Capsule wardrobe examples. What is a capsule wardrobe? What clothes to choose for the office: creating a capsule

Winter is approaching inexorably, which means it's time to warm up and prepare your wardrobe. In winter, we often forget about style, because the cold forces us to wear what will be warm, and not what we would like to wear. So I decided to show you how to put together a small but very functional capsule wardrobe for the winter. And, most importantly, a stylish winter wardrobe, because warmth, comfort and style can be combined, not mutually exclusive.

The winter capsule is the most difficult to compile. It is necessary to think over and take into account many points and nuances. Therefore, you can find my tips to help you plan and compose your winter wardrobe. And today you will see specific example capsule wardrobe for the winter. Detailed description how I make capsules and what points I take into account, you can find in the wardrobe that I got this time, it will suit both a student or a young mother, and a girl working in the office (without a strict business dress code). It turned out to be very versatile 🙂 So, let's start!

Analysis of lifestyle and main activities

This is very milestone, as it will help you determine what your wardrobe should be. A clear answer to all questions will help you avoid situations where you have nothing to wear for specific case. I often say this: clothes should fully correspond to your image and rhythm of life.

This winter capsule is suitable for the following activities:

– work or study (without a strict business dress code)

– walks and daily activities (shopping, childcare, city and household chores)

- meeting with friends and other entertainment

— parties and “outings” (10-15%)

– active recreation – 10%

Style concept development

For a capsule wardrobe for the winter, I chose casual style with the addition of classic more elegant elements. Keywords: warm, comfortable, stylish clothes. Most of the looks will be suitable for work/study and daily activities, 15% for more festive and solemn events, since there are especially many of them in winter, and 10% for active rest in winter.

Choice of categories and type of clothes

IN this case I can give you the following tips for choosing things:

– If you do not have the opportunity to purchase several types of winter outerwear, then I recommend stopping at two: the first is warm woolen classic coat, for example, such a knee length (if you tall) and just above the knee (if you are short). This will allow you to wear it with skirts and trousers, and the classic cut can be combined with elegant shoes with heels and rough boots. Second, this parka, for example, like this one with a hood. They are easily suitable for more strict images(will give urban chic) and for everyday, very functional and comfortable to wear. Choose outerwear that is slightly oversized (one size larger than usual) so that it can be worn freely with thick sweaters and wool jackets and does not look like a sausage 🙂

- As usual, I advise you to choose more tops than bottoms, as this will make the wardrobe more diverse. In addition, layering helps a lot in winter, so pay attention to things that can be worn on top of each other.

- Bet on natural fabrics, they will warm you better and will not irritate the skin. The best choice- wool, mohair, thick cotton and cashmere (maybe with the addition of a small percentage of artificial fibers for better wear resistance). And don't forget about proper care behind fabrics so that your clothes last longer. I wrote about how to care for cashmere in.

— Choose comfortable shoes from quality materials on a thick sole, then the feet will be less cold.

Don't ignore the hats! They can not only warm, but also complete and decorate your image.

Defining a color palette

I chose a slightly atypical winter wardrobe color scheme:

primary colors– gray + pale pink

basic (neutral)- black

additional– khaki + fuchsia

I think these colors make this winter capsule more interesting and bright. And I really like the combination of pastel pink and gray, it looks gentle and romantic. In my personal winter capsule, these colors also dominate 🙂

Choice of clothes

Here are the things I picked up for our capsule wardrobe for the winter (look for links to all things below under the picture):

Pompom hat and snood scarf. Can be worn as a set or combined with other accessories.

Wool beret (another cute and feminine beret at a more budget price). Add coquetry and femininity.

