Kokoshnik is an ancient Russian headdress in the form of a comb (fan or rounded shield) around the head, a symbol of Russian traditional costume.

The secret of sewing a “flat” kokoshnik is simple: it is sewn with a backdrop, a sort of “cap” on which it rests. Large decorative bows are also sometimes placed on the backdrop.

Making a kokoshnik from Ekaterina Belyaeva-Chernysheva (Kate)

First, a silhouette is cut out of thick cardboard or glued in several layers, which is also the front part of the kokoshnik. Its inner arc is first cut out in a newspaper sketch, the optimal shape is found experimentally. Then comes the turn of patterns, the most painstaking part of the work.

ATTENTION! All sizes are given here just for comparison! (and without seam allowances) - You will still have to measure them again. The kokoshnik is a very individual thing, and if you try to put it on even a similar-looking head, you won’t succeed. But it will sit like a glove!

The patterns consist of a tracing paper of the front side, the “face” of the kokoshnik, a long panel of the top and the “back”. Everything is in at least 2 copies.

In the figure, the lines along which measurements are taken are indicated in red. The cross is the approximate "top", the corner point of the head. In practice, the distance up and down from it is approximately equal.

Open the top of the backdrop:

It is most convenient to first sew the backdrop separately using the first measurements, and then, putting it on your head, adjust it, pinning it with pins along the way - this is the origin of the sharp cutout, indicated by a dotted line on the cutting of the top. Once fitted, it can be stitched straight away.

Open the back of the back:

Put a cardboard base on the tightly stretched ready-made backdrop and draw chalk along the contour of the contact of the fabric to the cardboard. (This is easy to do in front of a mirror.) As a result, you will get an oval notch on the long top panel. It can be cut out and hidden in the seams, or you can leave it as a “visor” covering part of the forehead (but then it will be a little more difficult to sew on the front part).

The backdrop is sewn in at least two layers (if the fabric is very thick, you can do it in one, but you will have to hide the reverse), with thin fabric or a very heavy top (for example, abundantly decorated with stones) - in several layers.

Reveal faces:

The face of a kokoshnik comes in a wide variety of shapes and depends only on the imagination of the author. 2 parts are cut out from the main fabric according to the finished cardboard silhouette (don’t forget the seam allowances). It is not necessary to make a lining for the back part, but for the front part it is simply necessary. Whether the kokoshnik is decorated with embroidery and beads or rhinestones and stones, it will all look much better on the backing. As such, it is good, for example, to use flannel - it is thick and soft, and besides, it can be lightly quilted so as not to bulge and do without seams along the edges. If the main fabric is thin and see-through, the backing should be matching or white.

Then sew the backing to the main one facial tissue along the contour (that is, without going into the territory of seam allowances), and along the edge of the inner contour, sew the first (inner) backdrop. You perform the same operation with the second copies, with the only difference that here one layer is enough for the backing - it’s still worth doing it, because all the seams will be drawn back. To prevent the edges of the material from puffing up, it is better not to hem it, but to stitch it with a zigzag.

Now both parts of the “face”, turned inside out, are stitched along the entire length of the kokoshnik arc: on one side - from the top (center) down and to bottom corner, and on the other - in the same way, but bending around this corner and turning on bottom part, to the very beginning of the backdrop. Next, all the “excess” fabric of the seams is brought to the back, where it is carefully straightened out and masked behind the backing. This is the last moment to ensure that everything is done correctly.

After this, you can insert the cardboard base inside and manually stitch the bottom of the second arc. If you sew the bottom on both sides at once, it will be difficult to insert and may even bend. ;(Both backdrops are stitched manually, but very carefully, along the inner arc of the kokoshnik. The bottom of the backdrops can also be sewn on a machine.

Painting hats for the New Year holiday

Target. To evoke joyful feelings in children on the eve of the New Year holiday. Encourage them to develop a desire to independently come up with decorations for their headdress. Encourage them to actively use the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in drawing classes.

Material. Thick paper blanks for hats and kokoshniks (Fig. 24), gouache paint, palettes, brushes, pokes, felt-tip pens, colored wax crayons.

Progress of the lesson. The teacher talks about a good tradition, according to which, to participate in the New Year holiday, adults and children make for themselves carnival costumes, make masks, put on various hats. Then he shows the children 2-3 options for decorated hats, crowns and kokoshniks, which the children from the neighboring kindergarten they made it for themselves.

After the children examine them, the teacher expresses confidence that if they wish, they could decorate the hats for themselves.

