  • Threads and a needle, scissors;
  • Thick paper;
  • If decor is planned (when making toys for children over 5 years old), then buttons, sequins, ribbons can be used.

Important nuances

To sew a soft toy, you need to accurately make a fabric pattern using a template. This is an exact copy of the details of the future product, depicted on paper, which is then transferred to the material. Each toy has its own set of patterns, but you can draw it yourself. Then you should cut them out and fix them on the fabric with the help of tailor's needles.

Before making the toy, wet the selected fabric and dry it. This will help to check if it will shrink on the first wash and if the toy will lose its shape. If this happens, it is recommended to wash the material before sewing, dry it, and only then proceed to work.

The first step is to create a pattern, it must be large enough, oh round shape. The head and ears are depicted, then they are cut out, the seam is sewn on the machine, the product is turned inside out and stuffed with soft filler, sewn up to the end. The material acts as a decor, it will be comfortable to sleep on it and so Thus, the effect of the muzzle of a bear will be created.

Two round applications are cut out of a dark color - these are the eyes. They are sewn to the pillow with hidden seams or attached on a typewriter.

It is better to make the muzzle bright, it is any color to choose from, in the form of a large oval shape piece of fabric. A small round mouth is sewn to it.

For realism, you can sew on small front paws. They are made of the same fabric color as the pillow itself and are attached to its lower part, having previously been stuffed with filler.

Bear in Tilda style

Ribbons or bows are an obligatory decoration for a bear in the Tilda style; you can also make original embroidery by hand.

Teddy bear

Making a soft toy Teddy bear with your own hands is a difficult task, so you should carefully study the algorithm before starting work.

How and where to start:

Work algorithm:

  • Transfer patterns of details to a pile fabric, they must be in a mirror image;
  • Cut them out, leave punctures for the paws to create fasteners;
  • Ears and paws are made from two different materials, outer side pile, inner cotton;
  • Sew them together;
  • Turn out, and then fill with filler;
  • The next step is fixing cases;
  • They are inserted into the space left in advance, these are cardboard discs with a hole with a bolt to be mounted (the body of a bear cub);
  • A nut is also sewn into the limb, and then stuffed with foam rubber;
  • The mount is carefully sewn into the limbs and torso, making them invisible;
  • Next, you should screw the limb to the body, such an attachment gives the soft toy mobility;
  • By analogy, do this manipulation on all paws;
  • After the body of the teddy bear is ready, the eyes, mouth, nose should be embroidered with threads;
  • Tie a bow or ribbon around the neck;
  • Teddy bear is ready.

Bear-ballerina

To sew a bear - a ballerina, you need to take a dense material, best of all from a short pile. For heels, palms and inside ears to choose soft tissue e.g. silk, cotton.

Patterns need to be made according to patterns, there will be a lot of details here, because. legs, palms, knees and shoulders are movable, they are sewn separately. In order for the pile to lie in one direction, all fragments of the bear are made in a mirror image, and then sewn together. They are turned inside out, stuffed with foam rubber and sewn up with a hidden seam.

The ankles, legs, shoulders and palms of the toy are movable, this is done with the help of a button fastening. There are 2 design options, this is hidden (when the stitches and buttons are sewn into the details from the wrong side) and external (they are sewn on the front side and look pretty cute, only the color of the fabric and the color of the buttons should match).

The loop is made on the body, and the button is sewn on the legs. Further, the loop is made on the arm or leg, and the fastening is sewn on the palm or ankle. To decorate the face of a bear - ballerinas most often use beads or multi-colored sparkles. A ribbon is tied around the neck, the same is attached to one ear.

A mandatory accessory for this toy is a ball tutu, it is created by hand and transparent bright fabric, such as chiffon, veils, cambric.

The cut should be short, it should be baited on a thread evenly distributed to make beautiful body waves. Pull off the skirt at the waist of the bear, sew it up with a blind seam, you can also insert narrow elastic band, this will make it possible to change the clothes of a bear - a ballerina.

Polar bear

In order to understand how to make a soft toy with your own hands, you will definitely need a bear pattern with the number of necessary details.