Oversized scarf. I also love the classic gray lambswool tassel scarf and the very chic 100% cashmere plaid scarf. Any of these scarves will fit well into this capsule and will keep you warm 🙂

P.S. Do not forget to change the country of delivery in online stores (this can be done either at the top or bottom of the page) to your own, otherwise you will have to add everything to the basket again 🙂

winter images

Out of those 19 pieces, I ended up with more than 30 looks, as the pieces are very functional and easy to match. I chose the 30 most interesting, in my opinion, images:

Analysis of the wardrobe

Thus, in this winter capsule there are looks for both work and everyday activities, as well as more dressy sets. Conventionally, this capsule wardrobe can be divided into three mini-capsules: business for work, everyday And elegant .

By the way, breaking your wardrobe into smaller capsules for specific purposes is very convenient and practical. They can be mixed with each other depending on the situation, but the main backbone should be. In this capsule wardrobe base of the business capsule- jacket, trousers, White shirt and turtleneck.

So you do not have to think about what to wear and you will stop buying unnecessary things. Today I want to introduce a capsule wardrobe for the summer. Summer clothes are not so expensive, so there are 13 pieces and 34 looks in this wardrobe. It turns out that you will put on each of the images no more than three times per flight, but at the same time you wear all the things and it will not be a pity to change them.

I did not take into account a lot of accessories: 3 bags, 4 jewelry, 3 sandals and 2 pairs of shoes with heels.

You can use fewer things in this capsule if you forgo dresses, but what about summer without dresses? I couldn't resist. First option - trendy this year, ethnic style. In a light linen dress-shirt, the heat is unbearable. The shoes match the dress and don't match anything else in the capsule. This is an independent image from which in others we use only earrings.

The second image in nautical style. Perfect for boat trips or along the beach. And just for walking. In this image, we support two trends - nautical theme and underlined, slightly overestimated, waistline.

The third option with a dress in a tropical floral style, with trendy white accents. I chose a bag and shoes that are concise so that they do not distract from the amazing pattern on the dress. If you want to choose jewelry for this image, then choose simple options so that the outfit does not become feminine and elegant, wild and parrot.

White total bow. This is one of the most important summer trends, it should be in every wardrobe. How to Choose and Wear All-White Looks

In the next image, I added white image trendy gold.

Here's another incredible fashion combination white and of blue color.

And in this bow, 4 trends of this summer are collected at once: White color, gold, floral print and short top opening the belly.

Another one fashion trend this summer shorts. Some of them, in our capsule, are white.

We also combine them with flowers, then with blue, then with gold.

Shorts are also chosen with a high waist, according to all the rules of fashion this season.

When choosing clothes this season, give preference natural fabrics. Cotton, linen, silk, etc. Lace is especially popular now.

The next option in maritime theme. The combination of colors, bag handles and a large chain speaks about it.

The next combination is bright and positive.

Red shorts are much more practical than white ones. They will not leave noticeable stains if you sit down on a dusty bench or chair in a summer cafe.

The gold version will be more solemn and suitable for a party or a date.

The most important thing in creating a capsule is to choose suitable shades. For example, in the following bow, red shorts are suitable dark shades red in the flowers on the top, and White bag to the top, gold accessories to the accessories of the bag.

On the next version, sandals and a bag make the look more beachy and walking.

Sets with gold are perfect for visiting various official events.

Many fashionistas like the pencil skirt, so it is in trend.

The short top focuses on the belly.

The pencil skirt is a classic. She is loved because she perfectly emphasizes the shape of the hips, slims and visually makes the legs longer.

White, blue and red - the simplest color combination which is hard to miss.

Carefully choose the color of accessories, it must match. If you chose gold, then it should be of the same shade.

Details give the image its own mood, complementing it.

Chose low-cut shoes bright jewelry and the image acquired lightness.

Lace and translucent fabrics create a mysterious and romantic option.

Loose midi skirts do not constrain movements and do not scatter in the wind, like short ones.

This free-cut skirt will add visual volume in the hips.

This skirt is good for its femininity. At the same time, she makes a young girl out of any beauty.

A thin translucent skirt in is the most delicate option.