Among the ready-made patterns for hats and kokoshniks, children choose the one they like best and paint it themselves visual materials at your own discretion. After the painting has dried, the caps are glued together, and ties are glued to the kokoshniks and crowns. Finished goods children use it in their games without waiting for the holiday.

Kokoshnik made of cardboard in the shape of a star. The cardboard is covered on both sides with shiny film or foil. Between the triangular protrusions, rays made of thick paper covered with foil or colored cardboard are glued (or sewn in). The headdress is tied under the chin using ribbons.

Dear colleagues, I recently suggested master class on making a costume for the Snow Maiden. But to complete the image Snow Maidens a headdress was required. I've never done anything like this, but I decided to try. I looked up the suggested methods on the Internet. making kokoshnik and got to work.

First, I prepared everything necessary for work. materials: brocade (remnants of a costume, white satin, decorative braid, braid from artificial hair, wide rim, thick cardboard, glue gun, beads and beads, clothespins.

I made a pattern and transferred it to cardboard, leaving allowances in the area where it was attached to the rim.

I cut out the front piece from brocade, leaving an allowance for the hem.

I glued the cut out part and the folds with glue - a pencil to the cardboard base.

Secure the corners with clothespins until completely dry glue.

Then I cut out a piece for the back side kokoshnik, but without allowance, and glued it to the cardboard.

Folded back the seam allowances kokoshnik on one side and attached it to the headband with hot glue.

For the pattern on the frontal cap, I measured the distance from the base kokoshnik to the middle of the forehead and length along the rim from edge to edge kokoshnik. I trimmed the edge with decorative braid, and for better fit I made an undercut for the hats.

I folded the seam allowance and glued the piece to the headband, and sewed the open areas by hand to the edge kokoshnik.

The braid was sewn into a strip of brocade.

And glued it to the headband.

I cut out a piece for the back of the head from white satin. I folded the long edge to the width of the elastic.

I inserted an elastic band into the hat and attached it to the headband.

I cut out the details for the bow.

I sewed and assembled the bow.

I attached it to the back of my head.

Edges and seams kokoshnik trimmed with braid, decorated with beads and beads.

Kokoshnik is ready!

Svetlana Naydenova Master class: Lace applique "Snow Maiden's Castle" Happy New Year Dear Colleagues! Ah, New Year, what will you be like?

Today I would like to present to your attention how you can make a kokoshnik for a girl at home, in my case we're talking about about production.

Kokoshnik for the “Autumn Fair” holiday. Folk fairs have been held in Rus' for a long time. Everyone gathered there as if it were a holiday. Jokes and jokes.

This year, the kindergarten staff and I prepared a model of the Cossack courtyard. It was necessary to make a house for him. Purpose: to introduce.

Dear colleagues, I would like to present to your attention a master class on making a Snow Maiden costume. There are a lot of beautiful New Year's ones in the stores.

Vershok is an old Russian measure of length equal to 4.4 cm. Our needleworker, housekeeper, lesovichok "Vershok" is made on the basis of bobbins of thread. More.

We begin to make a kokoshnik on a wire frame. As always, time is running out. Therefore, I will show you how to make a kokoshnik as quickly as possible - I will assemble the kokoshnik using glue, practically without using sewing.

The kokoshnik you need is not large, for those with a head size of 56-57.

It took me about 3 hours to make the kokoshnik. This despite the fact that everything necessary materials were at hand, the scheme and sequence of work was thought out. Plus experience. It took another 3 hours to decorate the kokoshnik with beads and sequin ribbon.

You need an elastic steel wire that holds its shape; silver brocade, collar-glued fabric or cardboard, Moment-Crystal glue (it has two undoubted advantages - transparent and quick-drying).

Two wires for the rim, one for the crown - the top of the kokoshnik. I bent it all out of one with pliers. We ended up with only two cut ends of the wire - you can see in the photo that they are attached to the structure with black electrical tape, which will be removed later.

Here I sketched it clumsily schematic diagram kokoshnik:

Interim result of making the kokoshnik:

We cover the back of the kokoshnik with brocade: cut out the part with an allowance and wrap it over the front part. Paper clips- This excellent helpers when gluing.
To cover the lower part of the headband, we cut out the brocade along the bias thread. From the side of the face we bend the allowances upward.

On the back side, the allowances can be folded and glued or cut to the edge and glued (depending on the “flowability” of the brocade).
We glue the rim on top, cutting the brocade to the edge.

Also, cutting the brocade along the contour of the frame, glue it to the front part of the top of the kokoshnik.

It’s not scary that the seam will be noticeable - it will close when decorating.

The kokoshnik is ready. If the wire frame was bent “over the head,” then the kokoshnik “sits” firmly on this head.

