The finished box can be decorated with rhinestones, voluminous bow or ribbon, depending on your desire and preferences. Well, let’s not delay, let’s start recreating it.

How to make an origami box.

To work you will need:

  • Scissors;
  • Ribbon;
  • Ruler and pencil.

An origami paper box can serve not only gift packaging, you can put some of your household little things in it.

Stages of creation.

1. Take one of the square sheets of paper, and using a ruler and pencil, draw lines from corner to corner (see photo step No. 1).

2. Fold the lower left corner to the center.

3. Then we bend the same part again towards the center.

4. Straighten the workpiece.

5. We proceed according to this scheme with all the corners of the future box, i.e. We bend each corner twice to the center and straighten it.

7. We bend the free two side parts to the center (right and left).

8. At the level of the bottom, we create folds that form the walls of the box.

9. We bend the upper and lower walls inward.

10. Place the left side part and the right side on top of them.

We proceed similarly to the method described above with the second sheet of paper. Then we connect the two boxes together, and as a result of such elementary manipulations we get a magnificent box.

We put the prepared gift inside and tie a ribbon, tying a bow or a knot with protruding ends on top. And don’t forget about showing your individuality, because you can put in rhinestones the name of the person for whom this surprise is intended or pin a note with warm wishes. Box with a ribbon tied.

Paper boxes are a great way to decorate gifts with your own hands, create original packaging for storing household items, as well as a wonderful opportunity to bring creative impulses to life.

A big plus is that you can start training on plain paper or unnecessary thick cardboard, and then proceed to execution beautiful boxes from special paper.

To gift box with your own hands it turned out neat and pretty; when doing it, it wouldn’t hurt to take the advice of professionals and follow the step-by-step instructions with photographs and diagrams that can be found in our material.

Method No. 1: Square origami box

Beautiful and easy to make - this is how the first homemade box should be. This is exactly how it will turn out if you do it according to these simple instructions. IN in this case origami style is used.

  1. Colored or wrapping paper for gifts;
  2. Scissors;
  3. Ruler;
  4. Pencil;
  5. Decorations optional - satin, velvet or lace ribbon, 3D applique, flower bud.

How to make a box:

To make gift wrapping easy, it will come in handy step-by-step instruction with photo. In order to do a beautiful box, you need to take care to create the lid and the main part in the same style. The top can be presentable, bright or playful. The bottom can be made from plain paper of a suitable color.

  • You should start by creating a lid for the box. You will need paper for this square shape. The sizes can be anything - depending on the author’s idea. In this case, the square will be 21.5x21.5 cm. You need to draw a square of paper diagonally to make a cross, as in the photo below.
  • The bottom corner must be bent so that it lies at the central point of intersection of the drawn lines. You can navigate by the photo. Then you need to bend the resulting fold again, but this time so that its edge exactly coincides with the drawn strip. The folds must be smoothed out well so that they are imprinted on the paper. You can use the body of a pencil. After this, we bend the square back, keeping on the paper the folds necessary for further work.

  • We repeat these steps for the three remaining corners, resulting in a finished square with a grid of folds we need. After this, we cut two side parts on both sides, which now look like houses.

  • We do the next step according to the photographs: we fold the lid of the future box.

  • After this, you can begin to make the base of the box. To create it, you will need a square of paper 3 mm smaller than the previous one. In our case - 21.2x21.2 cm. The bottom is folded in the same way as the lid. The result is a beautiful box that can be decorated with ribbon, applique, or flower.
  • The inner ends can be glued with inside double tape.

We learned how to make a box out of paper, but there are also more reliable materials for such an important product as gift wrapping.

For clarity, you can watch a video where the box is also made in origami style:

Method No. 2: Rectangular box made of thick paper

Plain paper is good, but a gift box made from this will not always be a good idea if its purpose is to keep a heavier gift intact. For the next craft, you will need thick paper - that is, cardboard.