It will not be hot in it, it will give the image airiness and ease.

Properly selected things, combined with each other, will help to look diverse in the same things.

What could be better than variety? Any girl wants to look diverse, stylish and original, in clothes that suit her.

An example of a capsule wardrobe for business style can be seen.

We often hear and read about basic wardrobe, and on the Internet you can find a lot of lists of things that you just need to have.However, in addition to the base, which everyone should undoubtedly have their own, we also need the so-called capsules.

What it is? A capsule is a set of things for certain occasions. For example, a capsule of clothing for work. Capsule of clothes for sea holidays. Capsule clothing for a holiday in the mountains. Capsule for your weekend and so on. There can be as many as you wish.

An example of a capsule collection for relaxation.

The meaning of the capsule is that all the things included in it, including shoes and accessories, are combined with each other and allow you to create many different looks. So, having bought three business shirts, one pencil skirt, formal trousers, a pair of cardigans, you will receive a capsule for work. You just have to complement it with a suitable pair of shoes, belts, scarves and outfits for the whole working week you are provided. Naturally, you will not go to rest on the sea in black tight skirt and jacket, you will find another, more suitable clothes, and create new set items that fit together.

Capsule collection in casual style.

Festive collection for the New Year holidays.

Summer capsule.

Capsule of clothes in office style.

There are no standards for the selection of capsules. All of them are built based on your tastes and your lifestyle. If you do not work in the office, then it is silly to advise you to select a capsule in a business style. You don't need classic pants and white shirts. But jeans, bright scarves, casual jackets may well replace all the severity of the office style.

It is very convenient to have several capsules. This will make it easier for you to make ready-made bows. Indeed, in search of the right things, you will not search through your entire wardrobe, but pay attention only to those models that were bought specifically for this occasion.Each capsule can be made in different colors, and you will always have something to combine with.

In general, the capsules are solid pluses.
Because most of us work in an office.Willy-nilly, we have to observe the rules of decency in clothes.
Even if the dress code in the company is not strict, you can hardly afford to go to work in ordinary casual clothes. As much as you don't want to.

Therefore, the so-called "working" wardrobe is simply necessary for us.

In order for you to stand in front of an open closet in the morning, you do not bother to think for a long time on the topic - what to wear today, your "working" capsule must be correctly composed.
As I already wrote, it is impossible for everyone to prescribe the right pill when choosing clothes. I would like to draw your attention to this now. I write tips tips that you can be guided by when compiling your wardrobe. But blindly repeating and buying all the things that I will indicate below for the "working" capsule is clearly not worth it.

Take a look at the things I have suggested. Take a fresh look at those that hang on your hangers and already dance from this. Maybe you should buy something, and throw something away, or maybe you already have a ready-made capsule that you didn’t know about!

So, how do I see a "working" wardrobe for an ordinary ordinary office employee, not a top-level one and adhering to a dress code that is not entirely strict.

First, we need to have:
- classic (yes, no way out of it) straight skirt or pencil skirt;
- straight trousers (variations are possible: slightly flared, tapered, tapered cropped, with stitched arrows, etc.);
- jacket in business style;
- dress (case or dress-dress or any other style of strictly classical style);
- a shirt (strict, without frills, large colored or shiny buttons);
- simple knitted top(since we have a non-strict dress code, we can do it without sleeves).

This first layer our wardrobe, so to speak, the foundation of the foundations.

It is boring because everything should be simple deep colors, without patterns and contrasting details. But already on this layer you can easily put more interesting things that will make your everyday images more diverse.

About color solutions first layer.

Everyone chooses for himself which color is more pleasant. Someone prefers black, someone dark blue, someone likes camel or gray. In my opinion, gray and beige are more versatile in terms of changing seasons. If beige or gray skirt would be appropriate to watch both in winter and in summer, then, say, black in the summer looks too burdensome.

