! Welcome to the holiday of horrors! I see everyone has already gathered devilry... after all, today is our day - the terrible and solemn Day of All Saints. It is on the night from October 31 to November 1 that the souls of the dead come from the other world.

Drummer (in a mysterious tone): Finally! This is going to be a night! Scary stories about coffins, creepy dances in the company of ghosts and simply terrible entertainment! You are ready? Then let's start our coven!

Game “I am the most terrible and terrible”

The purpose of the entertainment is to introduce everyone present, to liberate and create a friendly atmosphere.

Guests stand or sit around the host. The presenter takes a small pumpkin (you can soft toy) and begins the game with the words “I am the most terrible and terrible witch who...”. Then she tells what she does, for example, takes sweets from children or eats spiders for breakfast and why she chose this image. Then the presenter passes it to the first participant, who talks about himself and so on in a circle until everyone has introduced themselves.

Drum:

Everyone knows that the symbol of Halloween is a glowing pumpkin. But do you know, my dear monsters, where this attribute came from?

The Legend of the Glowing Pumpkin

A long time ago, a swindler and drunkard, Jack, invited the devil himself to his Halloween celebration. After the gathering, the man bet with the guest that he would not climb the tree. The devil quickly climbed to the top, but cunning Jack drew a cross on the tree and the devil could not come down. The man then offered to remove the cross in exchange for never tempting him again.

After his death, Jack was not allowed into heaven because he was a sinner, but the devil did not allow him to go to hell, giving him only a hot corner. Jack hid the coal in an onion and has since appeared with it on All Hallows' Eve. Later in the USA, the onion was replaced with a pumpkin, and since then the glowing orange vegetable with an ominous smile has been a symbol of the Halloween holiday.

Competition "Symbol of the Holiday"

The presenters invite the children to make the main attribute of the holiday themselves. Each participant is given a small pumpkin and a black marker (if children under 10 years old) or a knife (if older children).

The task is to draw or cut out a scary face in the allotted time (for example, 15 minutes). Then the presenters determine “The most terrible Halloween symbol”, “The most original Halloween symbol”, etc. Children will be able to take their creations home after the holiday.

Witch:

Oh, how many times I had to celebrate All Saints' Day... I can't even count. But I remember one thing well - funny game I always had it with donuts!

Game "Sweet Tooth"

This entertainment is traditionally present in the Halloween scenario. For the competition you will need donuts (can be replaced with soft bagels) and two ropes or threads. Two donuts are hung on threads at the height of the participants. Then a couple is selected who want to take part in the competition.

The players' task is to eat the treat without using their hands. The one who can do it faster wins and receives a prize from the presenters.

Drum:

My old friend Count Dracula handed over refreshments for our holiday.

Competition “Feel like Dracula”

The hosts offer the bravest guests of the holiday a taste of the “blood of the old magician” (tomato or cherry juice). Everyone receives a glass with a drink and a straw. At the leader’s signal, the participants begin to drink. The first one to empty the glass wins.

Witch:

My friends, monsters, witches and ghosts. Yesterday I received a letter from my nephew, Kasper. Him big problems with horror homework. Little Casper needs to learn how to appear in public so that everyone's knees shake. And we can’t do it without your help.

Game “What a horror!”

Each contestant takes turns making a "scary and terrifying" appearance in public. For this you can use white fabric or a sheet. The winner is chosen by voting or applause.

Drum:

Oh, Witch, how scary our guests are! But this is not enough, because evil spirits often have to get out of the most unexpected situations.

Fun "Magic Pumpkin"

You need to make a container out of a large one in advance, clearing out all the contents and washing it thoroughly. You should also prepare tasks for the participants - write on pieces of paper (the edges can be burned for effect) what they should do, for example:

  • Tell a scary story;
  • Remember 5 proverbs or sayings that mention mystical creatures (“the devil is not as terrible as he is painted,” “the devil is in the middle of nowhere,” “sell your soul to the devil,” etc.);
  • Dance Baba Yaga's dance with a broom;
  • Name 13 mystical characters;
  • Name 10 ingredients of a magic potion, etc.

Participants take turns pulling out a note with a task from the pumpkin and completing it. After the competition is completed, everyone receives sweets.

Witch:

Although we are called not very kind, we love to have fun and dance. We invite everyone to the disco!

After the dances, the hosts offer the children festive treats. You can organize a candy bar where guests can enjoy themselves at any time during the event. More details on how to design in an original way sweet table for Halloween, read