This soft toy differs from all the previous ones not only in color, but also in the fact that the bear stands on four legs. Therefore, tailoring a polar bear is different from the rest. The fabric should be chosen dense with a long hard pile, the pattern should be made strictly according to the pattern, performing in a mirror image. Sew fragments together, fill with filler through a small hole.

In order for the toy to be stable, it is necessary to fill the paws very tightly.

In one version, the polar bear is performed in a stationary state, the limbs are sewn to the body, and in the other, a hidden button mount can be made.

Bear with babies

To make a soft toy of this type, there are many options for patterns, it can be a bear in a prone position, and around it are several of her cubs. And also sitting with the offspring on his knees, or even standing. The complexity of this composition lies in the fact that you have to work with small details. The fabric can be varied, ranging from faux fur or plain cotton.

For sewing the family, movable fasteners are not used; all limbs are sewn tightly to the body. To create muzzles, buttons are selected from the mother, for babies, most often the mouth, nose and eyes are made out with Mouline threads or glued with small sparkles.

What stitches to use when sewing a soft toy?

Threads for sewing toys must be strong and must match the product. An exception happens only when it makes a looped decorative seam, it is used as a finishing seam and not only sews parts together, but processes the edges of the fabric.

To create a soft toy with my own hands, I usually use the following types seams:

How to connect the parts of a soft toy

If the parts of the toy are sewn together without fasteners, then a butt seam is usually used. To do this, you need to form each of them, then simply attach the workpiece to the junction and thread the needle and thread gently with small stitches on the front side to sew them together.

If there are movable fasteners, then sew them with a blind seam into the part and, before connecting them, also apply a blind seam.

What is better to make the eyes and nose of a bear

Most often, buttons are used or sequins are glued, but sometimes Mouline threads can be used to decorate the muzzle. To do this, you need to master the embroidery method. The most common of them is the smooth surface, the stitches are made even, tightly adjacent to each other. Cross stitching is also used, this is the easiest way.

For some toys, the application method is used.

Here it is necessary to cut a small blank from a fabric of a different color and with the help of buttonhole seam sew on a pattern.

How to fill a sewn toy

Foam rubber is most often used as a filler, this material is dense, it does not fall off and perfectly holds any shape. It's also easy to take out if the toy needs to be washed. You can take ordinary cotton wool, but it quickly goes astray, and the product may lose its original view.

A synthetic winterizer is also used - it is easy to purchase, and it is a pleasure to work with it. With it, the toy will keep its shape for a long time, it is easy to dry and does not go astray. An alternative option is holofiber - this material is durable and easy to use.

As a filler, natural fillers are used, this is wool. It is environmentally friendly, allows the product to keep its shape and even generates heat, with such a toy the child will be very pleased to sleep.

How to insert a wireframe

The wire frame is used in soft toys quite often, it allows you to keep the shape and gives it flexibility. To create it, you need some wire, for safety, its ends should be bent with round teeth. The wire should be copper or floral, along the entire length of the toy.

Then, when the desired workpiece is made, it is lightly coated with glue and wrapped with the selected filler. This will prevent her from getting out during the operation of the toy. Further, the filler is evenly distributed around it and a frame is obtained, which is then placed in a fabric pattern. The fragment is merged.

Thus, the wire frame is inserted into both the torso and limbs or even the ears and tail of the toy.

How to decorate a soft toy

There is a huge selection of accessories for decorating toys. The most commonly used beads, buttons, sequins, ribbons and bows. They are sewn to the product with a hidden seam or special glue. You can also take small pieces of fabric, for example, velvet, cambric, silk, chiffon, they are superimposed and then sewn on with a buttonhole.

Sometimes it acts as an ornament original embroidery, as it helps to make the soft toy unusual. This option is increasingly used when the product is created by hand.

Another option to create unique image may be specially tailored clothing, such as a dress, skirt or overalls. It is made from beautiful lightweight fabric.

So, how to sew a bear?