Example first layer shown in two versions.
Under the number one for the winter-autumn period.
Under the number two - summer and warm spring.
Look, there are only six things. And how many ensembles you can create with them. And we haven't added accessories and shoes yet.
I deliberately made these looks in a single color except for shirts and tops. The less variation in colors you have in the first layer, the easier it will be for you to create the second, and even more so to invent turnkey solutions from what is.

Let's move on to the second layer.
Things are more fun here - more colors, more interesting styles.
The main goal of the second layer of the base is to give our classic filling an imprint of modernity and fashion.
This layer is even more dependent on your personal preferences and tastes.

What should you pay attention to when compiling this part of the wardrobe. First of all, the colors. How new color, you enter at this stage is combined with those that are, what it is supported by.
Do not forget about the texture of the fabric. Yes, you can wear a velvet jacket to work, complemented by you on the second layer, but will it be good in combination, for example, with a tweed skirt that you chose on the first. Very often we pay attention to color combinations, but we forget that the fabrics in the sets should also support each other, and not contradict each other.

I did two again. different types the second layer, based on the first bases. One for winter-autumn. The second is for summer-warm spring.
In the second layer winter-autumn we include:
- blouse with long sleeves;
- blouse with short sleeves;
- intricate skirt;
- a brighter dress compared to the first layer;
- two knitted cardigans;
- knitted jumper;
- dark blue classic jeans(for Friday or sudden business trips);
- a couple of boats;
- a pair of ballet flats;
- three belts of different colors$
- two bags;
- two scarves;
- watch;
- a pair of classic design earrings;
- several chains and pendants.

All.
Below is all of the above base - the first and second.

Even lower are the possible variations of the combination of things. I made only six examples, but you can twist and turn objects as much as you like, coming up with new options.

Now let's move on to summer second layer.
The principle of its formation is identical. The set of things that can be easily changed is slightly different. For example, here I don’t have jeans, although I could have. Some juicy color.

What I have included:
- blouse with long sleeves;
- blouse with short sleeves;
- funny plaid shirt;
- knitted cardigan;
- white jacket;
- one more skirt;
- a dress with an interesting drapery;
- two bags of different colors;
- two scarves of different colors;
- three pairs of shoes;
- belts of all colors in the wardrobe;
- bracelets;
- necklaces.

Here's what happened to me this time.

Combination options.

And how do you form your wardrobe, do you adhere to any strict rules? Do you follow the dress code or do you have the opportunity to neglect it?;)

What to wear? and who is to blame? - these are the two main questions of our time. Chaos in the closet creates chaos in our thoughts and burns out our precious time and nerves. And who will make up for this devastating feeling of their own insignificance and absurdity, when they searched for a long time, and put on / bought the wrong thing again? Salvation, as always, is in our hands. It is necessary not only to “eat wildly little,” as Renata Litvinova said, but also to swindle less. And not to be in one beautiful morning naked in the face of an imminent business meeting, and always have a compact and stylish wardrobe, learn the equipment and follow the instructions, do not hesitate to "customize" them for yourself.

A capsule wardrobe is not a closet from outer space, but a set of specially selected 6-10 garments, which add up to 10-15 sets. Each thing organically and in style fits the other from the capsule. You no longer need to puzzle over “what to wear” - just take what you have at the ready, put it on and run to the office or to a business meeting. In general, to success.

Usually, when creating capsules, we are talking only about clothes, since shoes and accessories are selected separately and after the main capsules are ready.

It is advised to collect 2-3 capsules (up to 37 things) in the main wardrobe for all seasons. You won’t get bored, but it will ease the pain of choosing a “bow”, and in the closet it will appear free place from unnecessary things that hang unclaimed for years, but every time they fall on your head when you open the door.

One of the big advantages of a capsule wardrobe is savings (it’s better to spend money on travel!) And getting rid of the fever of consumerism. We call it beautiful word Antimaterialism. If you manage, you will save yourself from rash purchases and automatically start picking up things that match your capsules.