Now the best part remains - decorating the kokoshnik. We get everything that might be useful. We look, combine, try on. When gluing sequins and beads, a glue gun is indispensable.

I did not use individual beads, but ready-made beads collected on a thread (white and light blue beads). I placed a sequin ribbon (silver with a hologram) on the kokoshnik without adhering to strict symmetry. The result is a kokoshnik like this:

Advice: in some places it is advisable to sew the beads with threads to the kokoshnik (there is little hope for glue).

I continue decorating.
I sew and glue a hat from tulle: in front it goes over the forehead, in the back it is gathered with an elastic band. All this gives the kokoshnik a O greater “stability” on the head.

I sew a bow to the back of the kokoshnik. With a bow, the kokoshnik takes on the appearance of a Russian folk headdress, which is just right for the Snow Maiden

A sequin ribbon is sewn along the tulle on the frontal part (these additions took another 3 hours)

Happy new year friends!

The Snow Maiden costume is one of the most popular outfits on New Year's celebration. Many girls dream of trying on the image of the granddaughter of Santa Claus. The main attribute of such an outfit is a beautiful kokoshnik. Making it with your own hands is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

What is needed for a kokoshnik

Kokoshnik can be made different ways. Therefore, the list of necessary materials is varied. In most cases you will need following materials and tools:

  • Paper and cardboard. An ordinary newspaper can also be used as paper for creating a layout. Cardboard is selected depending on the type of decorations with which the product will be decorated;
  • Piece of fabric blue color. Guipure with New Year's patterns is good;
  • Hoop. You can use a regular wide plastic hoop;
  • Pencil, eraser and scissors;
  • Metal strips or wire different lengths. It can be given the desired shape, in addition, it holds its shape well;
  • Satin ribbons of various widths;
  • Glue or glue gun (PVA, Moment and others);
  • Decorative elements (rhinestones, beads, sparkles, beads, etc.;
  • Candle or lighter;
  • Foam rubber.

Important! The cardboard must be prepared and straightened in advance, because... Some types of cardboard are stored rolled up. We need to give him time to rest under the influence of the load.

General recommendations for making the Snow Maiden's kokoshnik

First you need to decide on the shape, size and design features of the future product. To do this, you need to look at the Snow Maiden’s outfit in specialized literature or on thematic websites. The kokoshnik can have the shape of a classic dome, a flower and the edge of a snowflake. Ultimately, much is determined by the author’s imagination and personal preferences. Even if there is finished pattern The kokoshnik will still have to be adjusted to fit your head or your child’s head so that it fits perfectly and holds well on the hoop. Therefore, most important point is the process of making a pattern and fitting the resulting workpiece.

Attention! Carefully consider the size of the future kokoshnik, because... first of all, it should be comfortable, light and not create discomfort during the event.

How to make a Snow Maiden kokoshnik with a hoop

When all the necessary materials have been prepared, you can begin making the outfit. Let us consider step by step the process of making one of the popular types of kokoshnik with a hoop:

  • First you need to model the shape of the future product. To make it symmetrical, the paper should be folded in half and the outline of the kokoshnik should be drawn. You can make several options and choose the most suitable one;
  • The resulting workpiece must be unfolded and the rim attached to it. It should be noted dotted line rim outline;
  • We cut a hole for the head and adjust it to the required parameters by fitting. It should be cut a little larger, because... product in in this case will join the hoop. You can also measure the workpiece on an already worn hoop;
  • The strip where the rim will be attached is cut into equal sections 2 cm long;
  • The resulting pattern should be transferred to thick cardboard white;
  • Cardboard can be wrapped in elegant blue fabric or painted;
  • When pasting with fabric, you need to cut out two parts according to the shape of the template. One of the elements should be 1 cm larger. After gluing, the fabric should dry thoroughly. We also glue the allowance with reverse side. Further decorative finishing it will be disguised;
  • We are preparing a hoop. To do this, we wrap it with a narrow ribbon and grease it with glue in places;
  • By bending the remaining teeth on the kokoshnik, we glue it with inside hoop;
  • The headdress is ready and you can start decorating it.

Reference! Instead of a hoop, you can use a strip of foam rubber. It is glued to the front and back of the product. In this way the kokoshnik will be securely fastened and will not cause unpleasant and painful sensations. They should be beautifully decorated.