Materials you will need:

  • The basis of the fluffy "miracle" is a fabric with a soft pile. It can be plush, natural or artificial fur, mohair, velvet;
  • Additional dense fabric any other shade for paw pads and ears. It will look beautiful if you take a couple of tones lighter, but this is not important. Not necessarily with a pile - coarse calico, flannel, silk, suede;
  • Pattern paper;
  • Pencil or pen, scissors;
  • Threads, floss or strong silk threads, sewing needles;
  • Black beads or buttons - these will be the eyes;
  • Stuffing (cotton wool, synthetic winterizer). Perhaps, any old things, rags that have been lying “idle” for a long time.
Sequencing:
Having decided on the color of the future bear, select suitable fabric. Plush is usually used. By the way, a nice moment for beginners - "plush" fur hides possible uneven seams, and the toy looks great at the same time.

Make a drawing of a pattern on paper or use a ready-made one - download from the Internet or take one you like in any needlework magazine. soft bear can be of any size, it all depends on the amount of material.

Redraw all parts of the toy on the fabric. When cutting, be sure to make seam allowances. In places of protrusions and roundings, it is necessary to make incisions, this will save correct form products. The number of parts is indicated on the pattern. Items used from extra fabric are marked in yellow.
We connect the parts of the bear in pairs and turn it on the front side, leaving a few unstitched centimeters through which we will stuff the figure. Ears are left without filler. The tail on the pattern is not indicated. If you really need it, then it is most convenient to cut it out according to the eyelet pattern.
The most difficult thing in the process of making a bear is the head. Follow the letter designations - they must match. First we sew the side halves of the head along the chin line, then we sew the ears along the cut line and, finally, we sew the middle of the head between these

Having turned all the details of the toy with the fur outward, we fill them with synthetic winterizer or cotton wool. Try not to leave voids - lay the filler denser, especially in the area of the head and paws. So, the soft parts of the bear will for a long time keep in shape.
On the paws, mark the contours of the fingers. They can be embroidered with threads or glued triangles suede fabric dark color. This will give the teddy bear liveliness.
Carefully trim the nose area to make the muzzle look more expressive. Sew on the eyes. We embroider the nose of the floss, we sew the mouth. From light pieces of fabric we form eyelids.
Let's attach the bear's head to the abdomen and make it movable - for this we use a regular spool of thread. We will sheathe it with a cloth and place it in the neck area, deepening it as much as possible. Gather the edges of the holes of the head and torso of the toy on a strong thread and tighten it tightly. Now Toptygin can look around.
Sew the paws to the body with a thick strong thread. Having threaded it twice in the places of their combination, we tightly pull the thread to the desired position of the limbs and fasten the ends by removing them inside. This connection method allows the bear to move its paws and sit.
Our soft charm is ready!

As you can see, sewing such a fluffy beauty with your own hands is not difficult. Also, the bear can be dressed in a jacket and pants - they are also easy to make from colored pieces of fabric. Or just tie a bow.
There are a lot of options from what and how to sew a bear. For example, a toy in the form of a northern bear will look unusual in a room and complement the decor in an original way. Such a "friend" for little pranksters will be an excellent companion in games.

Small soft inhabitants of children's rooms can be not only plush. Sew a bear from felt or thick calico - it will interesting solution. Such unique gift for a celebration, besides, created by oneself, any romantic girl will like it.

Let's not ignore the well-known Teddy bear. This American toy has become almost epoch-making. Today, "Teddy" is sold in every toy store and is the constant "companion" of every third girl you meet on the street. Let's not forget that a do-it-yourself panda is also a friend adored by children. And now that we know how and know how to sew a bear, create this everyone's favorite it will be easier on your own.

A handmade soft toy is not only a fascinating and interesting thing. This and good mood from the result obtained, and the joy of pleasure for all who will get this miracle.

It is easier to sew your first bear according to the pattern of a classic German bear, invented well-known company Steiff Schulte.

His distinctive features, the fact that the pattern of the bear is upright and has certain body proportions. The whole Teddy bear consists of four, approximately equal parts. One part is the head, two parts are the torso, the upper legs are 1.6 parts, the lower legs are 1.4 parts.

First of all, you need to draw a sketch of the bear, taking into account these proportions and reshoot the pattern from it.

The pattern does not include seam allowances (+5-7 mm). The bear on this pattern is approximately 18 cm.