To make the box you will need:

  1. Cardboard;
  2. Double-sided tape/glue;
  3. Scissors;
  4. Pencil;
  5. Ruler;
  6. Decorative decorations.

How to make a box:

  • First you need to print and cut out the template. If this is not possible, you can redraw it on your thick paper, taking into account the required dimensions. The main thing is to maintain proportions.

Sample:

  • Having cut out the future box from cardboard, you need to bend all the ends in the places marked with a dotted line. Since the paper is thick, you can help draw the fold lines with an object with a sharp end (pencil, nail file, screwdriver).
  • Now that the silhouette gift box has already appeared, you need to stick double-sided tape or apply glue to the places where the edges of the paper should meet - that is, on the sides, as in the photo. Then all that remains is to fold the cardboard into a finished box and, if desired, decorate the product with stamps, appliqués, ribbons, and inscriptions.

Method No. 3: Triangular cake box

Not only simple square and rectangular boxes can be made from paper and cardboard, but also gift and packaging products are very original forms. Step-by-step photographs will help you understand the manufacturing process faster.

As in the previous case, making this box will make the job much easier ready-made template. The edges of the lid can be wavy, which is associated with cream, or straight. You can choose the colors of the paper at your discretion, the main thing is that everything looks harmonious together. The dimensions of the future box can be anything, the main thing is that the bottom template is 3 mm smaller than the lid template.

To make the box you will need:

  1. Cardboard or thick paper;
  2. Glue;
  3. Scissors;
  4. Pencil;
  5. Ruler;
  6. Decorative decorations - optional.

How to make a box:

Advice: For the first time, you should try to make this box from plain paper to understand the manufacturing principle, and only then proceed to the original on more expensive paper.

Templates:

Box lid template with straight edges. Box lid template with wavy edges. Template for the base of the “cake” box.

Important: Be sure to check the template sizes, these examples may not fit each other in size. The dimensions of the base template should be slightly smaller than the dimensions of the lid template.

  • We draw a template for the lid and the base of the box on two separate sheets. Cut out blanks from paper.
    If this is the final version of the product and you want to work with cardboard, then paper templates you need to attach it to the cardboard and outline the edges, mark the dotted lines of the folds, and then cut out the components of the box.

  • Then you need to make even folds on the cardboard in the dotted areas. You can help yourself with a ruler and a pointed object.

- What is a holiday? - they ask you one day.
And you immediately answer with a smile:
- This is when everyone is happy, they say nice wishes, give gifts…
And in response to you:
- So, if you give someone a gift today and wish them something wonderful, it will be a holiday?
And it’s true... And you can even give a handful of sweets. The main thing is how to do it. Perhaps we should start with unusual packaging. DIY paper box - great idea For original gift or a surprise.
Even clean symbolic gift will be admirable if you present it in its own packaging.

Materials and tools

So, what may be needed when making all kinds of boxes.

  • Paper.
    It is best to take paper for scrapbooking - it is good because it can be double-sided, with a different design on each side. Thick one is also suitable designer paper, colored paper for pastels, cardboard (density 200-300 g/m2), a simple sheet of whatman paper or watercolor paper, which you can paint or tint yourself.
    You can also use “yellow” note paper (or an envelope made from it), wrapping paper... and any other that you can use for decoration.
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Napkins (preferably thicker)
  • Ribbons, ribbons, laces
  • Beads, buttons
  • Ready-made labels
  • Scissors, stationery knife
  • Double-sided tape, glue stick
  • Superglue or universal glue “Moment” ( clear gel) for securing beads and other things
  • Ruler, pencil
  • Compass
  • Hole puncher
  • Nail file (for creasing)

Useful advice. Before you take on the paper that will make up your box, try assembling it from plain paper. You will understand where to cut, how to make folds more conveniently, how to assemble the box. Plus, you can estimate what size box you need. Often the first pancake is lumpy - so let this lumpy be made of simple cheap paper.
Decor. As for the elements for decoration, you don’t have to limit yourself here: make flowers from fabric and paper, combine ribbons and raffia, lace, whatever you can think of. The main rule is not to overdo it.
And now about the boxes themselves. There are a huge number of options, models and schemes for their manufacture. We offer you the most popular ones - from classic round and square boxes at the base to unusual bonbonnieres. But first things first.