We create various versions of the Snow Maiden's kokoshnik with our own hands

There are other ways to make a kokoshnik. Let's look at the features of making a kokoshnik with an artificial braid. You will also need white satin, an elastic band and a false braid. To sew a product, follow the step-by-step instructions:

  1. After making the main part, you need to start making the cap on your forehead. It is necessary to measure the distance from the base of the product to the middle of the forehead, as well as the length of the rim;
  2. You should consider a dart so that the part fits better on the forehead;
  3. The outer part of the product is decorated in various ways;
  4. The resulting part is connected to a kokoshnik and a hoop;
  5. Next, you should prepare the braid. It is better to sew it onto a piece of material exactly the same as the headdress and secure it to the back of the product;
  6. Cut out the back of the craft. To do this, we cut out a semi-oval, having previously measured the distance between the ears and from the beginning of the kokoshnik to the shoulders;
  7. The edge of the back hat is folded and an elastic band is inserted into it for ease of dressing and a better fit of the product on the head;
  8. Next, the back part is attached to the kokoshnik;
  9. You should make blanks for bows. To do this, cut out a rectangle measuring approximately 60x40 cm and a strip of 60x10 cm, bending the edges. A bow is made from these parts. It can be made in any other convenient way;
  10. The bow is attached to the base of the braid;
  11. The headdress is ready. All that remains is to decorate it, if possible hiding the seams from connecting the parts.

You can also make a headdress without a hoop. To do this you need to prepare beautiful ribbon two or more centimeters wide. The wider the tape, the better. It is sewn to the kokoshnik and tied at the back of the head. This method is universal and the product is suitable for any head. Also, in addition, the kokoshnik can be attached to the head with invisible ones.

How to decorate the Snow Maiden's kokoshnik

When it comes to decorating a product, the craftswoman may have absolute freedom. Various will fit decorative elements. Many of them can be taken from old or unnecessary things and decorations. The most common kokoshniks in museum collections are richly decorated with pearl mesh. At the same time, strings of pearls descend onto the cheeks of the snowy beauty. You can repeat this pattern yourself by adding regular ones with white pebbles. Let's consider one of simple ways decorating the kokoshnik blank with fabric. Follow these steps:

  • The cardboard blank can be wrapped in a piece of tulle. To do this, cut out a kokoshnik from paper or thin plastic. Next, we wrap it in fabric;
  • Let's start sewing on the machine. The first line is made without affecting the workpiece. The second line is laid along the outer contour, moving the workpiece towards the first line;
  • Next, we cut out the resulting part along the edge, leaving allowances of 1 cm on each side of the outline;
  • Patterns must be applied to the resulting part. If you used transparent plastic, you can first draw patterns on a piece of paper. Then place it under the plastic and simply trace the patterns with gold glue along the finished markings. If a sheet of paper is covered with tulle, then the patterns can be applied using stencils or randomly;
  • Next, add additional decorations.

Reference! The kokoshnik should be beautifully decorated both on the outside and on the inside.

To top edge The craft looked impressive and a thread of beads was sewn onto it. It is better to sew beads, seed beads and glass beads rather than using glue. You can glue the fringe along the bottom using a special heat gun. The places where the parts are attached are decorated with white tinsel or other elements. You can make spectacular petals using the kanzashi technique. To do this you will need to do the following:

  • To make them you need to take two ribbons of white and silver color. We cut out squares with a side of 2.5 cm from silver material, and from white with a side of 5 cm;
  • We bend each square first diagonally, and then in half and in half again;
  • We hold the resulting element with tongs, cut off a couple of millimeters from the tip and scorch it until it is completely glued using a candle or lighter;
  • We also cut off the lower part of the petal and cauterize it, thereby protecting the tissue from possible scorching in the future;
  • Do this with all the cut out squares. Next, silver petals are glued inside the white ones;
  • You can leave the white petals separately and glue beads to them;
  • Next, we begin to decorate the kokoshnik with the resulting elements. In the central part you can place big flower, and on the sides there are two small ones. You can come up with a composition yourself;
  • It is better to place large, visible beads in the middle of the resulting flowers.

Important! It is better to place petals using the kanzashi technique on the product in a checkerboard pattern. In this way, you get a peculiar effect of drowning each next row between the petals of the previous one.

For decoration will suit foil, pieces of brocade and other spectacular fabrics, Christmas tree rain and other decorative elements. You can use lace stripes. Of course, snowflakes cut from fabric or paper will look impressive. Can buy ready-made snowflakes in the store, and also draw them acrylic paints. Often a beautiful addition to the kokoshnik of Santa Claus's granddaughter is a light web shawl or silk ribbons.

You can make an exclusive kokoshnik for the Snow Maiden with your own hands. Do not forget about the manufacturing standards of this headdress, so that it is as close as possible to the models from fairy-tale illustrations and films. By following simple recommendations, you can do it yourself in one evening.