The next step is to prepare all the materials and tools we need in the process of work:

  • (Helmbold, Article: 150-014) size 1/16. For the first bear, it is better to choose not thick mohair.
  • 2.0 * 20 mm - for attaching paws 4 pcs and 2.0 * 25 mm - for attaching the head - 2 pcs
  • diameter: 25 mm for the upper paws - 4 pcs, 30 mm - for the lower paws 4 pcs, for the head 25 mm (I sew into the head itself) - 1 pc and 20 mm (for the neck) 1 pc. Total 10 pcs.
  • Washers 12 mm 12 pcs
  • (matte or glossy of your choice) 5 mm - 1 pair
  • Super strong threads for tightening the eyes, sewing threads, threads for embroidering the nose (you can use a regular floss).
  • Filler: sawdust or sintepuh (about 150 gr) and weighting agent - marble chips, coarse quartz sand.
  • : sewing (for seams) and puppet (long for tightening and setting eyes)
  • for making holes and straightening the pile
  • brush and oil paints for tinting
  • You may also need tweezers, pliers

When everything is finally ready, we start the process:

Print and cut out pattern

Then we transfer the details and all the marks to the fabric, not forgetting to take into account the direction of the pile on the fabric and on the details themselves. Don't forget to add a seam allowance. Cut with sharp small scissors along the wrong side so as not to damage the pile. For ears and paws, you can use a special mini-fur, or you can simply pluck the pile from our mohair. On the two mirror parts of the paws we make marks for the disks.

  • Head - 2 specular + wedge (middle part of the head)
  • paws upper 2 inner parts + palms and two outer parts
  • paws lower 4 mirrored + 2 soles mirrored
  • Ear - 4 parts
  • Optional tail!

When using thick fur, you need to front side according to the allowances, cut the pile to the base. You need to sew the parts with a back stitch, with a very small step of about 2 mm, constantly pulling the thread. So that, with dense stuffing, the seams do not spread and are invisible. If this is your first bear, I advise you to “bait” the details first

Let's start stitching the head:

First we sew all the undercuts. Then, with tweezers or tweezers, if desired, pluck the pile on the nose. After stitching, it will be difficult to pull the pile out of the seams.

After that, we fold the side parts of the head inward with fur and sew the two parts together from the nose to the lower undercut (from point 1 to point 2).

Then we sew a wedge into the head. We always sew on a wedge, start from the mark on the nose, make sure that the darts match. Sew one side up bottom tuck.

Getting Started next side, sew along the wedge from the top tuck to the mark on the nose. Make sure that the bend in the bow matches. Then from the top tuck towards the bottom, to the mark where we left a hole for stuffing and eversion. The head is sewn on to the body.

First we sew the tucks, after that the body, not forgetting to leave a hole for eversion.

Next, sew the ears, leaving not sewn lower part, leave a long thread. Then we turn the ears inside out and sew the opening at the bottom with a “hidden” seam. The thread should still remain, because. we will sew her ear to her head!

Sew the tail (just like the ears).

Let's move on to the top legs.

First, we sew the palms, then we sew the parts, leaving a hole for eversion.

Next, take on the lower legs

We sew from 1 to 2 points. Leave a hole for eversion and sew from 3 to 4 points. We do not sew the bottom.

We sew the sole, taking into account the marks, we sew along the sole. It’s better to “make money” first. Pay attention to the sole has an inner part, it must match the part of the leg where there is a mark for the disk.

Despite the complexity, the sole should be sewn evenly, without wrinkles.

Now that all the details are sewn, turn inside out and move on to stuffing.

First of all, I stuff my head. I start with the nose, stuffing it very tightly, since then we will tighten and embroider the nose. According to the density of stuffing, you can compare the head with a tennis ball. When stuffing, try to shape the head with your fingers, not forgetting where you have the bridge of your nose or forehead. Sawdust is very malleable and, unlike sintipuh, when stuffed with them, it is easy to “blind” the head of exactly the desired shape.

Very often you can hear that one pattern produces completely different bears, even in size. A lot depends on the padding.

The hole in the head is not sewn up yet. I put my head down and move on to the paws.

Before stuffing the limbs, you need to install a mount in them.