Square box

You can give anything in it. From candies and cookies to soap self made and decorations. Naturally, each gift must have an appropriate box decor.
In this case, the packaging is stylized as a postal parcel. This gives it a special romanticism, because the services of traditional mail for sending letters and gifts are used less and less today.
If you use colored paper with a picture - the box will have a completely different mood. Choose yours!

You can create such a beautiful paper box in just a few minutes

This is one of possible options manufacturing square box. It will be made from a single sheet, without a separate lid. Let's begin.

Redraw the diagram of the box onto paper. We think about it in advance right size. Cut it out.

Carefully bend the workpiece along dotted lines, which are drawn in the diagram.
If the paper is thick enough, you can crease it first to make bending easier. To do this, attach a ruler to the fold lines and run a nail file (the tip of a compass, the tip of scissors) along them. There should be a groove - a depression along the line. Now all the folds will be clear.

We glue strips of double-sided tape as shown in the figure. Instead of tape, you can use a glue stick, but tape is still more reliable and more convenient.

We decorate the walls of the box from the outside while the box itself is still disassembled. And then we glue it together. All that’s left is to insert the gift and bandage the packaging!

With round base

The box of this model is more suitable for gifts for women. Although everything again depends on the gift and decor. In it you can present both beads and a tie (if you twist it like a snail), as well as a scented candle, New Year's ball or even a cupcake!
Such a DIY paper box can later serve as an excellent box for small items (buttons, beads, etc.).

So let's get started.

Select the desired radius of the circle at the base. Using a compass, draw 4 such circles on thick paper and 2 on corrugated cardboard.
We measure out 3 strips on paper. Their length will be equal to the circumference of our circles (yes, we’ll have to remember our favorite formula 2πR). The widest strip will be the height of the box, another will be 1 cm narrower, and the third strip will be the narrowest - for the height of the future lid.
It’s difficult - only while you’re reading this, you should start doing it - and everything will become simple and understandable!

Glue the circles from corrugated cardboard paper We have the bottom and base of the lid.

Glue the first and second strips together as shown in the figure (the vertical shift is approximately the thickness of the bottom of the box, the horizontal shift is 1 cm). Front side paper should be facing out. We decorate the future wall of the box.

We cover the bottom of the box with a double strip of paper in a circle. Then we paste the remaining narrowest strip around the base of the lid.
The box is ready! We place the gift inside and close it with a decorated lid.
You don’t have to decorate the lid separately, but tie the entire box with ribbon. For example, like this:

Elegant boxes and not a drop of glue!

Is it possible to make a paper box with your own hands quickly and without any glue? Voila! There are more examples of such packaging than you can imagine.
Everything is made from one sheet of paper. The main thing is to carefully cut the workpiece and bend it correctly. At first glance, the diagrams of some boxes are complicated, but in reality everything is much simpler. Each subsequent box will become easier to assemble. We recommend that you practice on plain paper first!
When working with thick paper, creasing will again be of great help. Let's try!

1. Strict box – male version.

Although if you make it larger, from paper with a delicate print and decorate it with a flower, it will be just right for giving women’s lingerie.

Ideal for sweets and anything fluffy and airy.
In order to thread a ribbon or lace, make holes in the workpiece in advance with a hole punch.

Suitable, for example, for loose aromatic tea. Or for some bottles, candlesticks.

It looks very laconic, perfect for a men's gift.

And with brighter decor, it would be a good option for a gift for a woman.

Here is the same case, but a slightly different configuration. This option can be opened and closed thanks to a unique clasp.

