Children after eating grandmother's pie often wipe their hands directly on their clothes. Husbands "please" stains from machine oil, put in the garage, and women themselves can accidentally put a stain, in a hurry trying the cooked dinner. It often happens that after a loud feast you don’t notice traces of your negligence on the dress, and after a month you find an unpleasant surprise and puzzle over how to remove the old greasy stain left on the clothes.

The most stubborn and persistent is the stain that has ingrained into the fabric, and it is very difficult to deal with it without the use of expensive stain removers. It's much better to use granny's methods because it will save you a lot of money and sometimes time. The choice of a folk method of dealing with greasy stains depends on many factors:

  • what kind of fat on clothes;
  • on which fabric the stains are placed (material and color are of great importance: using too harsh a product, you can ruin your favorite thing);
  • how long the dirt has been on the clothes (the fresher the stain, the more gentle the way to get rid of it).

Do not forget about precautionary measures and preliminary preparation for the rescue operation. The selected product should be tested on an additional piece of fabric or on a hidden area of clothing.

Consider the 10 most effective ways combating traces of greasy stains on things at home:

The stain should be treated with powder using a cotton pad dipped in warm water. After that, you need to put a sheet of white paper on the treated areas and iron it with an iron for the maximum high temperature. You can use blotting paper, in which case the result will be more noticeable. Tooth powder will help you remove even stains that are far from the first freshness.

Salt

For many years, it has been the salvation of all hostesses, as it plays the role of an absorbent. It will help to remove not only fat, but also traces of blood, wine and juice. A feature and advantage of this method is that it can even be used to save clothes made of delicate fabrics, such as chiffon.

The essence of the method is simple: a greasy stain is covered with salt, the salt is gently rubbed with a finger and removed with a brush. These actions are repeated again and again until the stain on the clothes becomes almost invisible. After that, send the item to the laundry. Better to use this method to fight fresh stains.

Laundry soap (72%)

The good old Soviet laundry soap has been serving humanity for decades. All you need to do is soak a bar of soap in warm water and rub it on the greasy areas of your clothes. You should leave the soapy thing for the night, and after that it will be enough to send it to the washing machine. Soap will not help to remove old stains, but it can easily remove fresh ones. The blotter, familiar to all Soviet students, now serves as a lifeguard in the household. It will help to bring out the remnants of a delicious lunch not only on a cotton T-shirt, but also on a silk dress. One paper is not enough, you also need a hot iron. All fat will be absorbed into the bottom sheet, and the thing will become like new!

Grease stain soaked into blotting paper

If you left a stain on your jeans, then mustard will help to remove it easily. This method should not be used for light clothes, but for dark jeans it will fit perfectly. The main advantage of the above methods is financial savings. But remember that store-bought stain removers are not only very expensive, they include chemical elements that adversely affect the skin and the body as a whole. Before buying stain removers, do not be too lazy to try simple folk methods.

Before washing greasy stains, it is necessary to determine:

  • type of contamination - food fat or machine oil;
  • the color and material of clothing - each uses its own method of removing unpleasant traces;

  • Add stain remover with every wash.

There are many ways to remove stains. Of course, not all of them are able to cope with pollution. But in this case, a professional dry cleaner will come to the rescue.

Grease stains fall into two main categories - fresh and old. Fresh ones have not yet had time to soak into the fabric fibers, so they are relatively easy to remove with the help of improvised means, such as salt, tooth powder, chalk, alcohol and soap. Solvents can deal with old dried stains. For expensive white and colored clothes, it is advisable to use specialized stain removers. Do not forget about the manufacturer's recommendations regarding washing modes.

Fat stains - a big problem for light and dark (black) clothes, because they are very noticeable and spoil a lot appearance. The sooner action is taken, the greater the chance of fish, lard or chicken.

General rules for removing grease stains

During the cleaning itself, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • detergents are used in order of increasing activity - from weak folk methods to professional stain removers (for example, Vanish, Fairy);
  • pay Special attention delicate fabrics- they are very easy to damage with strong detergent or careless use of force;
  • you should not use several stain removers at the same time - it is not known how they will behave when in contact with curtains, tulle, sheets, tablecloths, pillowcases;
  • any processing is done from the edges to the center of the stain, so as not to smear it on a clean cloth.