We put a washer on the cotter pin, then the disk. After that, in the paw at the indicated point, make a hole with an awl and insert the resulting structure into this hole. Then from the outside we put on the second disk, the washer. With an awl, we push the antennae of the cotter pin so that when stuffing the washer is tightly pressed against the fur and the sawdust does not fall under it.

Paws (palms and feet) need to be stuffed very tightly, because. further we will use the tightening to form fingers, above the paws you can stuff softer. It is possible, when stuffing the lower paws, after stuffing the feet, to alternate the filler with the weighting agent.

After we stuffed the paws, we sew up the holes with a hidden seam.

Then we proceed to tightening the fingers on the paws.

We make markings with pins.

Then with reverse side palms (feet) we introduce a thread and leave a tail with it, we bring it out at point 1.

Then we insert the needle at the second point behind the seam, and bring it out at point 3, pull it to form a finger. We enter point 4 by the seam, exit at point 5, tighten. We bring the needle to point 6 behind the seam and return to point 5, tighten and return the thread to the same hole on the back of the palm where we entered at the beginning. We tie the tails, insert them into the thread, insert the needle into the same hole, bring the paws anywhere, pull the thread, hide the knot and cut it off.

That's what happened, we repeat with all the paws, checking the synchronism.

The next step is to shape the head.

Take a break, have some tea or coffee and dream about your bear. It is very important with what attitude you take up your bear, so it will turn out.

We fasten the ears with pins to the intended place.

Let's start tightening

We select with the help of positional eyes (or pins) a place under the eye sockets. We take a super-strong thread and a puppet needle, tie a knot and bring the needle out under the positional eye through an open hole. We make a small stitch (it should be less than the diameter of the eye) and bring the thread through the head into the other eye, the thread is fixed. You can remove the positional eyes to continue working.

Then, with a stuffing stick, we slightly press the place where the eye will be, make a small stitch and bring the thread into the other eye, while we begin to pull the thread, as if drawing the eyes to each other. We also “press” the other eye socket and bring the thread back into the opposite eye. We repeat this procedure as necessary several times. We bring the remaining thread into the hole.

Then we make markings with the help of pins and embroider the mouth, we bring the thread into the hole with the help of a long pin. We tie the tails of the threads from the eyes and nose and cut off.

Preparing the head mount

We connect two loop cotter pins, we put a washer, a disk, and another washer on one cotter pin. Then, using a splitter or pliers, we wrap the antennae. You need 4 washers for the head, on both sides of the disk, otherwise the mount will not swing. We insert the resulting design into the head. The fastening should be in the place of the lower tuck. If necessary, add filler under the disk and sew the head with a hidden seam.

If necessary, we pluck the pile on the nose and under the eyes, before installing the eyes.

After that, we take out our eyes, cut off a piece of a super-strong thread (about 50 cm) and fold it in half. We insert a loop of thread into the loop of the eye, pass the ends of the thread into the loop of the thread and fix it. Carefully, so as not to damage the eye, flatten the loop of the eye with pliers. We do the same with the second eye.

Once again, we check the place with the help of positional eyes and make a small hole in this place with an awl. We insert the thread on which the eye is held into a long needle, and we leave the thread down behind the disk, just below the back of the head. as close to the disk as possible. It does the same with the second eye, we draw a thread 2 mm from the thread of the first eye. We ask someone to hold the head or we squeeze between the knees and tightly tighten these threads between ourselves, tie them with a strong knot. Then we insert the ends of the thread into a long needle, bring these ends in the ear area, pull the thread and deepen the knot from the eyes, cut the threads as close to the head as possible.

After that, all limbs must be fixed in the body. We start with the lower paws, then the head, then the upper paws.

We remove the washers and discs from the paws, having previously connected the antennae back with pliers. In the body, at the marked points, we make holes with an awl. We insert a cotter pin into the hole, put a disk, a washer on it and twist the antennae with a cotter pin.

Fixing the head: make a hole with an awl in the region of the upper tuck, insert a cotter pin into it, put a washer, disk and another washer on it, twist the antennae.

After all the limbs are fixed, we begin to stuff the body. We stuff the neck section tightly so that the head proudly “sits” on the body. We fill the tummy, gently alternating the filler with the weighting agent.