Cute bonbonnieres

Bonbonnieres are a special type of boxes. Bonbon in French means candy, and the name of the boxes comes from the word “candy bowl”. It is the bonbonnieres with candies or sweet dragees that the newlyweds give to their guests at the wedding - in response to congratulations.
Ordering a bonbonniere to be made for each guest is not a cheap pleasure. But it won’t be difficult for the bride and her bridesmaids to make bonbonnieres in the style and tone of the wedding.

1. One of the simplest options

2. Elegant.

They resemble a box or a small chest.
Just a little more difficult than the first ones. We make slits in them with a stationery knife, holes, if we want to pull in a ribbon or lace, with a hole punch.

3. Unusual and tasty.

As a rule, bonbonnieres are located on a special separate table and often on a dish or tray. You can beautifully play with this situation and make bonbonnieres in the form of pieces of cake. And you need to place them together, as if it were a paper cake.

First, we draw a large circle (the plane of the cake) and divide it into sectors in order to know the parameters of our pieces.
Then, according to the dimensions, we draw a diagram of the development of the piece. Let's do required quantity scans, cut them out and glue them together. You can decorate before gluing, or after - it all depends on the idea of your decor.

The origami technique is famous for its excellent originality in simple things. What is this? Yes, take even the most ordinary boxes, which will take about 10-15 minutes to make. Fast, uncomplicated, original, interesting, practical - this is not even half of their advantages. But first things first. Who can use a DIY origami paper box and why? Yes, almost everyone, because the functionality of such a seemingly simple thing is not limited to putting all sorts of unnecessary rubbish into it. let's consider various ways creation and use of such a product.

The simplest way

To make such a box you will need paper, the format of which varies from A4 to A1, a little time and perseverance.

The sheet must be visually divided into 3 even parts and bent, leaving visible folds.

The side parts, right and left, need to be bent in half.

The resulting part is straightened symmetrically relative to the center.

The resulting pocket expands, forming a cube shape with empty space inside.

To add rigidity, bends are made in all corners.

Ready! Now you can decorate the craft using appliqués or paint it with paints. Using an A4 sheet, you can easily create a convenient product that will fit keys or other everyday items. Using a sheet of paper, you can easily create a place to permanently store such things.

Working according to Jeremy Shafer's scheme

Sufficient necessary thing, especially for those who are tired of untangling their headphones every time. Moreover, to create such a cool thing you will only need a sheet of 20x20 cm and about half an hour free time. detailed instructions described and shown on video.

Product with lid

This modification of the simplest product was invented by the origami master Tadashi Mori. In fact, a chest, the lid of which is decorated with a cute heart, is perfect for presenting a small present to your soulmate.

Features of the product is the fact that the size finished crafts is a quarter of the side of the sheet of paper used. This greatly simplifies any calculations.

If the craftsman has deliberately thought about what item will be stored in the box he is creating, then he can easily determine the required sheet size. In addition, creating such a thing will take no more than 20 minutes of your time.

Toolbox

Enough interesting idea brought to life by origami master Hans-Werner Guth, who assembled a box from paper that looks like a toolbox. Of course, one can argue about the functionality of this product, because the material used is fragile enough to pack, for example, a hammer, but it is quite suitable for storing nails or screws.

To create such a box you will need thick paper measuring, for example, 15 x 15 cm and about 20 minutes of free time. Since the author did not provide an assembly diagram and a master class, to assemble this model, you will have to think a little about the pattern.

In addition to those presented in the article, there are many more variations in the design and practical applications of paper boxes made using the origami technique. In addition, each product can be originally decorated, taking into account the holiday in honor of which the gift will be presented, the interior of the room where the gift will be located, decorating a shelf or other base. Considering the ease of creating any of the listed products, these patterns can be considered training and provided to beginners as practice in creating various forms in origami style.