More rational and systemic girls and boys (these are still clothes!) went further and created one small capsule wardrobe for all seasons and occasions. Read the column of the guy who fit his entire wardrobe in one bag - he inspired us to this material.

Five rules of the capsule wardrobe

RULE #1

In the last week or two of the season, plan and update your wardrobe for the next season.

RULE #2

Reduce the number of your items to 37. These 37 items should include: shirts/blouses/shirts, pants/skirts/shorts, dresses, outerwear, and shoes. These 37 things don't need to include: sportswear, jewelry, accessories, handbags, swimwear, pajamas/nightgowns, underwear and the jeans you wear when you decide to paint your living room.

Why 37? After trying a few various options, I settled on 37 because that number breaks down easily into all of the above categories. For example, I knew I wanted to keep 9 pairs of shoes, 9 bottoms, and 15 tops. The remaining four positions included two dresses, a coat and a jacket. In my opinion, in so many things, minimalism and diversity are best combined.

Well, honestly, the point is to try something new. Don't get obsessed with the number 37, if you can't invest in 37 things, try something that works for you.

For the easiest way to select things for your compact wardrobe, read on.

RULE #3

Wear these 37 things for no more than three months, they can also be called seasons. For me personally, the seasons look like this: winter (January-March), spring (April-June), summer (July-September), autumn (October-December). And don't forget, since your accessories are not included in the compact wardrobe, you can change them as you wish.

RULE #4

Enjoy your compact wardrobe and do not buy new things for the current three months. Don't buy at all. More on this point in the fifth "rule".

RULE #5

Okay, it's not exactly a rule, but it's still very important! The number of items you buy new season, depends on you, but remember that minimalism is important here. So less is better. It is very fun to choose something interesting, guided by these rules. I usually buy 4-8 items for each new season.

Don't know how to choose the right things? Here are three easy steps:

Step one:

Get everything out of your closet. Seriously, take absolutely everything from your closet and arrange it around you, don't cheat! When you start putting things you just love back into your empty closet, your own Fashionable style it will be hard not to notice. But this will not happen if, in addition to your favorite things, things about which you are not sure are lost there.

Step two:

Sort all your belongings into four piles:

“I love it and would wear it right now!” - Put it back in the closet.

"May be". - This is for things that may not suit you a little: the wrong color, too attached to this thing - it’s hard to throw it away, but you don’t want to wear it either, it’s a pity to get rid of it because of the money spent, etc. Put all these things in a box and take it away. You can always choose something from there later, but most likely this will never happen. If they are still gathering dust in the box at the end of the three-month season, you should say goodbye to them forever.

"No". - Everything is clear here. Give these things to humanitarian aid or friends, maybe sell them in order to buy something new.

"Seasonal". - Wool coat in summer? I'm afraid it won't do much for now. Well, of course, such names will come across to everyone. If not now right season but you really like something, put it in a separate place to use in your compact wardrobe when the time comes.

Step three:

Assess what's left in your closet - i.e. your favorite things. It is necessary to adjust their number to 37 items on current season. Something is missing? It's time to plan and go shopping. Too many things left? Go through them again and put the part in the "maybe" box.

They did it: The experience of a girl and a guy who put together a capsule wardrobe and lived happily ever after.

HER EXPERIENCE

I tried the capsule wardrobe and I still have plenty of clothes to dress differently and in new ways every day.

In early 2014, blogger Vallarina Creative wrote a post about her decision to downsize her closet by creating a capsule wardrobe. She described the pros and cons; it turned out that cutting down your wardrobe and “pairing” things is a tough and difficult task. In the process, it seemed that more things to make a wardrobe less.