Sew a hole in the back with a hidden seam. Sew the ears and tail with a hidden seam.

Let's move on to toning.

We dip a synthetic brush with a short pile (can be cut off) into the paint, wipe the brush on paper. With a semi-dry brush, I begin to stain the edges of the soles, paws, ears, tummy. Rub with a clean wide brush or toothbrush, making smooth transitions. You can make bald spots in places and pinch the wool.

I plucked the bear's left shoulder and rubbed the hole with a coarse sandpaper. She stained the sawdust that appeared with paint and mended it.

It turned out such a beloved baby!!!

This popular soft toy in the form of a cute gray bear cub is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. Everyone who once saw a Teddy Bear will certainly want such a cute plush pet to settle in his house. Many people know the rather high cost of such a toy, but this is not at all a reason to abandon the dream. We offer Alternative option- sew a teddy Teddy Bear with your own hands.

How to sew a teddy bear with your own hands?

In the master class we will show how to sew from plush fabric Teddy bear with movable legs and head at home, without special fasteners and accessories. So, we need this:

  • plush fabric gray color:
  • light brown or beige fleece;
  • black large beads and a patch of artificial light brown suede for the eye;
  • floss threads;
  • synthetic winterizer filler;
  • wooden spools of thread;
  • needle and thread.

Now we can start work.

DIY Teddy bears - master class

  1. First of all, we will build a Teddy Bear pattern, shown in detail in the figure.
  2. Now we cut out the blanks of the Teddy Bear from the fabric, noting the allowances for the seams.
  3. Before sewing, cut the pile from the seam allowances. This will make our work much easier. Let's start sewing our bear from the palms.
  4. Next, we sew the details of the handle, sew the palm to the handle, leaving a small hole for filling with padding polyester. Turn out to the front side.
  5. Now let's take care of the legs of our bear. We sew the details of the legs, leaving open the feet and a small hole on the toes for eversion and filling.
  6. Now we sew in the feet and turn the legs on the front side.
  7. Next, we sew the two halves of the tummy, leaving the neck opening. We do the same for the tail of the bear. We turn the parts of the toy on the front side.
  8. Then we will take care of the bear's head. We fold the two parts and sew the chin line.
  9. Now sew the ears to the head. Before that, we sew their details without filling them with padding polyester.
  10. We continue to sew the head according to the intended allowance.
  11. We turn the finished head on the front side.
  12. Now we fill all the details of our bear with synthetic winterizer. Special attention we give the nose and legs so that the toy is stable.
  13. Then we will embroider the fingers on the legs and palms of the Teddy Bear with floss threads.
  14. Blind stitch hide all holes.
  15. And now let's deal with the face of the bear. First of all, we will embroider the spout and mouth with floss threads. Then sew on two black beads for eyes. From faux suede cut out two small pieces.
  16. Now gently lubricate the narrowed side of the eyelid with glue and, with the help of a toothpick, carefully tuck the shred behind the eye. Now the eyes have become more realistic, even as if alive.
  17. Next, let's articulate the bear's head. Take a wooden spool and a small piece of plush fabric for this.
  18. We coat the coil with glue, glue it in a circle with a piece of cloth, for reliability we also hem it. It turned out a neck for a bear.
  19. Now, with the help of the neck, we connect the head with the body: we cover the holes with a strong thread in a circle, insert the hinge of the coil and tighten it tightly. For reliability, we fix the structure with threads.
  20. We have a turning head.
  21. Now let's move on to the legs. We fasten them with the help of the so-called rope connection: we take a thick and strong cord, thread it into one leg and the wrong side, that is, the side adjacent to the body, then we lead the rope through the body and hook the second leg. Then we also return to the first leg and tightly tie the rope into a knot.
  22. Let's check the bear for stability - he should be able to stand on his own.
  23. In the same way, we attach handles to the body.
  24. And lastly sew on the tail.
  25. Now we beautifully comb our finished Teddy Bear.
  26. And for beauty we will tie a bow around the neck. If desired, you can also dress the teddy bear, sewing him a shirt, trousers, etc.
  27. Here you can sew such a beautiful Teddy Bear with your own hands. It will definitely please you and your kids.