Pyramids

Agree, it’s always nice to receive unexpected gifts. And when they are beautifully packaged - doubly so. The pyramid will become great solution for packing a small gift. Such pyramids can be either triangular or quadrangular.

To create a 3-gonal pyramid you will need the following blanks:

  • 3 square sheets measuring 12.7 x 12.7 cm;
  • 6 square sheets measuring 6.3 x 6.3 cm.

For a 4-corner box you will need:

  • 5 squares measuring 12.7 x 12.7 cm;
  • 8 squares measuring 6.3 x 6.3 cm.

Assembly of such a craft does not require large quantity time and effort. To create it, you don’t even need a diagram, because the whole process shown in the video lesson is so simple that even a child can figure it out. Despite this, such a pyramid with a surprise inside will cause a lot of delight and joy.

Video on the topic of the article

Boxes help us organize the storage of many things: cosmetics, office supplies, cables, and so on. Of course you can use ready packaging from products or equipment, and then decorate it. But we suggest you learn how to make an origami box. It can not only serve as an organizer, but also as gift wrapping.

Origami paper box

Everyone knows that you can fold origami from almost any paper. In the case of a craft like a box, this rule does not apply a little. Why:

  • In the process of creating a box, the paper must be folded repeatedly and then unfolded, so paper that is too thick is not suitable.
  • The box is not just a craft. It will be used as an organizer or for gift wrapping. Therefore, too thin sheets are of no use here.

What happens? It is best to choose from 70 to 120 gsm. m. As for the type, you can fold ordinary colored sheets, special packaging sheets or for scrapbooking. The main thing is to have the right density.

Simple boxes

Take a square or rectangular piece of paper, depending on the type of origami box you need. Fold it in half twice (illustrations 1 and 2). Unfold the sheet once so that the fold line is in front of you, and fold the left and right corners towards the middle (picture 3).

Then bottom part fold in half twice to form an accordion (illustration 4). Turn the figure over (picture 5). Fold the right one and left side shapes to the fold line in the center (Figure 6). Now you need to fold the lower part of the part into an accordion twice (picture 7). Make folds in those parts of the figure that are shown in illustrations 8, 9 and 10.

Now all you have to do is unfold the part, tucking the top corner, as in picture 11. Such a box will be strong enough, even if you use ordinary paper to create it.

Packing box

Take beautiful leaf square shaped paper. When choosing, consider the size of what you plan to put there. That is, the larger the gift, the larger the sheet needed.

So, make two fold lines to form a cross. That is, fold the paper into a triangle shape, unfold it and fold it again, only connecting the other two corners. Now make an accordion by folding the leaf three times. Straighten the paper. Repeat the accordion fold, only now on the other side so that the new folds are perpendicular to the previous ones.

The packaging is ready. All that remains is to fold it. To do this, wrap the four vertices, as in the picture above, and begin to assemble the figure along the fold lines. Everything should just work out for you, without any effort.

In order for the origami box to be a full-fledged gift wrapping, you need to make holes at the edges and thread a ribbon.

Lockable boxes

This origami box with a lid is made as follows:

  1. Take a square piece of paper and fold it in half twice to form a cross from the fold lines (Illustration 1).
  2. Then straighten the leaf and curl each vertex towards the center (Illustration 2).
  3. Now fold the figure in half, bending one part back (illustration 3).
  4. Roll up right side to the left, as shown in Figure 4.
  5. Now you just need to fold the figure by pressing on the pocket (illustration 5).
  6. Turn the part over (Illustration 6).
  7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 on this side (Illustration 7).
  8. Open the pockets that are marked with red arrows in illustration 8.
  9. Expand the figure (Figure 9).
  10. Repeat step six on this side (Illustration 10).
  11. Fold the piece in half (Illustration 11).
  12. Fold the figure again as in illustration 12.
  13. Now fold both sides along the dotted lines in illustration 13.
  14. Pull the figure by the upper wings (illustration 14).

A wonderful origami box that can be closed is ready!