A capsule wardrobe is, in fact, a miniature wardrobe of extremely versatile clothes that go together. And nothing more. Idea: have a small number of items in your wardrobe and discover various ways combining details so as not to wear the same outfit twice. It's about about accessories, blouses, dresses, outerwear, trousers, shoes, skirts and t-shirts. Yes, the wardrobe for the year consists of only 37 parts.

When I moved to new apartment after graduating from college, she began cleaning her belongings. I kept the old love notes, old Greeting Cards and these boots, which she herself bought and never wore. After cleaning up a bit and experiencing the sense of freedom that came with getting rid of old clothes, I began to like the idea of a capsule wardrobe. The process involves a lot of planning, careful selection of new purchases, and having to come to terms with not buying a sweater that, for no reason, I just wanted to buy. But the idea of limiting the wardrobe and not spending money on items that are fashionable for a month, and then lying in the closet, attracted me.

Step 1: Preparation

I dug up some tips on how to build a capsule wardrobe to narrow it down to 37 items that can be worn for the three months that counts as "season". In Indiana, where I live, spring and summer seasons go hand in hand. Starting in late March, you never know if you'll wake up to a cool breeze through the window or drenched in sweat from the heat and humidity. So I combined both seasons and started the process.

Step 2: Visually examine each item

I laid out the contents of the entire closet on the bed, and the shoes on the floor in front of her. I had to see every item and really appreciate if I was wearing it and if I even remembered that there was such a thing. Or maybe it's finally time for her to find a more suitable host. I divided all the clothes into three piles: 1) to leave, 2) it is possible to leave, 3) to give or donate to charity.

Step 3: Cleaning

One large stack and two small ones - after a couple of hours I was very proud that everything turned out so easily. Mom, sister and friends always joked that I only wear a few things, even though the closet is full to capacity. It turns out that I unconsciously, but already practiced a capsule wardrobe.

I took a bunch of “absolutely leave” and put them back in the closet, and returned the shoes to their places on the rack (Yes, I separate them by color and style. Judge me). After counting the number of things, I realized that there were only 30 of them! I still had room for new acquisitions. During the cleaning process, I realized that a few necessary wardrobe items for the spring/summer season were not even enough.

The best thing at this stage was that I finally got rid of all the clothes that I never intended to wear again. First, I offered to dig into my selected older sister. We have a long history of "stealing" clothes from each other's closet, so I figured she'd want something. But even after the sister took a few items, the pile remained huge.

I put everything in a trash bag and took it to a secondhand store that always accepted clothes as donations and even paid a little for good things. 45 minutes later I got a call from them - 13 of my things had already been sold, and I had earned $ 44 dollars from only 13 rooms. Hello, new pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers!

Step 4: Make a mistake

And then I did what a person who creates a capsule wardrobe should not do - I went shopping. I knew my wardrobe, now I saw a complete, objective picture. But it was the worst decision. Clothes are wonderful. And when it comes to shoes and jewelry, willpower leaves me. But compared to the previous shopping, I was proud of my willpower. Went down the missing items list. But in the end I bought a few items without any apparent need.

Returning home late in the evening, I again counted the contents of the closet. Some things from the "may be left" pile were re-included. I decided that I would wear them because they are universally standard pieces for all seasons - for example, a blue and white striped shirt and a gray V-neck jumper.

In the end, there were 44 items left in the capsule - 7 more than the planned 37. And I still felt like I needed a couple of other things. To be honest, I felt like a loser. And so it all started well! One shopping trip not only expanded the wardrobe, but also gave birth to new “I want”.

Step 5: Realize it's a process

Any blog about creating a capsule wardrobe recommends forgiving your mistakes. Hey, mistakes happen! It's unavoidable. Being a determined woman, I thought I could handle my sudden decision. But I'm only human.

Although I had more than 37 items, there was a plan. Bloggers, and now me, are advising you to hang things you wear and don't wear in different sides on a hanger. Then it will be easy to figure out what to throw out of the wardrobe.