If you follow the above rules, then the removal of the stain should take place with minimal financial and time costs.

How to get a fresh stain out

fresh footprints are relatively easy to remove from the fabric due to the fact that the fat does not have time to soak the fibers of the fabric and dry there.

Note! The sooner you start cleaning the formed stain, the more likely it is to be removed.

For fresh stains, it is usually enough to use improvised means, the activity of which is quite enough for the meat fat that has not yet solidified. In any case, they should be applied before removing a greasy stain on clothes.

Salt

Salt has the ability to instantly seize any liquid. Salt crystals absorb excess moisture, including fat, which is eaten into tissues.

Salt needs to be covered with a fresh stain, the sooner the better. The more fat is absorbed into the powder, the less it will remain on the pants, jeans, T-shirt, blouse or dress, suede bag. With a large excess of moisture, a portion of salt can be replaced several times by shaking off the old with a soft cloth or brush.

Alcohol

The strength of this household solvent is enough to liquefy slightly dried-on fresh stains.

Due to its high fluidity, it penetrates deep into the fibers of cotton, chiffon, silk or knitwear after the fat, dissolving it and turning it into a cloudy liquid. The treatment is conveniently carried out with a cotton swab, which is periodically replaced with a fresh one.

Laundry soap

Hand sanitizing can be done in two ways:

  • chafing - a fresh stain is soaked hot water and rubbed liberally with soap; in this form, it is left for several hours, after which it is washed under running water;
  • soaking - a grated bar of soap is dissolved in a container with hot water, the clothes are soaked entirely in the resulting solution for several hours, after which they can be washed using the method recommended by the manufacturer (see the tag).

Advice : The soaking solution should have a slightly thick consistency.

Chalk

Chalk powder has properties similar to salt.

It is also great at absorbing wet greasy marks when sprinkled on top.

The downside is that a piece of chalk is not always at hand; salt is most often used. Removing excess fat makes it much more effective to remove oil and grease stains.

Dentifrice

Tooth powder is more common in the home than chalk powder, so it can be used in a similar way to chalk and salt.

In addition, toothpowder can be mixed with a little warm water and applied to a fresh stain by rubbing it into the fabric with an old toothbrush or finger until it lathers. The activity of the tooth powder is enough to remove fresh stains. If necessary, the procedure is repeated. Soda can also be used in the same way.

Shaving foam

Shaving foam contains active ingredients which dissolve some fatty contaminants.

The stain is soaked in hot water, a small amount of foam is applied to it and rubbed well. The procedure is repeated several times until the fish or oil fat is completely gone.

How to wash old grease stains

Old traces have already managed to soak well into viscose, bologna and suede fabric and dry there. To remove them, you need to use more strong means which are able to dissolve even such contaminants. Before trying to remove old greasy stains with solvents, you can try the methods described above.

Salt

On the basis of hot water, salt gruel is prepared, which is applied to the stain with a finger. It literally "pulls out" fat from any fabric, greatly facilitating further washing of clothes in washing machine.

Gasoline "Kalosha"

The solvent is able to clean stains of varying complexity, including traces, or resins, from any fabric, because. has the maximum activity among improvised means.

It must be used with caution - it is volatile, flammable and has a persistent bad smell. Do not forget about caution when using it on a leather jacket, trousers or sports shoes– to avoid loss of color and shape of the product, gasoline is tested on an inconspicuous area.

Turpentine

Turpentine can be found in almost any garage, it scrubs well any stains, including greasy ones. Safety precautions and methods of use are similar for any solvents.

Note! Paint thinners like mineral spirits and 646 are excellent stain removers.

Glycerol

used as aid for greasy old stains on clothes. It is heated in the microwave to a warm state and applied to the stain. After cooling and drying, it can be removed with any available solvent.

The subtleties of removing stains on white and colored clothes

It is important to know which products can be used for white clothes and things (towels, sweatshirts, sweaters), and which ones for colored ones, and vice versa.

Unpleasant moments

This will help avoid unpleasant surprises like.

colored clothes cannot be processed:

  • hot water;