It's hard for me to say right now what I won't be wearing in the next couple of months; I still have an optional supply of extra-capsule items hanging in my closet. They are more for added comfort, but against the very purpose of the capsule. But it's a process, right?

I have over 37 items so far, but take a look at what's left in my closet:

  • two pairs of heels (black and nude)
  • two pairs of boots (brown and suede)
  • one pair of toms
  • three pairs of sandals
  • one pair of Vans
  • two pairs of shoes
  • three cardigans
  • six pairs of shorts
  • three pairs of pants
  • two skirts
  • six dresses (I have many summer weddings, OK?)
  • 13 T-shirts

My list necessary purchases will probably grow, and some clothes I will throw out. But all this is really a very valuable experience. Capsules for the season, conscious shopping and closet space are worth it. Even though the capsule wardrobe won't stay with me forever (even though I'm already pretty hooked), I hope the way I think about shopping will change and I will stick to the concept of anti-thingism.

  • Six T-shirts
  • Two sweaters, two hoodies
  • one coat
  • Two pairs of pants
  • Six pairs of socks and underwear
  • One backpack
  • iPhone, Kindle, one regular notebook and MacBook Air laptop (+keyboard and mouse)
  • Sports shoes and sports shorts
  • Toiletries - Toothbrush, contact lenses, etc.

When I say "listed", I'm lying a little. I lived using the above items before settling into a permanent apartment in early 2014.

Since then, I've got some kitchen utensils, a mattress, a bed, some lamps, and a table. I will soon say goodbye to these things, so let them be on a separate, temporary list of my possessions for now.

Clean up the mess in your life - clean up the mess in your head

If you've ever cleared your desk before starting a work day, you know the sense of calm that brings. That's what I felt when I got rid of most of my things, leaving only the essentials.

Here's a list of the incredible positive changes I've seen since getting rid of junk:

You don't have to think about what to wear today - you have more time to deal with more important things.

I can get ready for a trip in five minutes.

I go out for new clothes only once a year (read more about this below) and do not waste my precious time on it.

I worry less about little things and my life is more simple.

I don't spend extra money on things.

After long flights, I often hear from the border guards the question - “Is this all that you took with you?”

In order to see certain aspects of your life clearly and notice the reality around you, owning fewer things is an incredibly valuable step. Of course, I can't claim to fully see things as they are without attachment or judgment, but my intuition tells me I'm on the right track.

Buying a replacement

Of course, there are times when you need to go shopping and buy yourself new things. I managed to shop and maintain my minimalist lifestyle with one simple rule:

Every time I buy something new, I throw away a similar thing that I already have.

So if I buy new shoes I'm throwing away my old shoes. If I buy a new coat, sweater or T-shirt, the old coat, sweater or T-shirt disappears from my wardrobe. Between me and my friend Joel, we call it "replacement shopping" or "clothes change day".

Over the past few years, I also started buying better and better things on this day. I recently invested in a $380 MissionWorkshop backpack, ordered a $535 pair of Gebrueder Stitch handmade jeans, and bought a $2200 Burberry coat.

At first glance, the prices may seem too high, but I plan to use these purchases for several years, so during this time the price should justify itself. I also decided to choose the functionality of things as my main priority, although when buying products highest quality in addition to functionality, it also has a more than presentable appearance.

Starting to live with one bag

For many, the idea of living with one bag of personal belongings can seem intimidating. Luckily, author Greg McKeown has written an excellent book called Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, where he talks about one very useful trick:

“Take some time to go through your belongings and decide what you want to keep and what you throw away. You will immediately have several things that you want to get rid of. Then you will have things that you definitely want to leave. And at the end, you will notice some of the things about which you have not decided.

Put something in that you would like to leave but have not used it in Lately in a box. Now look, if in 3-6 months you get something out of the box - leave it, and if not, then calmly throw it away, in the future you will not need these things.

The one-bag life has made my life easier than anything else, and I encourage everyone to give it a try.
